I've heard nothing but good things about the organization, food, etc. We are looking foward to working with you guys this weekend. I know you will do a great job dragging those turf fields at Ford Park.
Thankfully it is turf after looking at the weather forecast for the weekend!  Hopefully everything goes smooth!!

7. nope, thats a first for me.  thats brutal.  Wonder if they are kin to this guy that was calling my sons little league game the other day?  During a pitching change, he was sitting indian style out in the grass behind 2nd base.  I had my mom taking pictures of him, I couldn't believe it.
8. This past weekend we played in the HV Money Tournament in Santa Fe, and I have to give my girls some props on here for a great weekend of softball! This tournament had 26 teams including all the top teams in the Houston and surrounding areas.  We lost our 2nd bracket game 3-1 to the tourney champs TX Ice 97.  We then won our next 4 games against some stout teams including TX Hawks, TX Gems and TX Stars to finish the tournament in 5th place.  The girls showed tremendous heart and never gave up coming from behind in 3 of our bracket games.  We played 9 games finishing with a 6-3 record, including a 9-0 butt whipping by the TX Rattlers in pool play that woke us up and taught the girls a few things!!! Pool games beat Team Mizuno 3-1 lost to TX Rattlers 9-0 Bracket games beat TX Peppers 5-4 lost to TX Ice 3-1 beat GT Shockers 10-0 beat TX Gems 7-6 in ITB ending at midnight!! beat TX Hawks 3-2 beat TX Stars 4-2 lost to TX Sting (McKinney) 4-3 Results 1st TX Ice 2nd TX Red Hots 3rd TX Storm Elite 4th TX Sting (McKinney) 5th Orange Crush, Houston Power 7th TX Rattlers, TX Stars 9th TPS, TX Hawks, TX Heat, Pearland Panthers Sorry for ranting on, but we are extremely proud of our girls!!!  That was excellent softball to watch and be part of all weekend!!
We just have some really unusually tall girls!!!  lol  ;D  If the really tall one would stop hunting me down for the pictures to make me look short it wouldn't be so bad!!
10. Orange Crush 97 beat Texas Velocity 6-2 in the championship of the Future SOT Tournament.  The girls hit the ball really well this weekend scoring 31 runs in 4 bracket games.  Team members:  Marlaysia Davis, Katie Lee, Maci Dean, Kayla Manuel, Kaitlin McFarland, Mikaela Stegall, Katelyn Dickerson, Jade Piper, Kasey Frederick, Ally Wray, Mallory Hand.
11. From KOGT.com [img][Hidden Content]] And 1 pitcher short!!  nice little cast on the pitching hand!!
12. Crush 97 played in the TPS Rodeo Roundup in Deer Park this weekend and placed 2nd out of 17 teams.  Congrats to the girls for a very well played tournament.  We were down 4-0 in the last inning and tied it up and fell 1 run short in Progressive ITB to TX Heat 97.  Way to keep fighting and battle back!!!

14. Orange Crush 97 went 5-1 in bracket play to win the USFA winter SQ in Spring this weekend.  We lost our 4th bracket game and got a little wake up call!!  Then won the 3rd place game 14-0 and the championship 10-1.  Not a very strong field of teams but we wanted to get back on the field and this was the first tournament we could find.  Got back in game situations, got our pitchers some good work and a lot of AB's in the 8 games.  Congrats to a great group of young ladies:  Marlaysia Davis, Breelyn Thames, Maci Dean, Emilee Adrio, Kayla Manuel, Kaitlin McFarland, Mikaela Stegall, Katelyn Dickerson, Jade Piper, Kasey Frederick, Ally Wray and Mallory Hand.
15.
If you think the worst problem you have at West-Orange is a potential coaching change, you are looking at the wrong area. There are schools in this area who would kill to be in the play-offs. High dropout rate, poor math scores, poor science scores, an unacceptable high school. Maybe some of the money spent of football needs to be diverted into hiring new math teachers.
Green Ice, Would you please answer venom about what school you support and how you know so much about what is going on at WO-S!!  You are a total absolute freakin idiot that wants to make WO-S look bad.  And to the people that know what is really going on at WO-S you really look stupid.  The test scores have continually been going up in most areas the last few years.  Last year scores on the HS campus were acceptable.  The reason WO-S received an unacceptable rating was because of a high drop out rate.  The one thing you were correct about.  The reason the drop out rate was high was because of all the hurricane katrina evacuees leaving with no record of where they went. Get a life and stop trying to make WO-S look bad.
16. Yes I can read, and yes I completely understand your point.  I have heard that HJ had a pretty good 7th grade team.  thats good.  I can understand your point and not agree, right.  Can you do that too?  That 6-1 record for HJ is darn good, congratulations.  7-0 is better homeboy. Will be a pretty good game between the two next year in 8th grade I guess.
17. Gas, don't worry about it, some people just can't stand to see wo-s succeed and want to try and jump on anything they can to make the Stangs look bad or to take credit away from them!!  The no district champion in MS thing is kinda funny.  Would it be the same then in freshman and jv?  because hey, they do not go to playoffs and just play a regular season just like ms.  If so why didn't ya'll jump all over Nederland because they said they were undefeated champs in freshman, or png for being champs in jv???  oh yea, its because they are not wo-s.  In 8th grade who else would be the district champ besides wo-s?  silsbee?  nope, lost to wo-s HF?  nope, lost to wo-s OF? nope, lost to wo-s BC? nope lost to wo-s (yep, it was a non-district game.  they still lost, it wasn't a scrimmage  ::) HJ? lost to just about everyone they played The wo-s 7th grade didnt give up a point the entire year!!  The only team they unfortunately did not get to play was HJ.  HF  26  HJ  6 WO-S  53  HF  0 Speake volumes!  I know you don't care, and blah blah Daytona 500, moral victory, and all that garbage.  Good thing the wo-s kids don't give a rip what you think either, they know they are district champs!!  They may have only beaten Silsbee because they had like 19 people out hurt, but thats football!!
18. The Stallions 7th grade team defeated Orangefield 28-0 to finish the season 7-0.  They outscored opponents 268-0 on the season. The Stallions 8th grade team beat Orangefield 36-14 to finish undefeated in district and 6-1 overall. Congrats guys on the outstanding seasons!!
19.
Can you imagine if reallignment throws Jasper, WO-S, and Silsbee back in the same district in Feburary 2010 or 2012 with this group of 8th graders.  Silsbee defeated Jasper, Jasper defeated WO-S and WO-S defeated Silsbee.  This will be some tremendous football to look forward to in the coming years!!!
There is no doubt about that!!  All three of them have some tremendous athletes!!!
20.
WOS 7th B- 22, OF B- 0 WOS 7th A- 28, OF A- 0 OF boys played tough and did not give up until the final whistle. they have some players over there and some good size. WOS "B" finishes the season 5-0 District Champs WOS "A" finishes 7-0 District Champs. WOS 8th A- 36, OF A- 14 WOS finishes 6-1 District Champs (4-0 district)
I think the big statistic is the 7th grade A team scoring 268 points on the season and giving up 0!!!!!
21.
I don't think any coach would go into a game with the intentions of losing it. That being said, if he doesn't start his vital players to rest them and keep them from injury and starts the backups and they lose then that's a different story. Like someone mentioned earlier, LaVega went to the state finals last year because they rested their starters the last game of the season and lost. Some people said they threw the game, others said he was a genius for doing it. Whichever it was, it gave him a shot at the title which is everyone's ultimate goal. I personally don't think Barbay will rest his starters just because of who he is. But I will say this, I guarantee you that if he does start Andrew Leigh and Chad Allen and one of them sustains a seson ending injury, you can bet that there will be doubters on this board saying, "Why risk your starters in a meaningless game?"" They have clinched a playoff spot. Losing this game will not kill them and will, in fact, give them a better chance to advance to the next round. If you look at it from a coaching stand point, he gains nothing by risking his players friday except for a little pride and people on message boards claiming he took a dive (which I really don't think he gives a crap about). All in all, it will be interesting to see what he does.
I agree 110%.  Good post gas.
