Stephenville used to have some of the best noise makers I have ever seen. They would take propane bottles (like for a gas grill) and put steel ball bearings in them and shake them the whole game. When the other team was on offense they would really shake them. Some of the PNG folks might remember them.

Woodville vs. Big Sandy/Woodville Wins
rmac replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I'm not sure about missing anyone, but they only had 8 players suited up. Woodville rotated players freely the whole game and wore Big Sandy down. -

Isn't it interesting that the best high school football states, Texas, California, Florida, and Ohio go by NCAA rules and don't have any mercy rules. I am glad Texas plays by NCAA rules. I think it prepares those going to college better than other states.

NEWTON VS BUNA part II
rmac replied to SETXsports Broadcaster's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I have not seen Buna play, so don't know what kind of speed they have, but I can't imagine wanting to play Newton on turf. Field turf really speeds up the game, especially for those who have never been on it before. -
I have seen CC play a couple of times. They are a fairly big team and have some serious speed in the backfield. They run a wing-T formation with some unbalance line. They have a couple of linebackers who are very aggressive and will hit you. I have not seen EC play so don't know how they match up.

Enrollment Numbers-- What did your school turn in???
rmac replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think a lot of towns are growing in population, but they are mostly the over 55 age group. An example is Brownwood has 25,000 people but only 901 in the high school. Over half their population is over 55. They same thing is happening here in Woodville. -
I am not sure what you call weaker. Woodville, Newton, S. A., Corrigan, and Hemphill all played mostly 3A teams in non district and held their own for the most part. I think they will do okay in the playoffs.

Enrollment Numbers-- What did your school turn in???

If you look back through the last few realignments the minimum number has gone up 25 to 50 in each classification. That might give you an idea where your team will fall. -
*Corrigan-Camden 41 Woodville 14 Final/Comments*
rmac replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
C.C. 41 Woodville 14. Corrigan ran the opening kickoff back for TD. Then scored the second time they touched the ball on offense and it was down hill from there. Woodville never could get it together tonight and Corrigan wanted it more. -
School Mergers....Who Would You Like To See Merge?
rmac replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
This is not about any specific isd, but it would not surpise me if the state legislature forces this in a lot of areas including south east Texas. It is all about spending money for education and nothing about athletics. -
I think they can win at least 1 and possibly 2 of the last 3.

In answer if the same applies in college. Yes it does. Texas, Ohio, California, and Florida high schools play by ncaa rules. Most other states play by high school rules set by a national high school assocation.
