  1. this team will be plenty good enough...there is some real talent on this 15 year old team...there are some key players that either did not play or opt out of all stars, but there are plenty of new faces that were not in the leaue last year that pick up the slack...this team will be very good.
  2. Countless hours, no pay, and listening to way too much complaining probably contribute to the turnover...my take, if you are not willing to do the job yourself, then respect the efforts of those who are....this years board was comprised of some very fine people...I am not sure how the Board will look next year but we will find out soon enough...as for the All Stars, which was the original purpose of this thread, those will be announced tonight...best of luck to all MC teams
  3. Nice backhanded compliment. You should have not posted at all. Gotta agree with that...not real sure what the point of the post was???
  4. Congrats to GTB...quite an accomplishment!
  5. 14 and 15 year old All Stars will be announced at closing cermonies on Thursday night of this week...probably at about 7:30pm at Bob Harmon Park.
  6. That's not hard luck, just bad teams. I think he is looking for good teams that loose key players in critical points of the season or seem to always get shafted in the three way tie breaker or coin toss! My bad then badndn...I just assumed you were referring to PNG with that comment.
  7. you are correct that Nederland benefitted from the PNG as well, but no one is one here saying that Nederland is a "hard luck" team...my point was that I do not consider PNG a "hard luck" team either because they lost a coin toss that would have been averted if they had taken care of their business that year with Nederland.
  8. Joe, MJ beat Magic's Lakers for their first title so Magic was not retired nor was Bird, although they were at the end of their careers...heck they played together on the 1992 Dream Team...listen to comments from Magic and Bird regarding Jordan and they will tell you how great he was...MJ was simply the best and absolutely a monster in big games and situations...if he were in today's game in his prime, no doubt, IMO, that he would still be the best player in the game...I simply don't think he would have settled for anything less...Kobe and Lebron are both great in their wn rights, but MJ they are not.
  9. You are correct bigdog...i guess it would have been more fair for Nederland to miss out that year with the same record as PNG AND a win over PNG as well...seems like PNG was on the good side of a big break a few years prior in their game with Ozen...anyone remember that...I'll bet Coach Brooks does!
  10. If you are going to do that, I think you are just better suited doing away with D1 and D2 altogether...seems like a pointless game otherwise.
  11. That's not hard luck, just bad teams. I think he is looking for good teams that loose key players in critical points of the season or seem to always get shafted in the three way tie breaker or coin toss! You still sore about that one badndn...bout time to let that one go, you think?
  12. In general, I like Lebron and don't really care for Kobe, but the situations are not comparable at all...Kobe's series is far from over and he did actaully talk ot the media...Lebron's season and series were done and he did not handle it in a very mature fashion IMO.
  13. yeah but it doesn't hurt to run a 4.4, just ask the teams who make state year-in year-out. That's Vidor achilles heel every year practically Todd Dodge's SLC teams didn't have 4.4 sprinters on there team. How did they when so many State Championships? They were well coached with a great system. Very true, and they just had a swagger about them that kept 'em winning!! I never take too much away from 7on7, because pads make all the difference in the world - but good luck to PNG with its new coach and system. Good point...7 on 7 is hardly the same game...I do believe that it helps with the development of QBs and receivers, but success in 7 on 7 does not equal success in the fall with pads.
  14. This is an excellent unbiased post. You will get 2 karma points for that! 8) Thanks Soulja...should be a real interesting season coming up!
  15. At this point, it is hard to say who will be where, especially with all of the coaching changes and new systems being put in place in 20-4A...I suspect Vidor will be tough this year, but they may have some questions on defense...Nederland will be strong but will have to rely on alot of unproven players, particularly on the defensive side of the ball...PNG will improve just from an uptick in enthusiasm, I suspect, but I don't see them contending for the DC just yet...Lumberton has their program going in the right direction, but they have been awfully strong on their offensive and defensive lines the past 2 years and I hear that may not be the case as much this year, which could make the going tougher for them...Central always has great athletes, but lost a really good coach...LCM and Ozen will be implementing new programs as well and who knows what Livingston will have...they lost a tremendous athlete in their QB/S who made an awful lot of plays, but I figure they will be solid...my very early picks: 1. Nederland 2. Vidor 3. Central 4. Lumberton 5. PNG 6. Livingston 7. Ozen 8. LCM In other words, all of the teams have question marks that need to be answered...it will be interesting to see who answers theirs the best.
  16. Congrats to all the kids who made it.
  17. uh, let me think...no! It's OK to be high on your team, but be realistic.
  18. Respect is earned by the way you play AND the way you act...you are doing much to earn it by these type of comments...most people who go around begging for respect, rarely get it.
  19. Atta boy, Dogs!! Keep this run goin...great job guys! Thanks for the updates phatmack.
  20. Thanks for the clarification DV...usually there is more to these stories than meets the eye...it just looked strange on the surface to spend months looking for a coach and ultimately end up with the guy who was already there.
  21. I am not "in the know" regarding BISD...can someone answer why it took so long to hire the guy they already had? not being critical, just wondering?
  22. Lufkin? that stinks...yep, the Nederlanders owe them one since they let them off the hook in football last year in Round 2 of the playoffs...hopefully our Dogs can get them back on the diamond.
  23. Thanks, circle...good luck Dogs!
