According to NISD statement to the media yesterday the statewide search process was started. School board prez. played at North Texas football for Todd Dodge so there is that quality connection to help get the applications flowing.

No increase in injuries, all bounces are true & no weird or bad hops taken to the face. Same with softball, much better surface to play on then dirt pits.

I have coached at the Babe Ruth Park the last 4 years & every one loves it. Number of kids playing in Babe Ruth has increased a great deal since the turf was put down also.

Turf is the way to go, plays great, safer, hardly no up keep, will get more revenue with tournament organizers wanting to use your field.

Was there last weekend, Senior Babe Ruth & Coach Green do a great job with the limited resources & funds they have to work with keeping the field nice, but it is far from being a quality save field to play on compared to most 5A programs.

Barrow resigned his position as AD\Head Football coach at Nederland.

Facts

State wide search has begun for new AD\Head Football Coach. All coaching positions will be open for the new AD to fill. if you are a certified teacher in anything but PE you probably have a teaching job if not picked to coach by the new AD. Nederland current staff has like 7 football coaches that do PE only.

OFFICIAL NISD STATEMENT Nederland ISD Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Monte Barrow has announced his RESIGNATION from Nederland ISD. NISD would like to thank Coach Barrow for his many years of service to the district and wishes him success in his future endeavors. In addition NISD would like to thank Coach Barrow for his commitment to all NISD Athletics. Current Defensive Coordinator Chris Theriot will serve as interim Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. Nederland ISD will immediately begin a statewide search for the next Athletic Director and Head Football Coach.

With the immediate head coaching success Jeff Joseph has had at PNG, the in house hire at Nederland is out the window. Even NISD Super. & school board can't be that dumb & not follow a similar process PNG isd did.

Come on man you know NISD has to save that money to pay the Superintendents salary & perks.

Has NISD or Barrow released anything official yet on retirement, resigned or re-assigned? Until then the 7 year time clock can not be prepared to be activated for the new coach
