**HJ vs LCM Broadcast** 8:50am Start..HJ Wins/Comments
setxslam replied to Lazeek's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Glad to read Grayson's moving well. That will be key. Look at the difference between the HJ-LCM games this season, and consider we had two starters throwing up all night last night, and you can see Grayson's impact. His 13 points this game equaled our margin of victory. His three first-half threes turned the game around. Bosha's having a sensational freshman year. I think he's the first freshman to start for HJ, which is saying something. That he's a fine student, and well-mannered, and incredibly composed, is saying even more. I'm lucky to have personally seen him knock down eight NBA-distance threes at Anahuac. From listening to Zeek's broadcasts, it sounds like his game is improving in all areas. I keep hearing Zeek say, "Bosha with the steal." I hope we'll be completely healthy by the playoffs. Could be another special year... -

Nice win for Hawks. Iron Man Award to Prudhomme, who was throwing up all night. HJ scoring: Bosha 19 Sutherland 13 Persohn 8 Gus 4 Prudhomme 3 Colbert 2 If we can just get everyone healthy, we'll have us a fully-functioning Death Star of slashers and three-point rainmakers. Go Hawks! And everyone wash your hands. -

Prudhomme allowed to remain on floor a bit, and HJ extends lead to 29 pts with two minutes to play. -

Professor at work, giving Prudhomme his fourth (foul clearly on Persohn, per Zeek) early in the third Q. -

Great job with the broadcast, Zeek! I wonder how many times Coach Sutherland has asked the Professor why he can't get the same call on the HJ end... Now that's some good color! -
So today we are all Silsbee Tigers. Let's hope this was a mild heart attack, with minimal heart muscle damage. Coach Williams, we pray for your cardiologist to roto-rooter your coronaries, fix you up better than you've been in twenty years, and get you back on the basketball court/dance floor by the playoffs!

I only really know the last 7 years or so, and don't know all the kids personally. My idea when I coached AAU and summer ball was to put together teams with good character. I just didn't have time or patience for knuckleheads. That said, this would be a line-up I'd like: Ryan Donahoe, Kris Richard, Tramain Thomas, Vance McDonald, and Kendrick Perkins. There might have been better players at some of those positions. Those are the guys at each position who just popped up first in my mind.

I missed this, from two games ago: Scotties Dominate the Larks for 10th Win Posted by jarnold 12/12/10 11:22pm The Highland Community College men’s basketball team used a dominating first half to put away the Hesston College Larks by the final of 85-69. Highland outscored Hesston 39-26 in the first half and used their lead to rest some key players in the second half for the big game on Saturday. The Scotties were led by the outstanding performance of freshman De’Andre Upchurch (Flint, Mich.) who scored 32 points on 6-10 shooting from the arc. Freshman Antonio Walker (Dublin, Ga.) continued his strong inside play with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore point guard Ryan Donahoe (Channelview, Tex.) had seven assists to just one turnover. “This is the kind of game that you simply want to get through without an injury and hopefully gain some momentum for the rest of the weekend,†said head coach Jerre Cole. “We spent so much time on the road in November that we have struggled to play well at home. This was by far our best home performance.†The Scotties, 10-3 overall, host Brown Mackie College on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 3:00 p.m. The Lions defeated the Scotties by the final of 91-89 in overtime in their first meeting.

Your Highland Scotties avenge their OT loss to Brown Mackie. I watched this game on this PC. Ryan Donahoe ran the point the entire game without a turnover-- he looks very smooth, very strong with the ball. Here's the copy-and-pasted recap from the highlandcc.edu website: Scotties Move to 11-3 at the Break Posted by jarnold 12/12/10 11:23pm Comments 0 The Highland Community College men’s basketball team’s defense stifled Brown Mackie College all afternoon on Saturday for a 62-50 victory. The Scotties moved to 11-3 overall and 3-1 in Region VI Division II play with the win. Highland was led by sophomore Jarmar Gulley (Beaumont, Tex.) with 18 points and five assists. Freshmen De’Andre Upchurch (Flint, Mich.) and Antonio Walker (Dublin, Ga.) both had 13 points in the victory. “In our pre-season meeting, we discussed what would be an acceptable win-loss record for our team at the Christmas break and we came up with 11-3. Not saying that we prophesied a great semester, but we beat the teams we should beat and lost a couple tough games,†said head coach Jerre Cole. “I really feel that we can get a lot better and play a factor in the Jayhawk East Conference race. We are just scratching the surface of how well we could play this year.†The Scotties have a long break before returning to the court. They next travel to Neosho County Community College on Wednesday, Jan. 5 for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off.

Hardin Jefferson will win 21-3A in basketball
setxslam replied to BADSANTA's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
How's the enrollment at HJ? Will HJ be dropping down to 2A any time soon? As regards 21-3A, this year, I like my Hawk's chances, especially if Grayson can get well. If we finish behind Silsbee in district, we'll look forward to a playoff showdown with the Tigers in the regional finals. But I am one of those who believe HJ is the greatest thing since the internal combustion engine. If we can just start firing on all cylinders...
