1. It has been a good run BH, but it's over now.  Can you say FRIENDSWOOD?
2. I know that brenham man hates to give Friendswood credit, but the Friendswood girls have been and are the cream of the crop - by far - in Region 3.  Notwithstanding their coaching issues, they have never not made it to the final four, have been Regional Champs far more than any other team, and have the only state champs of any Region 3 team (at least in 4A). And I would not count out the usually underperforming Friendswood boys this year.
3. I do think that transfers must be allowed.  But, recruiting remains taboo.   Also, and FYI, Friendswood is the only 4A or 5A district in the Greater Houston area to be rated "Exemplary" (every school in the district was rated "Exemplary")!   ;)
4. I cannot remember who it was that said CG was a GREAT athlete but not a great college QB and that he would never be the starting QB for Nebraska....oh yeah, it was me.
5. Thanks.  We are very familiar with Midway's waves.  For the record, Friendswood is about 5-1 against Midway.  The first and only loss was last year.
6. In the second half they did.
7. Well folks, Midway (5-0 over Foster) and Friendswood (3-1 over Huntsville) will, in fact, square off in tomorrow's Championship Final.  Both teams looked very good today -- this is by far the closest they have been talent wise in the last several years (including last year's stunning upset by Midway).  I still give Friendswood an edge in talent, but Midway's wave attack keeps the legs fresher -- which could be a factor on a hot day.  Anyway, I look for a close game tomorrow with victory decided by which team makes and does not make a mistake.  My prediction is Friendswood - 3 Midway - 2
8. Well said Sharkie!  It's been fun.  Go Hilltoppers!!  ;)
9. Ouch!  I was afraid that would happen.  Great season PNG!
10. I am, but he was questioning wasone03, not me.  But, thanks for helping . . . I guess.  :o
11.
He pulls for Friendswood programs.  Thus the name Friendswoood fan and yes they are still in the playoffs. so....
I am not wasone03 if that is what you are suggesting.
12. So soccer7 makes pronouncements like that, but not sharkie?  ;D  And, to be clear, Dawson was missing 4 or 5 of their key players during the early pre-season tournaments.  :D Anyway, good luck on Tuesday and remind your girls not to overcommit and to keep their formation against Midway.
13. Sharkie (or should I say soccer7), why would you use the pre-season rankings?  Hmmmm.  Oh yeah, that's the only one that lists PNG.   ;D   For the record, FHS is the number 1 team in the Region in the last poll and maybe the last two!  And, concerning one of your "other" posts (on another site), I do appreciate the homerism, but PNG is not better than, or as good as, Stratford or Santa Fe (or Texas City or Dawson for that matter).  But good luck vs. Midway, the best team PNG will face this year -- unless, of course, they get to play FHS.
14. Well, I don't really have a dog in this fight, and I don't really expect to see either team playing FHS in the Regional Finals.  Having said that, I expect a close game and I am both expecting and hoping for a PNG win (mostly because I like Sharkie).  In terms of the game, my sense is that PNG has a slight edge in talent but Brenham is more consistent.  One big question will be which team can handle adversity better.  My concern for PNG is that they seem to think of themselves this year as a team of destiny; which is fine but those types of teams (especially girls' teams) sometimes have trouble righting the ship when things suddenly go wrong (believe me, I've seen it happen a few more times than I care to remember at the State Tournament -- usually (no, always) against the Region II Champion).  Anyway, my prediction is PNG 3 Brenaham 2
15. My goodness, where do I begin?   Dual, it really is time to quit clinging to that miracle win by the Brenham girls over Friendswood in a shootout in the regional semifinals ten years ago.  It was a great win for the Brenham girls (their only win ever over a Friendswood team in about 10 games or more over the years), but it was a fluke and it no more made them one of the top teams than does VCU's miracle run to the Final Four truly make them one of the top teams in college basketball.  The Brenham girls are, and have always been, a second (or sometimes third) tier team in the region.  Their earned reputation (especially over the last 4-5 years) is that they have a nice season, win a couple of playoff games, and get sent packing when they play a really good team.  Again, I am sorry, but those are the facts.   By contrast, the FHS girls have never failed to make at least the Regional Semifinals, and have WON 1/2 of the Region III Championships ever contested in 4A soccer.  Midway, likewise, makes far deeper playoff runs than Brenham in those years when they are in Region III.  And, for the record RDS, as I've previously said on this website, I think that the Friendswood and Midway girls are pretty evenly matched this year; which means that neither is a distant second to the other.  However, with the possible exception of Stratford (and the Kelly girls team  ;)), I think that all the other girls teams in the region are a distant third and beyond to FHS and Midway.     Now, the FHS boys -- well that's a different story.  Generally great seasons, including victories over solid non-district opponents, marred by terrible playoff (under)performances.  One might say that they tend to choke.  Until they prove that they can do it in the playoffs, I don't generally consider them to be one of the top teams in the Region -- although, in fairnness, since there is no single, dominant program in Region III-4A soccer on the boys side (quit crying Dual, it's true), the Friendswood boys have a better chance year in and year out to break through than, say, the Brenham girls.
