1.
Razor- Do you have a better reason for why Nederland is a dark horse?
I just think that no one is talking much about the Dogs and I feel they will end up being better than most suspect...there will be quite a bit of youth, particularly in the lines on both sides of the ball, but the kids they have are plenty capable and will simply have to adjust to the varsity game, which I fully suspect they will, given time...skill position wise, Nederland has plenty coming back with multiple experienced receivers...everyone seems to be overly concerned about the QB position, but I am not...to me, there are 3 very viable options at that position, all of which I am comfortable with...Nederland will have a good QB, it just remains to be seen who that will be...I am confident that they can win with any of the 3 or even a combination of the 3 in some fashion...i look for the Dogs to perhaps start out a bit slow as they feel their way thru some new faces but continue to improve as the season goes on and peak come the end of the season as Neumann and company have become so adept at doing
2. congrats and best of luck going forward
3. No one seems to be giving Nederland much hope this year, so i will pick the Dogs as my darkhorse...I think they will be better than most suspect, especially later in the year as their young players develop
4. me too...can't wait...planning a road trip to McNeese for first game as well
5. Congrats...making it there is a huge accomplishment in and of itself...glad to see a local guy make good...continued success
there is more than that!
Well, then don't just make that statement, come clean with the info!
....or don't say anything at all
7. Plus a great effort deep into the game by Mattison to help the pitching down the road
8. not sure but i think he is...i am just following this via the SLC Baseball twitter feed and the updates don't give alot of details
9. LU is playing Northwestern State...LU back up again on a SF in the top of the 3rd to take a 3-2 lead
10. Lamar up early 2-1 in the top of 2
11. To whoever made the bus comment...get a life...please...great season Dogs.
12. looks like Nederland's voters sent a message to the "don't CARE" committee...both of their endorsed candidates got beat in last week's school board election
13. No matter what happens at QB, Forney will not be on the bench next to coach next season...if he is not QB, then look for him to start at DE and log some time at WR as well
14.

Big game tonight with a 60% chance of rain sat. I wonder if any thought has been givin to moving games 2 & 3 to friday.
I'm betting it's someones prom.
Not Nederland's plus I doubt prom would be on a Friday night...Saturday is more typical, isn't it?
15. this is certainly a better pre-district schedule than they have played in the past
16.
Luckily Nederland has Bellow & Laird to carry them. It has been a 2 man rotation all year and it makes me sad when Cody doesn't get the credit he deserves.
I'll back you up on that 1696...Laird has had a so-so season of 11-0...not too bad...Cody has been very effective this year and this gives Nederland a 1-2 punch on the mound as good as any
17. not too many yaks hit at Metreyon-Delahoussaye field with the wind that blows in the way it does there
18. stealing third with 2 outs and chasing 4 runs???  Wow...wtg Dogs...2010 District Champs
19.
Ohh...  I see.  You're talking about the kid after Bellow went down...  I believe he got hurt so The kid I'm talking about  was 3rd string and Forney was 4th string?
bingo, my friend...now you've got it (despite my poor attempt to explain it)
20. agreed baddog and that's the way it should be...open competition during the off season right up to opening night...I think you clarified it better than I did to Soulja, but he was actually not comparing Forney to Smith, which is who the competition this season is between...good position for Nederland to be in...I truly feel like we can win with either one taking the snaps
21. the other QB in the mix with Forney for the job was not suited out when we played you guys, Soulja so you cannot be talking about him...I agree that Forney was far and away our best option last year after Bellow and Smith went down and he did some remarkable things that basically saved our season...I am not saying Forney may not be the best choice, because he well could be, but the guy you are comparing him to is not the guy he is locked in competition with now
22. not so sure about that Soulja...in any event, the decision will be made by the coaches who see them and work with them every day throughout the season and off-season...again, what is best for the team overall will win out I am sure...again, I think that Nederland cannot really go wrong here...multiple outstanding candidates IMO and I feel like they can win with any of them under center.
23. agreed there fb...that group has a lot of talk but in reality all they have done is complain about the current state of affairs in Nederland and done nothing (zip, nada, butkus, zilch) to improve things...I haven't seen the first plan of action from the CARE committee...their plan is to do nothing and let nature take it's course I suppose
