1.
He's right. Franchise 3T 15U is not very good.  And it's not jealousy.  It's great to see the kids putting work to get better. Beat who you should easily handle is fine. It's good competition.
The ONLY reason MC Flight even played Franchise 3T is b/c the other team in their division did not show up. Franchise 3T saw an opportunity to improve by playing against better competition. MC Flight also beat a talented 5A  Pearland team last night by 15 or so. I'm sure Dove will discredit them too.  ;)
 2. I watched them play in both tournaments. It is clear that the level of talent is not what it was two weeks ago. The college scouts know this too. There were 12-15 scouts two weeks ago, yesterday there were about 6 or 8. Regardless of what Mr. Dove says, there is still talent here. Even saw Billy Gillispie there yesterday. I don't think he spends his weekends watching sub-par talent.

Was that 1981?
 8. The first game I remember was in 1979, Nederland at Lufkin. I remember it, b/c I had a cousin playing on each team. I don't recall the score, but Lufkin won the game.  I remember being upset afterwards.
 9.
I might have some of the facts wrong here but this is the first game I remember watching...I was 5 or 6 1988 (could have been 89) PNG vs. A&M Consolidated at the Astrodome. I believe A&M won 35-0
The year was definitely 1989. The score however, I don't recall it being that big of a blow out (could be wrong).

 12. Nederland played again tonight in Houston-losing a heartbreaker to Houston Franchise by 3. We led the entire game until about 2 minutes remained. Franchise is  full of D1 talent. There were about 10-12 D1 scouts watching the game. They thought they were there to see the Houston kids only. I think they left with a new list of kids to recruit from Nederland and PA.
 13. First game was against Houston (Select or Elite). Kids from St. Pius, Yates, and others. Lost to them by 15. Score was 102-87. The Houston kids shot over 70% from 3 land. Then they beat a team from Oklahoma by 10. Unbelievable talent at this tourney. One other local team was there from Beaumont. That team was a WB, Ozen, and Central team mixed. Talented, but no size. Not sure how they did.
 14. Got a nice peak at some young Dawgs today in Houston. Playing against the best select teams in Texas and beyond will continue making them better. Tons of College scouts and Ex NBA players in attendance. Their future looks bright!

He looks good, will be a great asset to the team, esp after losing so much size from last year. I don't think Nederland will miss a beat this season.
Central will have no problem with Nederland this year. Its a a wrap!!!!!!! ;D
Not so fast there Blue Dove. I think they will probably split with Central. Nederland will be young, but they are LOADED! This 'team' is gonna surprise a lot of people this year, and they will run the table in district the following year.

 17.
They did do well.  There were several 4A school there,  Maybe in the big school division, except for Defenders whbo were all to be sophs and 1 to be jr.  Small school division had mostly jv teams,.some freshman teams and a all incoming freshman team.   Great competition. Saw a lot of talent out there.  Lindale a 3A schoool had a sr post player, all state this yr, was the most impressive post I saw
I was basing that assumption on the teams Nederland played all weekend. I think they only played against  5A teams. Not aware of any 4A teams they faced.
 18.
I got to watch Nederland this am, while at A&M, impressive 3 point shootiing.  Not a lot of size, but talented. They beat Whitesboro and lost to Clear Creek.
I heard they played well. One of the only 4A teams at the camp, and probably the only team w/o a Senior on the team.
 19.
Nederland will be in the top 5 in state for the next four or five years with a State Title within the next 5 years!
Love the enthusiasm, but that's pretty bold! I would not be surprised to see them at the regional tournament for the next 5 years, making it to state at least one of those times (probably the 2012-2013 season).
I am only aware of one possible move in from out of state, but he has not moved for sure yet. If he does move to Nederland, he will be a great asset to the team. He would provide some size down low at 6'5"!
Sadly some parents encourage this type of behavior in their kids.
That is sad to hear if that is true.
 23.
Not gonna happen. Why would he leave Nederland? His program is thriving, and he is coaching his own kids. 19-1 looks good on paper, but Vidor played against sub-par competition.
It is open. Zach Quinn has left his head coaching position to be AP at Vidor Middle School.
Zach Quinn will be missed....I've enjoyed watching him Coach the past 5 or 6 years and I consider him one of the best in our area....Not easy to come in and start a new program and be successful, but would have liked the opportunity to see what he could have done with a talented group of kids that put basketball first....Good Luck Mr. Quinn!!!!
Maybe they could talk Brian English, who is currently the head coach at Nederland into comming back to Vidor. You know Quinn led the Pirates to a 23-9 record this season, including a 19-1 start....not bad.

Your right. Coach English is going nowhere.
 24.
Okay, let me start by staying I'm a Bulldog fan now. I just haven't always been. I can still replay most of this game in my mind. At least the last two minutes of the game. Anyway, here it goes. 1989/90 LC-M versus Nederland at Bulldog Stadium. As always Nederland had a great crowd on hand. Several plays stand out. One LC-M is down on the 2 or 3 yard line of Nederland. Rusty Brown LC-M's QB appears to fumble the ball and a LB for Ned starts running the other way with the ball. Finally he is ran down from behind by a RB for LC-M(no name mentioned)at about the 30 of the Bears. For some reason, the refs blew the play dead so LC-M got the ball back at the 2 or 3 yard line of Nederland. Next play LC-M scores on pass out in the flat to the RB. Fast forward to the last two minutes of the game. LC-M is tailing (can't remember the exact score) by less than a TD. LC-M is driving the ball into Nederland territory reaching the thirty of the Bulldogs with about 25 seconds left in the game. The Bears throw a screen pass to the RB who makes a tremendous run breaking about 4 tackles and scores or at least it appears. The refs threw a flag for a linemen down field. Well see, on a screen pass the linemen can go down field to block as long as the receiver catches the ball behind the line of scrimmage. I've watch video of that play at least fifty time and the receiver or (RB) in this case was two yards behind the line of scrimmage. Reason I watched so many times in because my brother is the RB that caught that pass. Anyway, the penalty was called and the coaching staff decides to run the same play to the other side of the field. Well, this time Nederland was ready and someone laid the leather to my brother knocking him out of the game. The last few seconds tick off and LC-M loses a heart-breaker to Nederland. Next week LC-M played the Mustangs of WO-S. LC-M again runs a screen pass but the ball is over thrown by the QB and the RB crosses the line of scrimmage but catches the ball and scores a TD on what should have been a penalty. Well, WO-S puts a hurting on LC-M by the tune of 42-7. I would have much preferred if the officials got those two calls right. The play vs Nederland and LC-M wins and take the score off the board versus WO-S and LC-M loses 42-0. Of course my wishes don't matter and history is what it is. LC-M loses both games.
Played in this game too. LC-M did get screwed on that call. However, I don't think it was that late in the game. That was our Homecoming game. Nederland won 21-16. We definitely overlooked LC-M that year and played a sloppy game. We had our fair share of game changing calls that year which caused us to tie Liberty and lose to TJ, so maybe we were due for a call in our favor.
 25.
I think it was in '93 when Nederland played WO-S in a district game. Nederland came back and went ahead with very little time remaining in the game, maybe a minute or so. I don't know if I have ever heard Bulldog Stadium any louder. WO-S was down to about their last play and about 70 yards away. They threw a long pass for a touchdown with a few seconds on the clock. If I remember correctly, it may have been the only pass they complete the entire game. Nederland lost 33-28 (I think). It was Nederland's only loss in district that year. The loss itself was not so hard to take as much as the way it happened. With a minute left in the game it looked like we pulled off a huge upset (and would have won the district undefeated), only to be crushed at the end. If it was in '93, it was Larry Neumann's first year as head coach and Nederland did go to the playoffs as the second place team. Maybe some WO-S fans can refresh my memory.
New to this forum, found this topic. Just to clarify, this game was played in 1989. It was Steve DeRouen's last year as HC in Nederland. I know, b/c I played in it. We (Ned) were down 28-14 in the 3rd. Closed the gap to 28-21. WO-S scored on an 80yd TD run the very next play to make it 35-21. We drove down and scored on a 2yd QB sneak. We faked the XP and made the 2pt conversion-flipping into the end zone. Made the score 35-29. Then we recovered an on-side kick. Went down and scored on a pass play to take a 36-35 lead. WO-S then completed a 79-yard bomb to go up 42-36 with :44 secs remaining. That game still haunts my friends and me to this day.
