and it can be set too low, I agree...no argument there...it can also be set unrealistically high...wanting to get rid of guys for failure to win SC's falls in that category IMO
-
I am figuring this out...Reagan must be a politician...he attempts to takes what others say and make it fit his narrative. I'll simplify for you...Great or very good coaching alone will in no way guarantee you what you measure as the only form of success, an SC...you can have the very best of coaches and still not reach the promised land
-
According to Reagan, they are horrible failures...lol
-
Never said that chief...read the whole comment...I said that the circumstances back then were FAR different and the playing field from a pure numbers standpoint was more level You can be a great coach, but if you don't have the numbers or the talent pool, it alone will NOT produce you a state championship...my point is that being judged, in this environment, purely on whether or not you "win state", is not a good barometer...Etheridge, as fine of a coach as he was, would have found the sledding a bit harder in this situation Just find another measuring stick to determine whether your coach should keep his job or not...there are plenty of other things you can measure him by

Not saying it's impossible, but let's just say that anyone hoping for a Nederland or png state championship as the divisions are currently constructed better not hold their breath...it's a huge numbers game disadvantage...5A Div 2 has about a 600-700 enrollment number disparity with those 2 being on the lower end of that...this isn't the 70's and 80's or even 90's when the playing fields were more level...no one's fault, just the way the state of Texas has grown and how many new schools have popped up as a result...also, the boundaries are blurred as many are very close together geographically and kids have a bit of a "choice" as to where they go...just saying maybe some who play certain sports chose to go to certain schools and this creates pretty strong programs...that doesn't exist here

Oh wise one, this is the first time barrow has NOT made the playoffs…before you make such statements, please fact check

Mighty Mecca whining for calls against lowly Nederland?

Uhh, spider, it’s the same people who have been coaching them to success for many years…invalid argument

Santa Fe at Nederland/Nederland wins 31-0

Why would you put your best playmaker in harms way in the wildcat in a game that you are gonna win regardless?? -
Nederland at Port Neches-Groves/Nederland wins MCM 38-28!

look, I'm a Dog fan, but png is a above average coached team IMO and Faircloth is a legit good guy...wish him the best except for one week a year -
Cole Crippen is the QB for png

Should be fun, but it will give us a point of comparison to see if any adjustments or improvement is made…short window to do so, but will be more interesting to see than anything else

LU absolutely dominated again by Abilene Christian, 56-0....I am willing to give the new coach a chance to establish his program...this is his first "real" season after only a few games in the spring, but this program isn't even competitive at this point...it isn't going to get any easier moving to the WAC...right now, it appears that Lamar "wants" to be big time, but is nowhere near ready to do so...A bit disappointed at this point, I must say. This was 56-0 to ACU, not Texas A & M or another big time FBS program...ACU??

Last point…when 2 teams are as evenly matched as these 2 often are, it often comes down to who has the best player…last night, that proved to be #8 for Nederland…the kid is special and can score anytime he has his hands on the ball…proved that tonight -

Great game…personally I think png gave up on the run game too soon…nederland played it better in the second half, but never really controlled it…png was only down 3 with 5:36 left and had a reasonable chance to run the ball down the field and control the clock leaving Nederland very little time great resilience by the dogs…finished on a 24-0 run!! -
Sheffield productions is live streaming ALL Nederland games this year on YouTube...go to YouTube and type Sheffield Productions in the search box and it will bring you there
-
Gotta be one of the shortest MCM threads ever!! I think it shows the uncertainty that both sides have about tonight's outcome...here's for one helluva, highly competitive game where both teams come out injury free...telling number is the point differential over the last 20 years that someone posted earlier...50 points over 20 years! crazy close...hoping for the same tonight, with a late Bulldog victory!! Go Dogs!

Cmon eagle….kids don’t make mistakes…mommas and daddy’s won’t stand for that from their perfect angels…only coaches…lack of accountability IMO
-
the definition of "bad coaching" would be to put a kid under center if he had never practiced that...not sure if this is the case at BU, but sounds like it may be...you cannot, especially in a critical moment, call on players to do things that they have not worked on

Ridiculously Early 5AD2 '21 Playoff Prediction
Razor replied to AledoAlumni's topic in High School Football
regarding live tackling, my guess is that the exact opposite is true and png's stance is not that rare...from what I hear and know, most teams avoid much heavy hitting in practices as it too often had resulted in injuries that kept players out of games...this is not different from nfl teams either...go to a live practice or training camp and you will not see players hitting the ground...heck, I've actually witnessed a player get yelled at for putting a player on the ground in an nfl practice...does it lead to poorer tackling? I certainly believe it does, but it does lead to fewer practice injuries, which I think is a huge plus...coaches just don't want players hurt in any circumstance, but losing them in practice drives them nuts. So rest easy, png fans...your lack of tackling and hitting in practice is not that rare -

Any thoughts on how is Nederland going to be in 2021?
Razor replied to spidersal's topic in High School Football
they will return 2 all district LB's as well as an all district CB...most of the OLine will return as well along with , of course, Fuselier...Dogs will be fine and be in contention for a playoff spot, I suspect. -
congrats to all of these young men!

great season, Crosby...just ran into a buzzsaw with this Aledo team
