You really can’t say the officiating was one sided towards nederland...the last flag was extremely late and thrown by the back judge who was 20 yards away when 2 officials on that side threw nothing...as with most games, many factors led to the outcome, most not to do with officials, but I can’t sit here and listen to png gripe about calls . Another game changing example was the late hit on our QB that causes him to miss nearly 2 full quarters...that’s impactful. entertaining game...congrats to png on the outcome

That's what a team who is afraid of losing usually brings up
-
not with the offense vidor runs...pre-season is about getting ready for district and the rest of the season; not too many teams run the offense that vidor does, so playing them doesn't help prep a ton

Port Arthur Memorial 56 Nederland 39/FINAL
Razor replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
look, the kid is a special basketball talent and anyone who says otherwise just doesn't understand the game...I think he is asked to do too much on this Nederland team, but I think that is out of necessity to a large degree...consistently, teams double team him and rotate fresh defenders on to him in an effort to keep him somewhat in check...if he isn't any good, then why are they doing this??? The Dogs lack enough other playmakers to offset this and the really good teams can focus an inordinate amount of resource/defense on Hefner. I think the "athlete" question is pretty moot...best athlete does not translate to best basketball player...Russel Westbrook may be the best athlete in the NBA, but while is a very good player, no one would argue that he is the best player in the league...Hef has a high basketball IQ, passes the ball and sees the floor extremely well, has a pretty good shot (which will only improve), and can jump out of the gym...his future is bright! anybody trashing him on here really needs to look at the big picture and frankly, get a life...he is clearly one of the best in the area -
Good thing that your scenario hardly ever happens, AAW...it been a while since NEITHER team was in playoff position NC and Porter will be a great game, no doubt, but it wont sniff they intensity and excitement of MCM
-
Cmon, Jake...how could poor old nederland with their crappy field and all best high and mighty png? I figure it’s gonna be about 87-2 for png seriously, I am looking for a competitive game...dogs 36, png 34
-
negative aki...the long row to nowhere is a problem at png...at least you can leave to go to the bathroom without walking over 60 people on Nederland's visitor side. And I agree about the back and forth banter...it's what makes this so much fun! continue please...I just love that png is already thinking about something other than the Dogs before the game starts
-
png9mom is testy this week! put a hand in the mud, line up, smack somebody and may the best team win! go dogs!
-
Exactly...last time I checked, both teams have to play on it...if it hurts your feelings to play on grass, stay home...I love the fact that its even an issue or thought for png
-
Might be the first time in a while that vidor will actually be the favorite in this game
-
lol chorizo...forgot to mention that he benches 600 pounds too...lol
-
Dogs will be solid this year but have some big holes to fill on the OL...may struggle early until these guys figure out the blocking schemes and protections but the talent is there...skill position guys will be very good...Scott and Maczyk will be one of the best 1-2 punches in the backfield around...don't sleep on the Fuselier kid either...he is a talent and Nederland will find a way to get him the ball, whether as a receiver (think he will primarily play the slot) or running the ball some; think of how Nederland used Yoder, Butler, and Shaw back in the days, just finding ways to get the ball in his hands and let Fuselier go to work; he can scoot! Look for Nederland to move him around the formations quite a bit and just get the ball in his hands
-
Soulja repellant...lol...we cant have him coming to this "secret" spring game, no matter how bad he wants to...I am sure he cares less about that now that United isn't in the same district as Nederland
-
Using Reagan's rationale, you would never buy anything that you had to pay over any length of time...is it expensive?? yes...is it going to get any less expensive? No...you can only put lipstick on a pig for so long and IMO, continuing to spend maintenance budget money on old, outdated facilities is a waste of money as well...NISD's maintenance budget has been rather substantial in years past...again, its a difference in philosophy
-
...and I could say the same to you...again, we disagree I just happen to strongly disagree with using such tactics to sway others to their opinion
-
Not sure why you would want to post something like this from a non source verifying site and treat it as the absolute truth, but hey, to each his or her own....hopefully people are smart enough to decipher news from an angry rant
-
Well, I think grad just about covered it there...lol
-
Anybody can post anything they want on the web...doesn't make it true...the good news is that we are finally getting to the point where people realize that
-
Are you saying that you should wait until education is bad to make changes?? If you wait until it’s completely broken, it’s too late...in some instances, it may be getting pretty close
-
I absolutely am equating Nederland’s facilities to those of the dark ages...I appreciate you telling me what I believe, but in this case you are incorrect...leave the area and look around...what we have is substandard and I won’t apologize for wanting better...you have your opinion and I have mine...they happen to differ dramatically in this case

Folks used to ride horses to get where they went and that worked just fine for the time they were in…some genius invented a car and suddenly things got better and more opportunities presented themselves..what if someone had said "we don't need these expensive automobiles! horses work just fine"
-
too bad there isn't a "love" or "like a whole lot" button for grads last comment
-
Could have replaced 4 elementary schools and re-done the high school 9 years ago for $30 million less...continuing to wait only increases the price tag...I suppose the idea is to wait until the buildings are ready to fall down before they are replaced Again, I despise spending money, especially this much, but at some point, you have to realize that what you have is not what you need to carry you forward effectively...at what point did someone decide to replace all of the outhouses with indoor plumbing? I'm sure that cost money and outhouses worked pretty well up until that point...somebody found a more effective way to do things
-
But at least their band and drill team will be able to perform at halftime when it's wet (vidor's that is)

People don't realize what a ridiculous set of circumstances has to occur on the Friday of a home football game; my disclaimer here is that I assume this is still the same as it was in years past; my comments here are based on a conversation I had with Coach Neumann before he retired, but I assume the same still has to happen now. On the Friday of a home game, NISD staff has to completely clear out the dressing room at the stadium that is used on a day to day basis by the Central MS kids; the dressing room is cleared to make room for the varsity football players and their equipment; at the same time, the football equipment/uniforms are loaded up from the high school and transported to the now vacant MS dressing room; when the game is over, keep in mind late at night, this process is reversed so that the middle school kids are ready to go for Monday and the HS football players have their equipment back at the HS on Monday as well; it's a fiasco for every Friday home game because the HS football team does not have a dedicated dressing room/field house at their HOME stadium; but hey, who really needs that luxury of having their own dressing room??
