Just ask Cleveland. They didn’t bring their A game and lost 70-10 to Splendora. You just never know.
-
Yes, that QB can take off running. The Hornets have seen him and are well aware of that threat. If he runs for 200, it will be an issue.

Orangefield pretty impressive the last 2 weeks. I think they win this one by at least 2 TD’s.

Predictions Crosby @ K-Park Thursday 10/10/2024
Eazy replied to Cougtalk's topic in High School Football
Should be a good one. Dayton is a common opponent and K-Park wins that one. Crosby handled a decent Friendswood team last week. Since Texas Football said Crosby wins this district, I’d probably lean with Crosby. -
Not could be. This is the District championship. No one else in this District will beat these two. Woodville is very good, but I’ll have to go with Newton by 10.

Port Neches-Groves (24) @ Huntsville (21) - FINAL
Eazy replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
It looked like Huntsville’s intent was to make this a 2nd half game. They didn’t show much in the 1st half which I think was by design. The game should have been 7-7 at the half, but the Hornets self destructed in the last 2 minutes of the half. The roughing the passer penalty took away the interception and PNG scored a TD. Then, the freshman RB fumbles the kickoff. The Huntsville defense stopped PNG out of FG range, but the LB decided to rip the helmet off the ball carrier, which setup the free FG. The 2nd half was indeed a different look on offense. Huntsville had some success and had a chance to win late as they made it to the red zone in a 3 point game. Then more mistakes. Two straight false starts (The band wasn’t even playing) and then a pass off the receivers hands into the PNG DB’s stomach for the Int. Still, the Hornets get the ball back again and the FG attempt for the tie hits the upright. So, yes, I guess it depends on your perspective. The Hornets know they could have won the game. PNG found a way to win, and Huntsville found a way to lose. Other than that, pretty even teams. And whatever PNG put in #15’s lunch pail on Friday, that was probably the difference in the game. There, now I can move on to next week. -
Should be a very close game. Until kickoff that is.
-
Lake Creek gets it together for a convincing win.
-
These two teams are 2-2 the last 4 years against each other. Montgomery coming off the big rivalry win over Lake Creek. Huntsville off the PNG loss. I think Huntsville gets back in the win column this week. Should be a good one.

Likely 3-0 start for Nederland, but those last 4 games ain’t no tiptoe through the tulips.

Port Neches-Groves (24) @ Huntsville (21) - FINAL

Well it went to the wire as expected. Huntsville had their chances. A couple of turnovers and some critical penalties made a big difference in this one. Hornet offense very vanilla in the 1st half. Looked like they were just playing for a stalemate. Giving up the 10 before half was big. I figured they would open it up in the 2nd half and show something different. I think they only used the one RB all night #5. Only saw the other RB on the kickoff and he fumbled. #15 for PNG refused to be tackled. Offensive line opened up some holes. PNG didn’t turn it over and made fewer mistakes. What a finish with the FG off the upright. PNG probably glad to get to the cupcake part of the schedule now for the next 2 weeks. -

Very interesting score in Montgomery tonight. I called it. -

Hornets killed themselves at the end of the half. 15 yard penalty nullifies an INT. Fumbled kickoff. And another 15 yard penalty setting up the field goal. -
Is the coach supposed to say that his team is terrified and they don’t want to play? Or that his team thinks they can win? PNG beat both of these teams in the playoffs last year, won State, but now apparently there is no respect.
-
Oh please. Once again, the no respect for PNG surfaces. Is this a weekly thing? Scanning coaches shows looking for any snippet that can be interpreted as disrespect.
-
I probably would have said they miss the entire game. But at least they are doing something. It was stupid and childish but hopefully it’s a learning experience and others will take note. Doesn’t need to become a trend.

Any team will have a long road trip. Looking at District 7, the 4 seed could be Nacogdoches, Whitehouse, Hallsville, or Mt. Pleasant. That’s between 1:45 and 3:30 trips to Huntsville. Add another hour if it’s to PNG. Pretty sure they wont be packing the house in a game where they are sacrificial lambs. Plenty of room.

Cleveland ISD had a Facebook post about it. According to the post, an official complaint has been filed with UIL.

The Willis athletic department should be completely embarrassed that these kids would represent their school like this. Sportsmanship is one of the most important things we teach. Win with grace. Easy to pick on Cleveland. One day the shoe will be on the other foot. I hate Tik Tok. So much disrespect and stupidity is allowed these days.
-
I hear ya. Conroe too for the older farts. I think Brenham has to be the pick. That rivalry has probably been the most consistently and competitively played over the long haul.
-
Huntsville is a great location to get playoff games in Region 3, below the 5A level. They finally have the facilities for not only football, but baseball and softball too. Those two sports had to play all those years at the ghetto city fields. I know the players were embarrassed when teams from Montgomery County came to play. I think there will be a lot of playoff games coming in the future. Mart football played in Huntsville last year, and I know Liberty softball played two series there. Great for fans. Sorry I’m off subject.
-
Brenham has been a long time rival for Huntsville going back decades, but until recently they generally have not been in the same district. I think the two coaches have a good working relationship and I’m glad that they are scheduling each other for non district. Other than Brenham, I don’t think there is a rival. Back in the old days, Navasota was also. 101.7 apparently has a different definition of rivalry. It is a rematch of last years Region final, but that’s about it. Probably just trying to promote a big ballgame.

Series tied 3-3. Lake Creek still a fairly new school. Lake Creek has won the last 2, but not without a fight.

Can’t wait for this game. Not every day that the State Champs come to town. I really think it could go either way. Both teams will try and control the clock and limit the others possessions. Don’t think we’re going to see a 62-56 game here. Cut that in half probably.
