  1. ...and somehow, I suspect, Coach Gamble would have still put a winning team on the court.
  2. I agree that a loss to Ozen is not the death knell for anyone in the district. I suppose that just about everybody will los to them. On the other hand, a team that can somehow play a near perfect game and beat Ozen has a distinct advantage over the rest. It is very early, but it looks like the district race is Ozen's to lose, as usual. The 2 and 3 spots should be contested between Central, LCM, Nederland, and PNG, although I don't know much about Dayton this year.
  3. I have heard conflicting reports on exactly what happened, but if he did behave inappropriately, there is no place on a team for that. Who thinks Coach Gamble would have tolerated this behavior? You never heard of any of this when he was in charge at Lincoln. The guy ran a first rate program.
  4. I thought Qualls was a very good set up man, but the need at closer was MUCH greater. I hate to see Qualls go, but they did get a first rate closer. Now if they could just shore up that starting rotation behind Oswalt?
  5. 7th grade scores CO Wilson B 15 Port Neches B 8 CO Wilson A 52 Port Neches A 18
  6. Dogs win a good one by the count of 57-53. Nederland was down by as many as 9, but stayed in the battle and won it in the end. Good, good win for a program on the rise. Spring was not big, but they did have a couple of real strong shooters who nailed several threes. Nederland is getting a couple of early season injuries behind them and they continue to improve.
  7. I haven't seen much Lumberton bashing from Nederland. Most of our posters have pretty much tipped their caps to Lumberton and wished them well going forward. I will do the same here. They were the better team and clearly deserve to be in the playoffs. As for the Vidor fan who is gloating that our streak is over...well, the good news is that yours is still intact my friend. All good things must come to an end. Now it is time for the Dogs to start a new streak and I believe the talent coming down the pipe in the coming years will give us an opportunity to do just that. Best of luck to all of the local teams advancing. Bring some hardware back to SE Texas.
  8. Hats off to Dayton...that was one of the smoothest performances I have seen in quite some time; absolutely dominant at just about every position; Dogs can either go into next week as a team backed into a corner or fold up the tent; i have a feeling about how they will respond, but we will see
  9. CO Wilson's teams remained undefeated by virtue of their wins over Lumberton yesterday. The B team won 38-0 and the A team won 43-12. Both teams look to wrap up undefeated seasons next week as they play cross town Bulldogs, Central MS.
  10. I couldn't pass that hypocrisy up.
  11. Weren't you guys calling for the head of your OC earlier in the year after 2 scoreless games? Things change fast! Personally, I think PNG's staff does a more than adequate job with the talent they have as does Nederland's.
  12. CO Wilson B 40 (5-0-1) Groves B 0 CO Wilson A 24 (6-0) Groves A 6 (4-1) Neither CO Wilson A or Groves A have lost since last year, so this was a big matchup. CO prevailed to remain undefeated, as did the CO B team which starts mostly 7th graders.
  13. I would definitely like to see the Nederland/WOS series renewed. These games produced soem of the most memorable moments around.
  14. Make up your mind, akifan...why do you list PNG in your prediction as both the winner and loser?
  15. They have a big one next week against CO Wilson, who is also undefeated at 5-0 after beating Little Cypress last night. Not sure of the final in that one, but it wasn't close. CO Wilson's B team also remained undefeated with a 26-14 win over LC.
  16. I don't think Nederland underestimates PNG's D, but penny is right...bringing 8 plays right into our hands...PNG may have a good D, but the key will be can PNG cover all 4 of Nederland's wideouts...central brought the heat last week and it didn't work out so well for them; as for dj, if you recall, he played an outstanding game against you guys last year and is playing very well this year; you guys may want to give Grogan some thought as well. The entire week of MC Madness is almost too much fun; this is by far one of the best rivalries around.
  17. If you count all victories, then quit trashing evrybody elses schedule. In all honesty, I think that Se Texas has limited chances to have a state champ this year. It seems that our talent level has waned over the years. In 5a, WB seems to be the frontrunner, 4A, Nederland, 3A, WOS, 2A Newton. It is still VERY early and much football is left to be played, but that is how it looks right now. BTW, titan, did I almost hear you giving Nederland props? You really are scaring the hell out of me if you did.
  18. In light of what the bullpups (Nederland Wilson Jr. High) actually did to PN last week, you may want to stay away from the "bullpup" reference.
  19. Probably in your best interest to take it one week at a time. It seems to me you guys have 4 other teams you should be worrying about before you worry about Nederland.
  20. Should be an epic battle...Dogs 24, PNG 13. The scary part is to look at how many underclassmen Nederland is playing. The future is bright in Nederland.
  21. Great win for the Dogs, to say the least. I guess the second guessing is human nature, and for what it's worth I would have rather seen us run at least once on the late 3 and out. However, let's look at that in retrospect. On first down, Nederland rolled Bellow out and was looking for a big play IMO. Central got good pressure on him forcing him to throw the ball away, but Broussard was wide open down the left seam and had Kirby not been under so much pressure and got him the ball, the game would have been over and everyone would be talking about how much they loved the aggressive play call. Just imagine what Lumberton posters would have been saying last week if Credeur's aggressive call of going for 2 had backfired and they lost. Bottom line is I don't care how it happened, but Nederland just beat a very talented football team on the road, by 2 scores, on their homecoming night no less to get to 2-0 in distict. Central is not going to lose many more games, I'm telling you, unless they let down emotionally. They flat have some serious speed. Nederland's offensive line is steadily improving and Kirby is really coming into this own. He has a very talented stable of receivers and our run game looks improved since our line is getting a better push. Bass hits holes quickly. Next week is a big one against arch rival PNG, who is also undefeated in district. In summary, job well done, Dogs and I have to admire Central's fight. They did not pack it in.
  22. CO Wilson B 36 (3-0-1) Port Neches B 0 (0-1-2) CO Wilson A 56 (4-0) Port Neches A 6 (1-2)
  23. 8TH Grade B: CO Wilson 36 Port Neches 0 8th grade A: CO Wilson 56 Port Neches 6
  24. I would expect nothing else from you, titan.
