  1. Every year I look forward to, and ENJOY, the Friendswood vs. Dayton game. And, Dayton fans, I cannot tell you how relieved I am to know that OldTimer is pulling for Dayton!
  2. And, as always, Dayton will still lose to Friendswood. ;D
  3. Toughest district in the state? Who are you guys kidding. Any district that includes Angleton, Friendswood, LaMarque and Texas City beats whatever permutation you want to throw together.
  4. Sorry BulletHead, but I cannot let that cheap shot (which, frankly, is typical fror you) go without a reply. Am I a proud Friendswood fan? Yes! Do I (and other Friendswood fans) have a lot to be proud about? Absolutely! Do I always offer congratulations and praise when (on those rare occasions) Friendswood is defeated? Yes, always! Do you do the same when Friendswood wins, and you lame predictions are proven wrong? NEVER!
  5. Sorry guys, I went out of town on a work project the day of game 2 of the Nederland sweep of Friendswood, and I could not log in remotely. I saw game 1 in person, and I heard that game 2 was much the same. You guys have great hitting and pitching. My congratulations to the Bulldogs, and my best wishes for Nederalnd the rest of the year! Okay, now start slinging those arrows my way!! ;D
  6. You guys are in dream land. Both of your "aces" are about to get hung with a big "L"! You're playing Friendswood, not some GT team.
  7. The Dallas area teams all have Division 1 players throughout their rosters.
  8. Tinker (or should I say LP), First, read the post. What I said was that it was a great end for what was supposed to be a somewhat down year. It was supposed to be a somewhat down year because they graduated 6 starters, and about 2/3 of the 2008 varsity team that had gone to state the previous 3 years, and it wasn't clear how they would fill those holes. However, a somewhat down year for FHS does not necessarily mean that they were being counted out for a regional title -- only that it wasn't going to be 7-0 romp in the regional final like the prior year. This year's group took their lumps early, but the key seniors hung tough, and avoided injuries. And, some freshmen who were forced to play a bit earlier than normal (at least at FHS) stepped in and played great as starters. Also, the keeper just kept getting better and better. This year's players deserve all the credit in the world! Second, although FHS is blessed with loads of talent every year (20 plus Division 1 players every year), they truly have no coach. LP never played the game, and knows almost nothing about the game, and her interactions with her players are berst characterized as difficult and rife with apparent miscommunications (that's as polite as I can put it). She routinely plays girls off against one another and is known to favor players whose parents babysit and cook dinners for her. Daily practices consist of the same 3 or 4 drills followed by scrimmages. There is virtually no work on set pieces, re-starts, situational play, etc. They play a basic 4-4-2 come heck or high water, regardless of the situation, and she gets outcoached at every state tournament. I could go on, but you get the drift.
  9. Pearce was the better team today. And, they made adjustments before and during the game that made it difficult for the girls to generate much offense. FHS had its chances, but could not find the net. All in all, it was a great end for what was supposed to be a somewhat down year, and after a very rocky start. But, it is days like today that make the faithful wonder if only we had a real coach to go with all the talent.....BB where are you?
  10. FYI, today's result was: Friendswood 3 WF Rider 2 And, yes, AH is the best girls soccer player in all of 4A. And, no she is not my DD.
  11. I like your attitude. Work hard this year, and go get em next year.
  12. Well, they are the Peters. You know what I mean...
  13. That would be fun. Include Kelly in the mix, and maybe BB can persuade her old boss to bring the Lady Mustangs to SETX for some games next year.
  14. Thanks Newbie and Weasel! FYI, FHS defeated Waco Midway by a 2-0 score to claim their 4th straight Regional Championship and 7th overall! See you next year SETX!!!!
  15. Today's regional semifinal results: Midway 1 Brenham 0 Friendswood 6 Santa Fe 0 Time to get on the bandwagon SETX! It's fun to back a winner -- especially when it's FHS!!! ;D
  16. OldTimer, FYI, Waco Midway's coach has for many years employed the tactic of making mass substitutions frequently throughout the game. We saw it first hand in the 2006 Region III Championship game when the faster and more talented Lady Mustangs defeated Midway to advance to the State Tournament. Although the FHS bench is always stocked with talented D1 players, the FHS coach typically does not make many substitutions during playoff games. The starters play. I do expect FHS and Midway to advance to the championship game, and I expect a close fought game in the Final. FYI, FHS is 6-0 in Regional Championship games. Food for thought.
  17. Friday at 2:30 at Humble. And, Rebel, we're playing Santa Fe, not Midway. So, for you, its go Indians. I redict that Midway defeats Brenham, and that Friendswood defeats Midway on Saturday.
  18. I understood that's how you meant it. I -- and virtually everyone else ever involved in the program -- just wouldn't ever describe it that way. BB is probably one of the few exceptions, and that's only because she is sooooo nice!
  19. My face will be there -- as always. And, "fine" is not an adjective that I would use to describe the "lady."
  20. Wow, EC, that hurts my feelings. I am hoping for more enlightened people.
  21. Friendswood stomped Foster 6-1 tonight. ;D Now that it's down to the Regional Final 4, and your local teams are done, it's time for SETX to adopt the Lady Mustangs. So, everyone don something royal blue, bring a sign that says FriendswoodFan told me to be here, and show up in Humble on Friday to cheer the Lady Musytangs on to victory! As an added bonus, I'll be signing autographs at halftime! ;D
  22. Congrats Lumberton. A great run! Hey, FHS is "Southeast" of Houston, and we have plenty of room on the bandwagon.
  23. What makes you think I mind getting grief from you folks? I just call em like I see em!
  24. I disagree that you are messing up. But, it is true that college coaches watch club, not school, soccer, and talk to club trainers, not school coaches. There are rare exceptions, but I do mean rare. FHS goes to the top HS tournaments, and there are rarely any college coaches/scouts. FHS players go to tournaments with their club teams, and college coaches/scouts are all over the place.
