All of Vidor's varsity home games will be played at the high school stadium this year.

Vidor won first game this morning, didn't hear the score... then they lost the 2nd game 3-2...

La Porte 6-1 Vidor Travis scored Vidor's only goal... They play Friendswood tomorrow at 11 am Even with the loss they are still currently in 2nd place...

Travis just told me that JV is playing tomorrow - should be @ 5:30 with varsity playing @ 7:00. Not positive about the JV start time.

Congrats to the Bulldogs It was an intense game. The Pirates never gave up. They gave their all but it just wasn't enough. They have had a great season and us Vidor Pirate Fans will be looking forward to next year. I am very proud of our boys. You guys are 1st Class. Now - how about some soccer :) .

Travis Greenway has verbally committed to play soccer at Delta State University in 2009. Delta is a Div. II school in Cleveland, Mississippi. :)

My son is enrolled with NCSA. So far we have been very pleased. Since he signed up he has received numerous e-mails and mail from some of the colleges that were sent his profile. He will be a senior next year. Just today they posted his video on his profile. We believe that without the NCSA his chances were slim to none for him to be able to play soccer in college. So we decided that the money would be worth it. Of course there is no guarantee but based on the responses he has gotten so far we feel like his chances are pretty good. Most of the colleges that have contacted him are D2 schools. Based on the coaches that have contacted him they are unable to communicate directly (by phone) until after June 15th and he cannot officially visit until after his 1st day of his senior year. His academics are very good which a lot of the coaches are impressed with as well. I think the most important part of the NCSA being involved is the exposure. They communicate almost daily with him - keeping him organized and focused on what the next steps are - what questions to ask prospective coaches - making sure he is keeping up communications, etc. Hope this helps.

Both of my boys have played soccer - both club and high school. We tried the select clubs but quite honestly we just could not afford it. They also played in quickfoot 4x4 for several years. My oldest son is in college and he plays intermural soccer. My younger son is a junior this year and is determined to play soccer in college. We signed him up with the NCSA (National Collegiate Scouting Association). So far we have been impressed with the response he has gotten. We are in the process of putting his video together to send out. We will also be visiting some of them this summer. He is in the top 3% of his class and a 4.0 GPA so that certainly can't hurt. We have been told that most college soccer teams do not have a lot of scholarship money available but they love kids that have good academics and can play soccer too. They are able to acquire scholarships based on their academics and in turn they get a quality soccer player as well. It is a win/win situation for them. What we have learned through our two boys is you have to market them yourselves. I would appreciate the coaches opinion on this but IMO they just don't have the time and/or budget to find the right college for your kids. I know our boys coach has been more than willing to help us but we had to take the iniative ourselves. Some advice for parents of younger kids that want to play soccer in college: -Keep your own stats for every game -Take lots of video -Keep up the grades Anyone who is interested in learning more about the NCSA feel free to send me a message. We are also trying to encourage our boys to get involved with the young kids just starting out playing soccer. Volunteer to coach or at least help out. The future of soccer depends on the young ones. We cannot change the way it is today but we can work on the future.

Congrats to the Bears :) As a Pirate Mom, it means no playoffs for us but I can say the Bears deserve it. We will be your fans for the playoffs. Great season!!! Looking forward to next season. The Pirates will be ready!!!!!

You are right Bullet - but I don't think it will be enough. I am very proud to be a Pirate Mom no matter what happens on Tuesday night. :)
