I wonder what is going on with the Cubs bats today.  They can't connect on anything.

Stegant is pretty good. He worried me in that Willis game, but this other performances have been real good. Calallen is going to be tough to beat (assuming they beat Poteet).

So if the Cubs take this any word on who pitches the championship? I would have thought they would save Ty for the finals.

Night of surprises in 4A baseball.  Mesquite Poteet beat Rockwall Heath and Burleson (with 17 losses) beat WF Rider (last year's state semifinalist). Not a big surprise to see Calallen win 3-0 over Moody.

[/quote] I think they brought JV because there were a ton of Cubs out there.  PNG has a very good team but I didn't really see the chemistry as an overall team. You can tell alot by the way a team warms up and I just didn't sense that.  Brenham seemed much better connected. I guess that all amounts to a hill of beans though because we saw who won the game:)

[/quote] They made a believer out of me for sure.  I wasn't overly impressed with the pitching on either side, but the catcher for PNG is a player for sure.  That kid was all over every play.

I was at game 1 and it was a great game.  All I can say though is that the umps in game 1 were horrible.  There were many blown calls (for both sides) that could have impacted the game.  Brenham, in my opinion, was the more skilled team, but they got rattled and the mistakes just started happening.  PNG stayed with it and outlasted the Cubs.  If Brenham does not get serious this series could be over tonight.

I don't have an update but I can tell you from playing both teams that this should be a one sided blowout in favor of Baytown Christian.  Mt. Carmel has a good program, a very nice coach, but there is such a huge gap between Baytown and the other T-CAL teams.

I coach for Houston Sanchez.  Our boys couldn't compete at the tournament due to inability to pay for travel costs, not for grades.  Baytown Christian however has an amazing team.  We played them twice this season and I ended up calling one of the games because it was so out of hand.  Our boys have played baseball for three months out of their entire lives. Baytown Christian should walk away with the tournament, I cannot see how they get any competition from T-CAL, they are just too far ahead of the curve.
