  1. Im just thinking that in this district, a win with a statement beats a tie, or a win in OT. I think Vidor had the momentum and should have went for it. BUT.... if they wouldn't have made the 2 point conversion, then everyone would be coming out of the woodwork saying they should have went for the tie. No question here...you kick the ball and play for overtime, especially at home and with momentum on your side...this is a no brainer IMO
  2. this kid is the real deal having a special game tonight...i was extremely impressed with both he and his brother (also with Oregon St.) when they beat Nederland in the playoffs 2 years ago...both of the Rodgers brothers are integral parts of the OSU offense...impressive.
  3. Sounds like the priorities are right...the dogs need to just get nastier much like they were in the late 90s and early 00s...this coaching staff will make the right adjustments and the dogs will be fine.
  4. Also try a bowl of vinegar.
  5. What is anyone haering about this one? I sure hope we don't have to load up the wagons again.
  6. Wow! I am simply at a loss for words. Thank you Mr. Coach Klein!
  7. I hope you are right, purple.
  8. i was not there, but i doubt very seriously that WOS was going to show everything in their playbook at a scrimmage...scrimmages are not the time to throw the kitchen sink at someone...WOS will be fine this year
  9. I was also under the understanding that this scrimmage was tonight although tomorrow may be better and give the field time to dry out...can anyone confirm which night it actually is?
  10. Maybe so...I can admit I didn't really read that first part and reacted to the headline...I'll head straight to confession and hopefully be absolved of my sins...lol
  11. They're scrimmages so who wins or loses is really irrelevant...you just hope the kids who have cemented positions on the first team look sharp and come out injury free. They will also be looking at "fringe" players at game speed to see if they can contribute during the season...winning is not the main goal of a scrimmage...nothing more than practice against someone other than yourself.
  12. You couldn't pour p!*$ out of a boot with the instructions on the heel!!
  13. Not that it matters, but this year's Lumberton 8th graders lost one game in STJFL back in '06, but it was to Nederland Black in the semifinals. Nederland Black went on to beat WOS in the Super Bowl that year. The Nederland Black vs. Lumberton White STJFL semifinal game in 2006 was one hell of a football game. That's why I see the matchup between CO Wilson and Lumberton as the one to watch for this coming season. Should be a great matchup escpecially since both went pretty much untested last season and ended up undefeated.
  14. some folks just can't be satisfied with an undefeated tournament and trip to the world series...bottom line, the team won and did what they had to do to get the job done...
  15. They did not play each other...CO's 7th grader who did play, played a 8th grade "B" schedule and Lumberton had a true 7th grade team...now, all of the starters on the CO 8th grade "B" were 7th graders and they did go undefeated with just about all of their games being blowouts...Lumberton has a talented 8th grade bunch this year so this should be a good one.
  16. nice little replacement for Posada...one of the best catchers of this generation...good filler, yanks!
  17. Congrats to the Nederland 14s...best of luck in Mass.
  18. Alot of the kids play football, so weekday games are out of the question.
  19. UNLV, I would have to respectfully disagree with that assessment...I don't think that if LU has a 50,000 seat stadium that 50,000 will attend the first home game...big stretch for an area with this population IMO...if that logic works, then we should build a stadium that holds over 1,000,000 people
  20. I am not a big fan of the rule either...so if kids are playing summer ball and doing things wrong, coaches cannot correct or instruct them, so they develop bad habits and their overall game suffers...seems like some compromise could be reached.
  21. Sounds like an outstanding young man...I wish him much success...good to see a local guy getting such high praise on the national level.
  22. Lordy 92, don't be so pessimistic! LOL...some of the folks I work with think that every tropical system that even gets to the Caribbean is going to directly hit SE Texas...let's all be aware and prepared, but not scared the entire season
