  1. Earl the Pearl Evans was the best I ever saw.
  2. Seems reasonable to me. But you never know. Kids at that age mature at different rates, and there's a lot of time for off-season development between now and tipoff.
  3. Actually, HJ's freshmen lost only to St. Thomas in Houston this past season. They beat Silsbee both times they played, 46-35 at Silsbee and 46-43 at home. Silsbee has some great athletes, maybe better athleticism than anyone else in their district, or even the state. HJ is going to be sufficiently athletic, and definitely disciplined enough, to beat anyone in 3A-- as long as they have their present coaching staff-- IMHO. Should be fun, again, next year, and the next... We are blessed with basketball talent in this area.
  4. That would be a very, very good player to let slip away.
  5. When Trey's looking down at the rim, that's high percentage shooting right there.
  6. Sunshine please come play for the SLAM! Send me your phone #s and email address through Ryan W if interested...
  7. Zeek, you right. My bad.
  8. I hear JonMychal recently did a 360 dunk in his bare feet. Just messin' around. And he shoots the J, with range, and accuracy, like he's on a pogo stick, right over defenders, even taller defenders... He'll be a nice boost to our offense next year, to say the least!
  9. I have seen every 9th grade, JV, and Varsity 21-3A team play at least twice this year. Barring some amazing transfer student or unforeseen development, I predict next year's 21-3A will finish same as it did this year.
  10. With JonMychal Fontenot and Elliott Deshotel and Garrett Mcneely and Jake Roby rejoining the squad, HJ will be loaded with talented seniors next year. Our press will have fresher legs than we had this year... We'll see. I think we're gonna be good.
  11. Ozen went farther than many experts predicted they'd go. Fantastic job, guys. I think the Panthers have a great shot at a state title next year.
  12. Abiline looks very fundamentally sound, and has three shooters who can really nail three-pointers. Looks like our press might work on 'em, though. HJ will win another nail-biter on Saturday. The kids are really chomping at the bit now!
  13. I wish the baseball team (half the Hawk Hecklers) could be there. I know it really helped when they walked in to a round of applause yesterday. I've never been to the Drum for the State tournament. My understanding is that it's a strange environment for the players, because the entire lower bowl is occupied by coaches who usually don't cheer for either side. Since Tyler is bigger than Sour Lake, China, and Nome put together, we fans are simply going to have to be louder and crazier than ever.
  14. We beat Aransas Pass 88-59 back at our tournament. I wonder what Wylie's got? We got Donahoe!
  15. Donahoe's gonna hit his first ten 3s. Before halftime. Hey, why not?
  16. I agree completely. This is some exciting stuff!
  17. When we hustle like we did last night, no one can beat us.
  18. Oh I so hope it's Splendora. Payback: this time it's for real.
  19. Everyone get out to the bonfire pep rally tonight, 6:30 at HJ. Bring pitchforks and chainsaws and screams for our Hawks to turn the basketball court into a gory swimming pool of Navasota Rattler blood-- ok, that's just a bit of hyperbole there-- but let's do get the boys fired up!
  20. It's time for every Hawk to turn it up a notch. HJ wins, I don't care if it's by 1 or by 60. On second thought, I do care-- I'd much prefer a big margin, with big minutes and production from the bench.
  21. Stephen Moten played huge. Fontenot hit two clutch free throws at the end. Great D in the 4th Q to spark a come-from-behind win for the Panthers. Best of luck from the HJ family to Ozen.
  22. What's the exit # or highway off of I-10 to BH? I need to give someone directions.
  23. Donahoe for President!
  24. Tramain Thomas, EC
  25. Caleb Jackson, Chireno
