1. Nobody uses charters in NISD anymore...the football team rode the yellow dogs for their playoff game as well...NISD much like many districts in Texas are facing tight financial times and cutting out the charter busses is one cost cutting measure that has been implemented this year
 2. Nederland JV over BC, 5-3 and then LCM, 7-2...Crosby beat Lumberton, 7-4 as well.
 3. LCM may very well be very good next year, but if you are looking for an indication of how good they were without Gonzales, look at the Nederland game, where they got hammered...even though Gonzales played, he was limited quite a bit and the result was not so favorable...don't underestimate replacing a guy with that level of talent...again, I am not saying that LCM won't be good, simply stating that Gonzales' graduation leaves more room for questions/the unknown. Same type scenario exists for Nederland, where I think they will be much improved on defense with so many returners who gained valuable experience last year...the offense may end up being good, but there are certainly more question marks and unknowns on that side of the ball with the loss of guys like Sonnier, Salenga, Jones, Forney, and others...for what its worth, I see these 4 making the playoffs next year, in no particular order: Nederland, PNG, Central, and Livingston...Ozen will be a threat so long as Green stays healthy (he is the real deal IMO), Vidor had some young guys get playing time last year and this will help them as well...as for now, I see Lumberton and LCM as the strugglers, but you never know.
 4.

The Beaumont Enterprise is quoting Lamar Head Football Coach Ray Woodard who says that the Mustangs and the Bulldogs will play their 2011 season opener at Provost Umphrey.
where did they play last year?
pretty sure it was at NHS
 5.

actually he is rt. With png being two games up, all they have to do is win and they are in. (so he is rt) And really when it comes down to it, if they beat lcm and vidor and lose the rest they will be in.
True, but against their final 4 opponents, PN-G went 1-3 the first time around.  Soulja is just trying to say that the 4th place spot is anything but wrapped up. Someone with an apparent axe to grind is just trying to make more out of it than is really there.
Couldn't agree more, grad...couldn't agree more...whole lotta something made out of nothing. Hang in there, soulja...lol!
 6. Wow!  I just had a flashback to my college stat class!!!  can we talk about permutations now...lol?
 7. to confirm, neither of Nederland's starting big men had NOT fouled out by the end of the game.
 8. I wasn't saying Abel was right or wrong...truthfully, if it was me making the call, I would have played it differently and that could have worked out or maybe that wouldn't have worked out either...I just feel that it is way too easy to criticize after the fact when the result is known but I also understand that it is everyone's right to disagree...I just know that I don't make the right call at my job 100% of the time and neither does anyone else on this board...we work with the information we have (coaches have more than fans) and make what we think are the best choices at the time based on that info. Again, great game by both teams...sure was fun to watch, but now it is time to move on to the next one!
 9. I am sure in a rivalry like this, there are instances where both sides behave badly...I am not saying this is proper behavior but it is a bit "high and mighty" for PNG fans to come on here and complain about Nederland's kids when I can assure you that I have first hand seen some pretty sad behavior from PNG students at Nederland games as well...unfortunate by product of an intense rivalry...my point is, just don't come on here saying "Nederland's students did this and Nederland's students did that" when the same type of behavior happens on the other side as well. As for the guy who says playing it the way he did, Abel only gave PNG a 25% chance of winning?  I assume by this you felt that PNG had NO chance of winning in OT?  PNG played a great game and their kids should be commended...hard way to lose for sure, especially coming off of another buzzer beater with Central...Coach Abel is a great guy and in that situation you have to trust that a coach knows his team better than the average fan...it is so easy to judge after the fact...if PNG had won, everyone would be on here second guessing Coach English (inappropriately, I might add) and praising Abel as a hero...at the end of the day, it comes down to execution by the players and some times just the good old fashioned breaks. Again, as a Bulldog fan, I tip my hat to PNG for a well played game and a great effort although I was certainly happy with the outcome!
 10. April 12-14 at PNG is the 20-4A meet...my son runs track and that is what it says on his schedule

 12. Thanks, Soulja...dumb comment by "we are not"

Don't count out the Tigers. I think they will play better than what most people think they will play. Who cares if a team has a bunch of D1 players. It takes a team effort. Not a bunch of individuals. Let's go Tigers!
Are you saying thay Galveston Ball don't play as a team?
I agree, Soulja...I have seen Ball play and I would not call them a bunch of individuals...they play well together
 14. until you said "just pickin", I thought I was gonna have to smite you there shovlehead...after all, Nederland did beat PNG this year so losing MCM again just didn't sound right... ;)
 15. Look for the D to be pretty stout with 9 returners...O does have a few returners with some experience, but basically the entire receiving corp. will have to be replaced and 3 OL spots that need to be filled...the key will be replacing some quality senior leadership that existed on this years team...plenty of capable replacements...curious to see who steps up...overall, I think the Dogs will be very solid next year...the Dogs will have close to 30 returning players from this years team...the JV should have a few contributers move up and this years freshman team went undefeated and has some athletes that can help next season as well
 16.
Seriously I have read this thing about 20 times and think I finally got the meaning. I'll break it down by sentence. 17. Awesome!  Hopefully he has a few weeks of football left in him first...Congrats, Trevin on a great career at NHS and continued success at the next level
Because it was a 3way tie between lcm nederland and livingston.
not certain about this, but I believe the next tiebreaker is point differential between the three teams if the records are the same (as they were in this case with all three being 1-1) Yes, I know it was a 3-way tie.  What were the tie-breaker rules to decide which of the two schools made the playoffs.  Normally I would think the first tie-breaker would have been the head-to-head result however, since LCM beat Livingston, Livingston beat Nederland and Nederland beat LCM it would need to fall to the next tie-breaker(s). Any of you football gurus out there know the answer?
19. Good luck to the Jags, too, Soulja...I would love to see that happen...tall order for both clubs but it all starts next week
 20. wow, smitty has two sign ons now...

He is water cooler quarterback.
edit: inappropriate post

You need to go and listen to Raheem Morris the Tampa Bay's head coach press conferences. Emphasizes that stats dont matter, wins do. With young talented players there will be some hard lessons along the way. But in end it is about winning and make the playoffs. Before you make anymore comments on this board about the Dog's D and the coaches, you need to watch and listen! That is what real football people understand.
Bulldog8, I believe you have it right there
 22. In case you haven't noticed, you are talking to yourself
 23. Of the ones I have seen (and we have yet to play Gonzales), Green is the one I woudl least like to face again so I would have to go with him...it is a very strong group of QBs IMO
