  1. It's all good chewca
  2. You are right about eagleago3's scenario except for the records...Nederland, Livingston, and vidor would all have 1-1 records against each other and then it would go to point differential...eagle's scenario had Nederland beating vidor and losing to Lumberton and vidor turning around and beating Livingston after the Nederland loss...clear as mud??? From my understanding, records between the teams tied is the first tie breaker.
  3. It'll be clearer Friday night by about 10:30 or 11.
  4. cutlass, i don't think anyone here is taking vidor lightly by any stretch...this will be a tough game and I feel pretty confident about that...you talk about Nederland being overconfident though and all the Nederland posters are saying is that they think they will win, just the same as the vidor posters are saying about their team...truth is, both teams do some things well and both teams have weaknesses and neither is unbeatable...if they were, both would be going into this game undefeated and that ain't the case
  5. That's a pretty good analysis BigBlue...have you seen Nederland play? For the most part, the defense has "contained" power running at times...the main problems have in fact been with speedier teams getting to the corner on us and fast QBs taking busted plays and turning them into big gains. I hope your prediction is right...I think that vidor will have to play this game much like Central did by controlling the clock...this can be done, but Central did execute a very good game plan with very few mistakes to pull this off...vidor will have to avoid turnovers and penalties and make some big plays, much like Central did, to do this.
  6. Coop-insider, you did not throw out the Mongolian Stomper and Tiger Conway, Jr? Both classics!
  7. Goes to head to head record first tupac...they only use points if the records of the 3 teams are the same
  8. I was afraid of as much...if they did that, then they would have to had all of the other teams play their games missed as well and frankly, some of 'em probably don't want to play any more. Next year, NHS freshman vs. Lumberton freshman should be a hell of a game made even better by all the anticipation from missing this year (no body even mention another hurricane!)
  9. You are right about that NDN, tensions are higher when the team is losing...most people don't know how to handle adversity and this is how they react. Again, any fan who spends 80 hours a week preparing for a HS footbal game, my comments about criticising coaches do not apply to you...feel free to ramble all you want about how crazy your coaching staffs are
  10. I agree that folks in the stands need to do a better job of keeping their comments to themsleves...i would assume that no one goes to their jobs and yells at them telling them how to do it, but the coaches are grown ups and I imagine any coach worth his salt is bothered very little by comments from people who by and large don't know what the hell they are talking about anyway...coaches are with these kids everyday and study things that none of us are privvy to, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt...(if any of the fans spend 80 hours a week getting ready for the game, then you are free to comment as you wish)the problem there is that some of the morons making dumb comments are sitting near friends and/or relatives of some of these coaches and they really should exercise more tact. No as far as criticizing kids...that is just inexcusable...i think that most people forget that these are 15-18 year old boys, not men...any fan who calls out a kid during a game is just a complete loser IMO and has issues that probably require psychiatric attention and if you are sitting next to one of the parents (especially a mom) you may end up requiring medical attention as well.
  11. The way the district has gone this year, not much would surprise me other than LCM knocking someone off.
  12. this is gettin' funny so i have got to chime in...for the record, Central's offense was in fact the key to containing Nederland's offense... they doubled our time of possession and kept Nederland's offense off the field...as i said in my post after that game, Central executed their offense to perfection...vidor may be able to do the same, but they will have to do what Central did and that is avoid any turnovers, any penalties, and convert on just about every critical third and long...much easier said than done...if you want to compare just any old game, let's talk about how vidor performed in a loss to Ozen...if you couldn't keep Ozen from scoring enough to beat you, I promise you that Nederland's offense is much better than that (honestly I realize that this is not a fair comparision, but it makes just as much since as your argument). To oversstate the obvious, Nederland's defense has been the problem, particularly when it comes to containing speed...no way you should score 50 and lose, but that is exactly what happened last week...this match up is interesting because I see both teams have trouble stopping the other...the key will be who makes fewer mistakes (turnovers, penalties, big plays given up). I just find it funny that if you read these posts, you would think Vidor is 5-0 and unstoppable/unbeatable, which they are not...you guys are in the same boat we are in and only Friday night's result will seperate the two...both teams do some things well and both have struggled in some areas...should be interesting...I'll be a homer and go with the Dogs 31-28.
  13. Until someone else does it, you gotta go with Ozen.
  14. This is a big game for the Dogs...the outcome will have a dramatic effect on the rest of the year...win and you have to feel pretty good about your playoff chances; lose and your back will be against the wall...Livingston does appear to have some speed on defense in particular and that could be problematic for the Dogs...my biggest concern is handling another mobile QB...the Dogs adjusted pretty well to Centrals base run game, but allowed the QB too many big plays when he was flushed from the pocket...need to avoid that this week. That said, I will take the Dogs in a tight one...say 24-21.
  15. I understand and agree with your point, but trust me, COs B team is almost exclusively 7th graders...I am not as sure about this years team, but I do know that last year's B team starters were all 7th graders.
  16. Nederland does the same, spoonbill...the "B" team's are made up mostly of 7th graders.
  17. The QB was the key to the game and made several big plays...he took off running on more than one occassion after being pressured and gained crucial yardage to keep drives alive and keep the clock rolling when it seemed like Nederland had made the stop...hats truly off to Central for a bold new gameplan, installing a brand new offense this week...that's a big risk, but they exectuted to perfection and kept the ball out of Nederland's hands...hard to score without the ball...when the Dogs did have the ball, they committed 2 turnovers that eventually led to Jag scores, the one at the end of the first half being the most costly. The type of offense Central ran made execution and lack of mistakes a premium and to their credit, they pulled it off very well...very few penalties and they did not turn the ball over...again, a big risk by Central's coaching staff that paid dividends because their kids executed extremely well. Nederland will be fine...hats off to Central for a very well executed game plan.
  18. I've seen both groups and this doesn't surprise me one bit, penny...this districts 2 best teams are far and away CO Wilson and Lumberton...too bad they won't get to play this year.
  19. Lumberton A beat PN 40 to 6
  20. Lumberton beat Port Neches
  21. Yet a Nederland victory nonetheless...I will take a repeat of last year, will you?
  22. Yes, but they slipped up a bit and allowed 2 first downs this week...lol. That defense is awful tough...sure would have liked ot see this group play Lumberton this year, but it appears that Ike will be the winner of that one.
  23. No doubt that was a butt thumpin' of huge proportions...thanks for the memories soulja! I don't expect this year's game to get that far out of hand for either team...i think we will be looking at a fairly close one this year.
  24. Not to be a smart aleck, but that didn't seem to help much against Livingston...besides, as has been pointed out, you guys are at Vidor.
  25. If this year's race has proven anything, it is that just about anyone can beat anyone on any given night...this race will be something to watch and although Nederland looks good right now, their toughest work is ahead of them...i would love for Nederland-Lumberton to be for the district title in week 10, but both teams have plenty to keep them busy between now and then...for the Dogs, that starts with Central this week and I am sure they will have their hands full. That being said, I think Nederland has the chance to be very good this season...they really are just beginning to hit their stride on offense and I think they sky is the limit if they continue to improve and show the balance that they have exhibited for the last 3 weeks...this offense, when clicking, is very difficult to stop
