  1. I'll never forget Ryan Donahoe's full-court shot to end the third quarter at WO-S.
  2. I think WO-S is going to go in there and take those cocky three-point chuckers right down to the wire.
  3. Wait, you mean we're playing the Silsbee boys' team? Sheesh, I thought Coach had scheduled their girls' team for our district schedule. No wonder no one gives us a chance.
  4. Thanks, Nos. Then we got Texas-OU on ESPN at 8. Life is good.
  5. Cool. That way we get to see the Rox-Lakers game on TV Tuesday night.
  6. Is this game Monday night (as listed on Coop's schedule)? What time?
  7. The Big Three put on a show tonight. Jacoby, 31 pts, and double-digit steals. Jarvis, 27 pts-- if that's an off night, we'll be all right. His handles seemed just fine, too. Trey deserves the game ball and special appreciation: Trey has been playing with a painful splinter of glass in his foot, it turns out, ever since the Aransas Pass tournament. The splinter was finally diagnosed and removed this afternoon. When I think of all the thunder dunks he's thrown down, despite that sore foot, all I can say is wow, that's one tough kid. The team defense was pretty stout tonight. This was HJ dominating a taller, more athletic team, especially compared to our 6-pt win over them in the EC tournament. Our starting post, Phillip Ricossa, went down in the first minutes of the game with a knee injury; Newton's starting PG was out with an ankle sprain. Here's hoping all the players are well by district! Only three more weeks until we get to see the Big 3 vs. the Big 11, baby!
  8. They should've traded T-Mac long ago. Now they seem to be stuck with him.
  9. It was a long way to drive, but worth it to see Jarvis knock down seven threes in the first half, and Rico making nice low-post moves.
  10. Say, do they still have that ref with the little Hitler moustache over there, the one who ejected some hilarious Hawk Hecklers during a Saturday 9 AM game three years ago? The cop who escorted them out was laughing and agreeing with them about that ref, and apologizing for having to do his job. I mean, the kids drove over on an early Saturday morning, and that sensitive little fellow had to show 'em who's boss... sigh... Anyway, it was not BH's stacked brackets, it was their refs that always annoyed this old Hawk Heckler.
  11. Surely he was being sarcastic. Ask Barber's Hill how Jarvis was sucking it up when he lit them up for 43 points in the Aransas Pass tournament championship game, while feeling miserable with fever, on antibiotics for some wicked tonsilitis. Jarvis is as tough as they come.
  12. Jarvis plays nearly the entire game, if not the entire game, unless it's a blowout. This year he's stepped up his defensive intensity, and he's had to play the point a little more than he'd care to. He's had some spectacular 3-pt shooting games, like when he hit eight of 'em @ Huntington; he's had some off nights from downtown, too. He'll always score the ball, one way or another, and he doesn't mind a few bruises for his efforts. I see he's undervalued in Coop's player rankings. For instance, that Rivon kid for Anahuac should not be rated above Jarvis-- at least that's how it looked the other day in their head-to-head matchup. Anyway, it will be interesting to see where Jarvis winds up in Coop's list come mid-March, and where he plays next year and beyond.
  13. Will there be 9th grade & JV games? Is the 6:30 PM Varsity start likely to start at 6:30? Man, that's a long way for Coach to drive that bus!
  14. Live by the three, die by the three.
  15. This is the most surprising score so far this season. It's correct? Were those two LH brothers inactive? Can anyone give us a game synopsis?
  16. If we could make half our free throws, we could win by much larger margins. Practice those free throws at home, guys!
  17. Don't get down. HJ lost three in a row before district two years ago.
  18. How Trey Burrell did not make the All-Tournament team beats me. He was dunking defenders along with the ball!
  19. Yeah, well, BH's refs can't compete with Lufkin Hudson's for notoriety-- but they're obvious enough that I'm glad HJ went to EC instead of BH. Besides, HJ already dispensed with BH, on a neutral court, a few weeks ago, 72-53. The EC tournament allowed HJ to beat Kelly, Hitchcock, and Newton, teams as good as or better than BH.
  20. Not as pretty as the previous win over Hitchcock, but a W is a W. Props to Hitchcock's heart-- they really brought it tonight. Jarvis was tournament MVP. Our Big Three played great all tournament long. Seniors Jon Spell and Dylan Klages contributed valuable minutes and hit some timely 3s. Gus did a solid job of running the point. Overall, it looks like the Hawks are improving.
  21. Man, Newton is long, quick, athletic, and has some deep-ball sharpshooters. Good job, Hawks!
  22. What in the world happened to Kelly? A team that beat Ozen lost to... Hitchcock?
  23. Come on, Silsbee! Turn up the D! Let's go!
