  1. The PNG DC & OC should be at the top of the OF call list for AD\head coach position, imo.

  6. Once again 75% of the taxpayers are part of the brotherhood in some way or form, so most of the pressure will not change anything. Get it down to 50% then there is a chance for some type of change. I believe Barrow earned his shot as head coach at Nederland, he checked all the boxes as a position coach, OC, leader the players looked up to & trusted. After 7 years of running the show a few cracks & dings have shown up in his armor with some good years & some bad. It's all not on him & the coaches a few factors have helped the down turn, but he is the top football dog in charge so he will get all the blame just like most head coaches do. Down turns happen to all high school sports programs, but the key is after back to back losing seasons can the current coaching staff at least bring the program back to the 11-3, 10-2, 9-4 days with 2nd to 4th round playoff runs every 2 to 4 years. If they can do that then they probably will have jobs coaching until they retire from NISD. If they get to a state championship game NISD will build golden statues of the coaching staff at the entrance to the stadium.😁 On a side note I am told Central Jr. High 8th Grade group just finished their 2nd undefeated season, dominating every team they played. So this might be the group mixed with some other grade levels that put Barrow back at the top of the district standings within the next 2 or 3 years.

  12. Seen them all play many times. Ambres was very, very good HS QB. I would take Mr. Brown as my QB1 at the high school level out of the 2, tho.
  13. James Brown was a special talent. The other guys mentioned were solid also, but Brown had some magic play making abilities throwing & running the ball.

  20. I believe Mike Pierce former long time WOS asst. football coach was QB on that '84 Vidor team, before moving on to become an All American defensive back at McNeese. That '84 Bmt. French team had some solid players & coaches on that state title run where they were double digit underdogs in every playoff game. Steve Shaver-HC, Mark Gilbeaux at QB, Paul Jones at RB, Melvin Turner at TE\DE, Jeff Turner at FB\LB, Willie Williams, Cedric Jones & Keith Wycoff were a tough 3 man WR group to cover. Those were some good times for Bmt. high school Football.

  22. Nederland players as a group were more exp. & skilled last year then this years team & stepped up big that game. Caught BH dealing with some injuries missing a few players & made mistakes they usually don't make. Probably over looking Nederland that game & at the playoffs. BH coach made some different moves & it didn't pan out that game. But that was last year & this post is about this year. 9/29/23 Game Results Barbers Hill- 25 25 25 Nederland- 16 12 11
