1.
As utfan stated I think White Oak will be our biggest threat. We also have to look out for Jarrell. They're in Region 3 this year and have some trees in their lineup. I'm really hoping for this matchup with White Oak in the Tenaha tourney at the end of the month
Is there a tournament bracket released for this? I'm about 40 minutes from Tenaha and I would love to go support the Lions.
2. Anybody know who the tourney MVP was?
3. I'm excited to see what UCLA will look like. Hopefully they will pick things up in the Pac-12 (which has been horrible!). Kentucky can easily take that number one spot back for recruiting if they pull Anthony Bennett (no. 7 ESPN). If Coach Howland for UCLA blows this coming up season he is getting the boot right out the door.
4. Plus, imagine this starting 5 for Kentucky next year. (If there was a two and done rule) PG Marqus Teague SO. SG Archie Goodwin FR. #15 ESPN100 SF Alex Poythress FR. #13 ESPN100 PF Anthony Davis SO. C Nerlens Noel FR. #1 ESPN100 (I wonder if the flat top will be a bigger deal than uni-brow????? 5. I understand the ideal of the one and done but don't like it. I've kicked around some ideas with some friends. A ideal option would be the same rule as baseball. You have the option to go pro right out of high school but if you sign a LOI with a college you have to commit at least three years. I really like that idea but I wonder if that will make more kids want to go to the d-league or overseas and try to work their way in the pros versus going to school. I personally think for basketball two and done would be a great idea and more than fair. Gets them in school for two years so they can a least knock out their basics and I think that is perfect time to develop their games. I would love to see college basketball back to competitive dominant programs in the NCAA tournament (even though the mid major runs are fun to watch) and see guys like Anthony Davis dominant and develop so once they get into the NBA they can be a instant impact rather than wait for 2 or 3 for them to do something. I really think one more year for AD under Coach Cal would do him wonders once he gets to the NBA.
6. I see your point but to me it says a lot when one of those seniors came to his office and apologized not just for his self but the other seniors on the team after the rant. I don't see this hurting their futures in anyway. Every basketball (or any athlete) has dirt that agents will for sure know or find out about. That isn't going to stop agents as long as they get money in their pockets. If there is one thing I would change about the rant would be the drug thing. Like I said it doesn't hurt their future in playing basketball overseas to me at all but people already have bad options about athletes so that doesn't make it any better. But what said was said and it was positive result for the team and to me those kids just because of how they reacted. They could of easily shut down and gave up but they didn't. They could of not walked in his office and apologize but they did. There is some very very positive result from this situation that to me you have to give Coach Knight a lot of credit for. Not saying his going to be next Bobby Knight or anything just appreciate him being bold not for his self but the betterment of the players.
7. Indiana?? He never was the head coach there just his old man, Bob Knight. In college basketball coaches make the world of difference. He made that difference in this team. He called them out when they needed it and they responded in a big way. Most coaches don't have the guts to do that. Congrats to those players but big ups to Coach Knight as well. I agree with the Butler comment but I think he will stay at LU for a while and I do believe he will win a couple of championships. It will be a work in progress now because he has a lot of seniors to replace.
8. What I saw against White Oak this team should be really good. I liked what I saw with JJ in the middle but Corey has a little more size but I didn't get to watch either of them the whole year so that is a coin flip.
9. Great game but youth and being to comfortable showed up at the end. I'm extremely proud of this team though. They came together and figured it out at the right time. For them to play a game like that against a team like White Oak is really impressive for a young team. Way to go lions! Proud of you boys!
10. Talked to a number of people that felt Kountze didn't even play their best game last night. I saw some sloppy plays, careless passes, and not so great tries at blocking out. Didn't get to watch the second game but if Kountze makes the extra effort and sharp smart passes oh and get the ball the Linn (love watching this kid play!) they can pull the upset.
11. Haven't got to see ktz this year but I'll be at the game today. Does ktz have much dept outside of Corey and Powell? I know Corey has been a pretty good for them on the inside and Powell is a good scorer. Hopefully they have the guys they need ready to step up. Pretty disappointed that their not playing because of grades but hope it hurts pretty stinking bad so they don't make the same mistake next year for what seems to be a really good ktz team.
12. Congrats ktz!! Looking forward to welcoming my home town to my new home town! I'll be there to cheer for you boys on Friday!
13. Central Height is a good team with a awesome coach. I'm from Kountze and live in the Nacogdoches now. I know the CH coach well and it's pretty awesome to see how he was able to have the year he did with the talent pool he has even though they had a early exit from the playoffs. I think him and his players got the best of the Kountze players by out smarting them. Kountze is way better to me from what they were at the beginning of the year. I think being able to get through district the way they did only helps their confidence and a confident Kountze team is dangerous this time of year. Crockett will be tough to beat because they are really athletic but I think Kountze can pull this one out in a close one.
14. My favorite season of the year!!! Never to early to march madness. Any options on who will win it all?? I got my final four pick. North Carolina - STACKED!! My pick to win it all. Ohio State - Slimmer Sullinger should dominate but just a final four trip (Suprise) Florida - those guards and Coach Donovan will find a way to the final four Syracuse - I think they will play NC for it all. Great guard play and bigs will be legit this year Kentucky will come up short yet again. I just don't think you can win it all with a bunch a fresh (but extremely talented ones this year). They have a shot because they got some good sophomores that came back but will still come up short. Oh, and watch for Baylor. My call for Big 12 champs. You can probably tell I'm excited for this season lol.
15. Man...I wish I wasn't working. Best day of the year for me. I'll get home in time for the headliners. Who needs the NBA? I hope they stay locked out the whole year.
16. Read about the Duke game and watched highlights. Was surprised to see that Kelly put up 20. I'm a big Duke fan and they look pretty good but UNC and Kentucky is going to be so tough. I'm looking forward to this college basketball season! The Georgetown game was nuts!!! I wish the G-Town player would of just walked away but what I read said the Chinese team was being overly physical. Hate to see it got to the point it did. Chairs, bottles, and fist flying everywhere. Saw a G-Town player get thrown to the ground and a Chinese player holding him down and punching like crazy.
17. Hmmmm....as a Kountze alum I'll have to say this new direction seems like it's going to hit a brick wall.
18. I think he is 19 and there is some kind of loophole. He decided to go to Connecticut though.
19. Congrats guys! Didn't know that is the school Roman went to but he is doing well. Played 26 games and averaged 17 points per game (njcaa.org). Let hope Zay and DC can do the same thing!
20. Kinda not surprised. I heard that will be more of a option for high school kids along with going overseas to play for a year. Not really sure how good of a idea that will be.
21. Does anybody know if McDaniel or Stallworth has any offers on the table?
22. Got a couple of big names still out there. Two could be big for Kansas and one seems to be well needed for Texas. Trevor Lacy is picking out of Alabama, Kansas, and Kentucky. DeAndre Daniels picking out of Kansas, Texas, Duke, and Kentucky. Kansas could score big by getting them both (plus a teammate of Daniels that is 6'7" big man that is needed for Kansas). Anyone heard anything on were these two are leaning? Texas I'm sure is praying to land Daniels to get some kind of height on the wing and post.
