Good job Spurger. Players and also Coach Stapert made the right plays and calls tonight. Spurger is a tough place to win at, just like any other team at home. No whinning from me! Spurger came out the 3rd quarter and won the game.(19-8) Coach Stapert pushed the right buttons tonight and has done a great job all season! If we end up in a tie the game we be played. Hardin uses Bay Area Chapter of Basketball Officials Hull-Daisetta uses Beaumont Chapter of Basketball Officials Last season HD used the Cleveland Chapter So the same officials at Hardin wont be at HD and the same 2 officials that Spurger had last year at HD wont be there either. So the official talk can stop about this year's game.

Hatchet, I wasn't calling anyone out. Just saying I wasn't an english teacher.. as you could tell in my spur of a moment reasoning about the refs.. I don't know what all the previous coaches taught or coached and don't care to. Just knew that Coach Barbay had a good program here with hard workers around him and thats hard to find. Didnt say I was an english teacher. And really dont have to much time to post messages, I just try to dig through alot of trash on here from some people that dont know near what they think they do. I try to use this site for scores and thats about it. I apologies to all the grammar experts on here that I offended. I just had to explain what happened instead of someone trying to stir things up, that they have no idea about. About the refs not showing if you have to blame someone blame me!(Coach Henry) Since it was my idea to switch chapters since we have had so many complients about the poor officiating in the past we switched to the Beaumont Chapter. We are the farthest school west of the Beaumont Chapter they still took us in. If you know anything about the process of getting officials you send your schedule in at the first of September..both the boys and the girls schedules were sent in. Then they send you a copy of all your officials for each game in October. Then you are suppose to compare it with your schedule and notice any problems that might be noticed. We noticed a couple and called them back and they took the changes. Also that was the only home game the girls had on their schedule that they did not play with the boys, so you could see where it could of been an oversight by one or both parties. In the lower classsifications you might have only one or no officials show up! But if you need to blame someone please blame ME!(Coach Henry) About the tournament if Im not wrong I think Bridge City dropped the tournament before the season started and most tournaments were full by that time. Good game on both sides. Turnovers hurt Groveton the first half and two early turnovers in the 2nd half hurt HD. Game was back and forth until the end of the 3rd quarter. And like 99.9% of all HS games officials makes mistakes on both sides and 99.9% of the time it doesnt factor into the end result of the game! And just want to add that many HD players gave WH players a compliment at half-time in saying that WH players played harder than Groveton did! I thought that was impressive since many of our players have read posts on here that Groveton would kill them, even though just one or two post from HD toward WH have been negative.

Coach Abel is a first class guy and works hard and gets as much from his guys as possible. It is just a tough district and you have to face it. Coach Robertson is a good coach also. And who knows Coach Robertson hasnt said he wants to come back home to coach yet. It is not always that is to come home and coach, sometimes it has to be at the right time for the coach and the school. But as far as both guys they are good guys. Good Luck to both this year!

Normangee had Joseph Jones play for them a few years ago. He is now at A&M I think he is a Junior this year. They won state in 1A that year.
