  1. whew, close one, thanks Coop.
  2. Someone give us some PNG v Central love!
  3. 2000 - Enron Field officially opens with a 6-5 exhibition win over the A.L. Champion New York Yankees, paralleling the feat that occured when the Astrodome opened in 1965. Daryle Ward's two-run homer caps a four-run eighth-inning rally to open up the Astros' new home in style. Jeff Bagwell earns the first hit in the new digs with a single off Roger Clemens.
  4. My prayers go out to the families as they continue the struggle of dealing with such a tragic loss.
  5. Absolutely the epitome of a professional baseball player. Capping that career with several deserved career records and a farewell round of NL ballparks is certainly a reward he has earned. I wish him the best. He has brought countless hours of entertainment to us all. It will be sad to see him go...
  6. I've got the same opening day tickets I had last year. Right behind home plate, in a leather recliner, with fresh roasted peanuts, cold beer, and a pause button when I gotta go! OH, and I don't have to drive home afterwards....
  7. 2002 - Lance Berkman drills two home runs and Roy Oswalt scatters seven hits as Houston tops the Boston Red Sox, 5-1, in an exhibition at the newly-renamed Astros Field. Scrubbed are virtually all signs of Enron, whose naming-rights deal for the ballpark fell into bankruptcy court. The win is also a little sweeter for manager Jimy Williams who was fired by the Sox midway through the 2001 season.
  8. "and hurt his leg or got cleated or something dont know if he is out for a day or so but it looked like he was ok" ??? Now there is an official injury report if I've ever seen one...
  9. "Hunter clears his conscience — After interviewing a 25-year-old resident for an hour, a Newton County game warden listened as a young man confessed to illegally harvesting two deer. He then also admitted to killing a 7-point buck on another property in November, which he tagged as a mule deer. Apparently on a roll, the suspect continued to confess, admitting to possessing both Louisiana and Texas resident hunting licenses and to taking roosting wood ducks the week before without a state or federal duck stamp. Numerous charges are pending." Sometimes, you gotta slap 'em to shut 'em up!
  10. Subject line makes ya think football was back at LU........
  11. I am going to have to go with the Bulldogs on this one. Dayton needs another loss (so says PNG) and Big Ned needs to battle their way back in to the playoff race.
  12. 1961 - Glenn Davis is born in Jacksonville, FL. As a troubled youth, he is taken in by the parents of major league pitcher George "Storm" Davis. Glenn would become Houston's best slugger since Jim Wynn, smashing 166 homers over seven seasons (1984-1990) while driving in 518 runs.
  13. Congrats to both teams, you know the pressure was on them tonight. Go Indians!
  14. Gonna be a wild finish it looks like, keep 'em comin' piratefan. Oh, and GO INDIANS!!!
