  1. that's good...I cant imagine that he punts a whole lot
  2. how we would anyone know this? that kid most likely never plays a down (punter for Aledo)...he must run track...he's got to be bored silly if all he does is punt for Aledo!!
  3. While yesterday certainly did not go as the Dogs had hoped, this team certainly overachieved...pre season, many had them as a question mark to make the playoffs...they won district and two playoff games to compile a very respectable 9 win season...only one team in each division has their season end the way they want, so hats off to a team that proved to be far better than most expected!!
  4. Granted, I have only seen the one PT game, and they have a potent offense...I think the Dogs D does enough and gets that one extra stop to have Nederland prevail...Dogs by 8
  5. I would agree with this with the exception of Jacksonville and that’s only because I didn’t see that game...sterling was better than Santa Fe and Dayton IMO
  6. I prefer to call spider our resident "pessimist"...he expects every play of every game to go Nederland's way...football just doesn't work that way! it's a game of ups and downs and teams that overcome the downs the best prevail. In any event, when you look at the game in totality, the Dogs were pretty dang solid...holding a team to barely over 100 yards is impressive, regardless of the opponent...even more difficult in a blowout when trash time yards are often wracked up...perfect performance? no, but those are extremely rare in this game...next week should naturally be tougher, but most objective folks would have to consider this team to have been more successful than anyone thought
  7. Meaningless? It was the difference between an outright DC or a 2 seed for Crosby...if they thought it was meaningless, that way be why they got beat!! I agree that it was good to see both teams emerge healthy for the playoffs. go Dogs!
  8. Dang, this can’t taste too good right about now...you were only off by 46 points and where is 14.2?
  9. Down goes Mecca!!!
  10. prayers for certain
  11. I clearly said that Crosby was favored...what part of that did you miss?
  12. said the same years ago when I went to watch vidor play Summer Creek in a playoff game...vidor was never going to stop the SC offense, so why ever punt and they should have onside kicked every time...that night anyway, whether SC had 90 yards or 50 yards to travel, the result was going to be the same, a score...why not at least give yourself a chance to get or keep the ball
  13. Crosby 98 Nederland -6 Based on 14.2, that's the only prediction I can make...not sure how Nederland scores negative points, but the mighty mecca can somehow make that happen, I'm sure reality is that Crosby is a big favorite and should win this game...just for fun, I would like to go ahead and have the boys lace 'em up and play anyway
  14. lol...Leeroy ain't getting under my skin...I was actually just poking some fun at him a bit and trying to get under his. one thing we can agree on is the best of luck to our local teams that are fortunate enough to make the post season...let's play a few weeks after the regular season and have make some memories along the way
  15. Nice...glad to see him have a good start
  16. if that's all that matters to your season, then congrats and enjoy watching the playoffs from the couch...you are telling me that if png was 1-9 with the lone win being over Nederland every year that you would be ok? keep in mind that you were a QB injury to nederland away from this week being irrelevant and already being out of the playoffs...
  17. Man, I wonder why Nederland is even bothering to make the trip???sounds pretty hopeless against the all powerful mecca of Texas HS football
  18. Yep...dogs I believe just secured no worse than a 2 seed with the png loss...that would mean a first round home game
  19. Massive effort by the Dogs...they did not play a clean and near perfect game, but they never folded, kept punching, overcame some hellaciously bad calls late in the game and got the W...super proud of the effort and that is something to build on for the rest of this season...gritty and I love it
  20. That’s not the way it works...it goes to point differential between the 3 teams...png is toast in this scenario due to the huge loss to BH
  21. You likely know better than me about the numbers...a very unofficial source told me that the BH 8th grade class was the biggest they ever had and that would count in next realignment, thus my thoughts...I could easily be wrong about that
  22. For starters, BH had better get used to playing bigger schools...rumor has it that their enrollment will cause a move up next realignment. To me, BH is the clear favorite here...Nederland has a solid team, but I, too, watch Nederland every year, and I would not consider this team to be an "above average" Nederland team...I am a big Dog fan, but the most recent 3 wins were against the bottom feeders from the district, who frankly, just weren't very good...that said, Nederland did what they should do to these teams and beat them all handily...BH will not fall into that category. For what it's worth, I think Nederland, full healthy, is a bit better than png...I know png beat Nederland this year, but our QB got injured in that game and missed about half of it and wasn't full strength when he returned...injuries like that cannot happen against BH or it will be a long night for the Dogs...BH manhandled png, so it would stand to reason that Nederland needs to play a clean, mistake free game to compete with BH, that said, I think they can pull it off: Dogs 38 BH 35
  23. gonna have to change the fight song to "always be faithful to purple and white and gray"
  24. I am going to change spiders name to "Mr. Optimistic"... he always looks at the bright side when it comes to Nederland. I think Nederland will be OK and I do agree that they need to improve...I think you are putting too much stock in the png loss...they played without their dual threat QB for nearly half of that game and he wasn't healthy when he came back in...it's all part of the game, but he seems to be better now and if he stays healthy, he gives that offense a whole different dynamic. room for improvement? absolutely!! dead in the water...no. Go Dogs!
  25. 38-7 is pretty lopsided, especially when you consider that Nederland is at it's best when they play ball control...not sure what you were expecting???
