  1. Everybody has an agenda, and some people swing a big stick. Small town politics at it's finest.
  2. They will not find a man more committed to Hemphill than John Launius was. Dumbest move they could have made. I'm sure there are some locals that were mad because the coaches son was the Quarterback. Such crap. John has always been a kids first coach. He learned from the best as a player for John Outlaw in high school. Hemphill made a huge mistake getting rid of him.
  3. I can see him winning and stay for as long as he wants. He will be a Administrator Head Coach. He will surround himself with great coaches and let them do their jobs. His son will run the offense and he will have the best defensive coordinator he can find. No reason to leave after 3 or 4 successful years. If he so desires, I'm sure they will make him AD only on the Hill and his son will take the reigns.
  4. Nobody can argue that the $$$$ was THE factor in him taking the job. It is financial security for him and his family for the rest of his life, who can blame a man for that? But, I guarantee you he sees it as an opportunity to do something special in a place that requires great coaching. Allen has become the place where just about any coach can win. BH is not that place. It is a challenge and an opportunity to win where many people don't think you can win. As coaches we are always looking for that chance to prove that coaching does matter. And at what better place than BH to prove than you can win with coaching, because you sure don't have the best athletes in the state.
  5. I never understood why Nations didn't get the job when Jerry stepped down.
  6. I'm happy for Bren. It is always nice to see a District show loyalty to a Coordinator , because it is so dang hard to get that first Head Coaching job. I wish him the best of luck.
  7. The real question is, how many coaches will be willing to move from Allen to the Hill? I'm guessing, not very many. He will have to do a great job of recruiting to assemble a quality staff. That will be the key to his success.
  8. They are going to have another solid class. I don't know if SOLID is enough to win a West Division Championship though. My Hogs are going to have to have some amazing player development on the Defensive side of the ball to win as much as the Fans want. They are doing a great job on D-Line in recruiting and developing talent, but the Linebackers and Secondary leave a lot to be desired.
  9. Does anybody know if Tony is at home or is he at Bama right now? That would answer a lot of questions.
  10. Does Dayton make an announcement tonight?
  11. Great fit for him and a great get for the Razorbacks. Bielema is not on the hot seat and anybody that thinks that is not very well informed. Enos did a great job with the offense this year and they are evolving into a well rounded, balanced attack that will appeal to great running backs as well as pocket passers and receivers. The Towns kid is the real deal and they will be better at QB in the future. They will continue to attract top tier offensive lineman and they will be very competitive on the offensive side of the ball. Defensively they were young and have the makings of a solid group. The defensive lineman that played in the Under Armour game that has committed to Arkansas is a beast and they will be better in the Secondary with some key additions and the experience the young kids got this year. Arkansas is on the move up. Unlike the SEC school in Texas that is struggling. Good choice Devwah and best of luck on the Hill. WPS!!!
  12. He would look really good in cardinal and white next season toting the rock for his first of many 1,000+ yard season on the The Hill. WPS
  13. I never have understood why there is such a big "hang up" about having a persons name associated with a job opening. In every business there is movement and it has nothing to do with loyalty or commitment to your current employer. We all want to better ourselves. There are many reason a coach might want to take another job and most of the time it has more to do with what the "new" school has to offer than what the "old" school can't offer.
  14. This article talks a lot about Texas, but Warren is a beast and if Whaley wants to play a bunch as a freshman Arkansas is the logical choice.
  15. This is still a job. We may love what we do and we may want to win more than anything, but we are all trying to help ourselves and our family's financially. Money does play a role in where we go and where we work. And SETX is on low end as far as coaches pay.
  16. I will preface this by saying I am definitely an Outsider. Sounds to me like there were three factions pulling in three different directions. Stewart was trying to continue to pull the team in the same direction that he had always pulled them, while Hancock was trying to pull them into a somewhat different direction (that did NOT include playing defense), and the Administration just ripped the ropes from both of their hands and is now pulling the entire Athletic program in the direction that they want it to go.
  17. I don't think anybody can argue with the fact that Hancock under achieved. Regardless of who was looking over his shoulder.
  18. Yes, well aware of that law. But you don't post it on THSCA unless you are unhappy with the response you have already received.
  19. I see the BH posted the job opening on the THSCA web site. Interesting, I wonder if that means they have been turned down by all of the people they have contacted.
  20. He seriously needs to rethink his commitment. New offense, new coaches, this will be a major rebuilding process. Arkansas is a much better home for his talents. He needs to be in a downhill running scheme and Arkansas is the best place for those skills.
  21. Need to wait until December, I know a hot "not so young" offensive coordinator that might win a ring this year who would love to have a shot at the HILL. He would be a great fit and has all the qualifications listed, with the exception of the ring.
  22. Wrong, wrong, wrong and still wrong. Three yards and a cloud of dust is garbage. You can NOT completely stop the teams in that District. Defense and ball control are not the way to go. Nobody with any sense will tell you that Southlake and Highland Park out athlete people. These are the type of kids on the Hill. Do NOT pigeon hole them because of the color of their skin or their academic abilities. This is the type of program where you can teach the kids highly intuitive concepts in the passing game and running game, be multiple and check plays at the line based on the fronts and coverage. You can take advantage of what the defense gives you because of the intelligence of the kids. Also, because of the financial advantage of the community, these kids will get the best individual coaching possible. If you commit to the passing game, you will have multiple kids with specialized training and receivers with great route running skills because the parents will seek out the extra coaching the high school staff can not give them because of UIL restrictions. Vision and progress, NOT turn back the clock to some OLD ways. Tried and failed.
  23. Going about this all wrong, in my humble opinion. They really need someone without a pedigree. Somebody that can come in with some innovative ideas and really connect with the kids. Somebody with the personality and charisma to play the political game in the community, but a coach with a passion for coaching and some new ideas to inspire these kids to think differently about the Offensive side of the ball.
  24. Any other names being thrown around. Wonder who else is going to land at Central. I know a number of GREAT coaches that have expressed interest in joing Toby in Jaguar land. He could be cherry picking from 20-4A as we speak.
  25. No rule that says they have to have spring football. Probably will use the athletic period to introduce the scheme once the new guy comes on board. Slowly integrate his ideas with skill kids first. Then get the whole staff in place in the summer and start a week early getting ready for the season. Just a thought. Wonder what Toby is going to do at Central.
