  1. rider, I think that you mentioned a key point...strength, size, and speed...these kids seem to have a rare combination of all three.
  2. I think I'll go watch Nederland play Magnolia this weekend...is that what you mean??
  3. You are probably right, bru...i just tend to be more understated...put it this way, the future looks bright.
  4. I think what you saw last friday night was a sneak peek of things to come for Nederland in the not too distant future...the talent pool in grades 10, 9, and 8 is going to produce some very solid Nederland teams.
  5. Please don't play the "if" card...dang this is one of my pet peeves...injuries are as much a part of football as anything...it is unfortunate that this kid got hurt and missed the game, but most teams have to deal with some type of adversity and/or injuries...you lost, accept it and move on...your kids had a great year and your program is moving in the right direction...don't start making excuses.
  6. You've got to be kidding me? In a pee wee game no less...some people really need to get a life and a grip...pathetic...whoever is responsible should be banned for life, period!
  7. These kids played with amazing grit tonight..great win with the odds stacked against them big time...no one picked Nederland to win, you basically spot them 2 early TDs after turnovers, and you suffer three huge key injuries during the game and still win...great to see the sophs step up like they did and grant lovelady ran very well when grogan was battling injury...despite what the number would tell you, this defense stepped up tonight and made key stops when they had to. Way to pull this one out Dogs!! Great effort and great win...looking forward to next week against Magnolia...also definitely wish for speedy recoveries for bellow, brady, and grogan.
  8. This is purely superstitous because the Dogs seem to do better when I make a pick, so here goes. Nederland 28 CE King 20
  9. Very true comment about no scores on the subs either...CO played their subs plenty due to the nature of their games being blowouts and even the subs allowed no points, which is equally impressive...bottom line, both teams were clearly the class of the district and unfortunately did not get to play each other...they should get their opportunity to play each other next year at the freshman level and it should be fun to watch...CO will get some help next year from the Central MS kids and should only be better...I am sure Lumberton's kids will work hard in the offseason and will improve as well...the game will be at the end of the season, so hopefully things like grades and injuries won't keep either team from being at full strength.
  10. I think we will hear Coach Woodard's news this Thursday if I am not mistaken.
  11. Effort ain't the issue...besides, what they have done up to this point does not matter...a new season begins this Friday night and everyone is one loss away from goin' home.
  12. Razor, normally you tell everything that you know. You holdin' out on us now? I hate to but got to this time...if I am right, then the news will be pretty big.
  13. if you are gonna be that freakin negative, then at least change your name...if i was in a foxhole with you, I'd shoot you and fight by myself.
  14. I was thinkin maybe put 12 in the box and see what happens.
  15. woodards news will be bigger than that...trust me.
  16. play as many as you can, i say...Nederland has historically had some really good athletes that skip out on football to specialize in something else...I sure hope this group doesn't go that direction because they have the opportunity to do some good things
  17. Not to underestimate the game at all, but it does appear that this game may be less important than it originally was supposed to be...both are going to the playoffs regardless of the outcome, however, you do not want to go in playing poorly, nor do you want to go in with key injuries...I think both coaching staffs will be taking that into consideration this week as they prepare for each other, but more importantly, for the playoffs...I sure would like to beat lumberton, but I would like a deep playoff run more...don't be surprised if both coaches try to get the regulars some reps and then defer to the backups later, although lumberton may have more to play for in hopes of avoiding Dayton in round one.
  18. Wow, that's pretty much a sour grapes post if I ever heard one, not to mention riduculously inaccurate! How do you figure Grogan is weak in spirit? The kid bounces off of more intial contacts than anyone in the district, runs for a game clinching 80+ yard TD and then for good measure, comes in for his only defensive play of the year and gets a close out sack on vidor's QB...yep, pretty weak spirited, I suppose. Nederland has other receivers that can beat you, but vidor insisted on playing Asa one on one all night and you just cannot do that...classic example of Nederland taking what was given them by the vidor D. The defense apparently did not "get down" late in the game when they had 2 critical stops to seal the victory. Fortunately, I have more respect for vidor's fans than to allow your ignorant post be a reflection of the entire community, but you could not be more wrong...rather than bash on a team that beat you, why don't you praise the effort of your own young men, who, as usual, played hard until the final whistle
  19. Agreed...it was a really entertaining HS football game...vidor played well and with alot of heart, but Nederland just had too many weapons on offense and got the critical stops when they needed them on D...great game by both teams...great job by vidor with the pregame prayer and a pretty awesome halftime show
  20. I agree Soulja...that was one of the cheapest techs I have ever seen...if Artest can keep his head on straight and Yao and McGrady can stay half way healthy (big if though), I think the Rockets can be serious contenders in the West.
  21. Certainly hope the kid is OK and can resume play ASAP and if not, hope he can heal properly and play again in the future.
  22. One correction, CO Wilson has played their second team at least one quarter every game. Some games they played most of the second half. That has been going on for two years now. And it shows when the back-ups come in. They look pretty good. They have had that advantage because of some huge leads. I did see your line coach sitting their at half time while the other coaches were talking to the kids in the end zone. I can surely say that is the most pathetic thing I have ever seen in my life. That, in my opinion is enough to smoke MB. The Athletic director is over all athletics and that is completely unacceptable. That's a good point, but I am mistaken or is MB not the actual AD at PNG? I thought I remembered hearing that he was not the AD. If he is not, who is?
  23. And that's exactly the way it should be.
  24. The game is going to come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes...it seems to me, the teams are pretty evenly matched...whichever team can minimize the turnovers and penalties will come out on top.
  25. Comeaux, vidor is the favorite tonight, so he is picking against traditional wisdom. All you have to do is read some of your own posts to figure that out.
