It's my understanding that HJ called at 3 o'clock to cancel and has no intention of making the game up on Monday, which was offered. Furthermore, no other school's jv canceled tonight due to threat of bad weather. LCM played in Lumberton and it only rain a little on them. It's almost ten and still hasn't rain in Orange. What's up with that? It was a district game to our jv players. I don't care if anybody agrees with me or not. I'm just giving my opinion.
"W" First you blame the volleyball team?!?! Then you make up, oops I mean you "understand" that HJ called everything off?!? What else do you "understand" to be the truth that we should know. Really.
Just for the sake of stirring things up on this beautiful SETX Friday morning!! Not necessarily what I believe to be true but, wasn't HJ upset about the volleyball game being cancelled?? Then they cancelled the MS volleyball games on Monday, and there were no football games on Thursday. Could it be a little payback with the help of a rain shower?? ;D By the way, did HJ cancel schools today, it is raining and I am sure there are some kids that live quite a distance from the school that will have to ride the bus in the rain!! ;D ;D ;D ;D And I think I am going to watch and see how many HJ basketball games are cancelled because of approaching cold fronts. Just for the fun of it!! Go ahead and get after me!! I couldn't resist getting ya'll good and stirred up!!! ;D ;D

I have kind of mixed feelings on this. First off I understand the kids safety issue, but the first thing that comes to my mind is football is the most physical, violent sport in schools and every time they step on the field there is the threat of a kid getting seriously injured, yet they do not cancel football. Secondly, every other school in the area to my knowledge is playing tonight, and it just so happens the WO-S MS games were the only ones not played last week too. I feel sorry for these kids that go out and bust their tail every day and dont get to play. I guess it is a good thing they cancelled though because its pouring down rain all over the golden triangle!! ::) ::) And how do we know it was a mutual agreement?? If one school calls and says it is supposed to rain we arent playing, can the other make them play or just say ok?? Not sure how it went down, just asking a question. a little food for thought on this rainy setx evening!! But, who knows, if they would have played a tornado may have raced thru and took out the whole stadium. I guess its better safe than sorry, but I am glad I dont have to live my life afraid of what might happen.

I sure hope HJ doesn't cancel on us. The kids need to play!
YOU AINT LIEN. HEARD DAT WOS HAD A GAME CANCELLED LAST WEEK. THAT WOULD BE 2 DISTRICT GAMES
yup, it did. BC had to cancel because of their field being in such bad shape with all the wet Friday night games I am guessing because it stopped raining about 3:00 that day and all the other games were played. The only good thing about it is that those 2 teams played a preseason game before district so they can count that as the district game.

These kids are 12-14 years old..
Not that it matters, but just so you know. In the 7th grade game WO-S basically shut down the offense in the 2nd half. HF kept throwing the ball up and at least 2 were intercepted and run back for touchdowns. Starters were out of the game and you cannot tell reserve guys to not do their best, they are trying to prove themselves. Pretty much same story on the 8th grade. WO-S only ran about 6 plays in the first half. They had 3 defensive TD's before half. They put in backups in the 4th qtr and scored 3 TD's on long runs that were right up the gut. HF kept throwing the ball which stopped the clock on incompletes. Then WO-S would get the ball and run up the middle and break it long. It looked to me like the clock operator tried to run the clock through an incomplete pass and the HF coach griped and called a TO. I may be wrong but that is the way it looked. This was definitely not WO-S fault. I watched WO-S kneel out the clock on the 2 against KV when they could have easily scored again.

The thread was originally posted on the HS board and then moved. I think that is why he had posted that.

Anybody know HF vs OF score????

score for 8th grade game??
-
That freakin 8th grade game was unbelievable. It was 12-6 at half and was back and forth in the second half. WO-S was on the good end of a couple of turnovers after intermission and pinned the Tigers back inside their 10 twice in the 2nd half on punts!! Great game to watch!!!!!! It was a war!!!

Not necessarily a bad thing. Injuries can happen anywhere anytime. I quit football after my freshman year to avoid injury and was the starting varsity catcher as a sophomore. The weekend before district started I was in a collision at the plate and tore my MCL. Out for the year. If it is going to happen there is no stopping it!! Good luck on a speedy recovery! -

Orange Crush 97 tryouts - 12U **2nd tryout cancelled**
Homer replied to Homer's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
We want to start by thanking the people that attended our tryout on the 8th. We had a great turnout and pretty much saw what we were looking for at that tryout and have decided to cancel the 2nd tryout to start practicing as we need to get ready for our first tournament 9/5-9/6. If you you were unable to attend that tryout and would still like to do so please contact us and we will set something up for you. Thanks Michael Shugart (409)779-1593 -

I know the 8th grade teams were undefeated. What is really surprising is that not a single point was scored against either the A or B team.... This year's 9th grade group will have some studs. WO-S 8th grade A & B teams did go undefeated but the 8th grade A team did give up 6 pts. last year. The lone touchdown scored was by HJ on an interception that was ran back to about the 10 yd. line and they scored a few plays later. The 7th grade team did lose 2 games last year I believe to Silsbee and OF but they do have some talent on that squad and hopefully will do a little better this year. I hear the incoming 7th grade team is loaded but we will just have to wait and see!! -
