  1. Very interesting, because he was the chosen one. Former PN-G offensive line coach that was hand picked by the Superintendent two years ago. They have had some success, I thought he had them trending in the right direction.
  2. I will never put down the coaches of another sport, never. And to be honest, yes an elite track and field coach has to be a master at a number of different techniques, especially in the field events and be able to train different athletes differently to ensure success. However, to put down football coaches and say track and field coaches have to do more coaching is completely asinine. The last time I checked the track or the pit didn't play defense. Or the opponents you were competing against weren't trying to score on you. Football coaches have to teach the same intricate techniques that track coaches teach, all while putting in a game plan against an opponent and including the factors of teamwork and collisions and opposing coaches planning to stop what you are doing. You are obviously not a high level football coach if you think track and field coaches have a more difficult job than football coaches.
  3. The Barbay Brothers are going to stop running the Wing-T??? I really don't think so. They might be moving to the Spread-T, but still don't see them throwing it more than 10 times a game.
  4. Dang, 4 exceptional looking athletes. Grady must be salivating at the possibilities.
  5. Saw that yesterday, pretty impressive group.
  6. Well....... Maybe just a hint of sarcasm...... All offensive coaches think they are geniuses.
  7. I get that, but for some of us coaching football is more than just a job. For a guy that loves football and is an offensive genius, there is no better life than to retire then be rehired to be an offensive coordinator. I'm sure he will have very few, if any classroom duties, and his sole purpose everyday is to come to work, plan practice and prepare to call plays on Friday nights and get paid to di it. All while drawing a full retirement check and a check for his limited work. Not very many better gigs than that for an Old Ball Coach.
  8. 10 days, internal posting only, if I had to guess
  9. He was in the final 2 for the Buna job, didn't know if he had applied in BC or not.
  10. A little birdie told me it is not TF, for what that is worth.
  11. Heard there is a former Lion in the mix that would make things in Buna very interesting.
  12. Probably nor going to get any "move ins" of any significane running that antiquated offense and only winning approximately 5 games a year, sorry Vidor.
  13. Yes, he would have been a good one. Brandon Houston would have been a very good hire too.
  14. That one is easy. Carthage has always had athletes, but not enough to win it all without elite coaching. They won district championships and even made deep runs with good coaching. When they got the elite coach, they started winning Championships. Some places have enough elite athletes to overcome mediocre coaching and still win it all. But, I will say it again. You are not even winning a district championship without a few great athletes.
  15. You can win a state championship without an elite coach. But you are not even winning a District championship without a couple elite players.
  16. That is an interesting question. I think they will base out of the wing-T for sure, that is the smash mouth brand of football Chad believes in. But, they may have more versatile athletes in El Campo, so he may be may be more open to other schemes.
  17. And they have another very talented Sophomore group.
