1. You guy's are killing me....Someone try to do something positive and some of blue try to turn it into a negative.....just like your smite count.... ;)
 2. with HJ's open enrollment almost approved their #'s will start picking up....
 3. This is true...
 4. Yall are pretty hard on him, geez no one is perfect yes he likes to drink, so what, he can coach lights out....Not all of you were at Kentucky and see what he was putting up with.. Now I'm sure all you fine Christian young men would ever drink. I loved it when he was at A&M he was easy to talk to, and he hardly ever met a stranger. He also cares a lot about his kids that play for him..
 5. Are you sure u spelled your name right, I think it should be smitey......lol
 6.
Jettyman, tell your son its not worth his time. Move him to Silsbee or WOS where he can at least have a shot at the playoffs or a winning season. That's great you have all of your teeth. Are they the original pair you were born with or a newly purchased set of dentures? Are you gumming down ice cream or chewing a nice juicy steak from The Cattle Co.  Do your family a favor and pull your kid out of the HJ football program. It will only him in the long run. Options: Gear up on Friday nights and prepare to lose 68-0? Move to Silsbee, gear up to play a game where it could go either way. Play a game or 3 in the playoffs. Play 10 games finish 1-9 and get ready for college. You tell me?
Well if I'm not mistaken Silsbee just barely beat HJ in FOOTBALL this last year so you still do not know what you are talking about....
 7.
So, again, does that fine fancy stadium allow PN-G to play better football than Ned does in their stadium?? Plus your saying it's NOT about the teachers?  Interesting...

AGAIN -- the building does not make the student.  It's ALL about good teachers.
smitty, I hope you live in an old house with window units and drive a car from the 70's.  If it's good enough for the children of Nederland, then it should be good enough for you.

So if I play with a wooden bat, I have the same opportunity to hit a home run or hit for the same average as if I used a composite $400 bat?  I'll use your analogy... you have the same outstanding hitting coach with both bats... is their a difference?  Take it further, as a parent, would you suck it up to try and find the money to pay for the best equipment to give your son or daughter a chance to compete to the best of their ability?  Smitty, come on buddy... you can't say that with a straight face.

I don't think that was the point he was trying to make. Sometimes it is very hard to get top notch teachers at a 40 year old school, unless they have some history there. I think he was just saying that the conditions that you learn in can have a bigger effect in the long run. I love our new school at HJ, it is so much better than the old school. The kids have a lot more opportunity to learn with a new technological school than the old one, teachers seem to love the new school because they are set up where they can be much more productive than the old ones. Most do not realize how much it takes to upkeep a school. Even just paying the light bill can be a chore. A new school is much more energy efficient than a old school.
 8. HJ does not have someone in WWF either, but that doesn't mean much. HJ has sensual vanilla (LAZEEK) the counter part to sexual chocolate.... :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
 9.
Smitty No...but money doesn't make the world go 'round either, but it sure makes the ride worth riding. Support your schools and provide your community with the best!
Now I like that, I would never say rubber stamp anything, but get involved, get educated, find out how it works and ALL of the issues they face before you start downing a project. A good place to start is the people who deal with ALL of the issues everyday. Go to the administration office or make an appointment, They deal with it everyday and I promise they know a lot more about it than someone who heard something from a buddy.
 10. I agree with not throwing new money into an old school, you always seem to get more value in building a new building. Right now it is a hard time because of the economy, but you have to look at it like investing in your community, if you wait to long to do anything, it will cost you a lot more to build later. Like a snowball rolling down hill. Do you do a little every 5 years or a huge one every 40.....
 11. First thing I would do is go to a few school board meetings, watch the agendas see what they are thinking, they are open to the public, just remember if you wish to ask about future plans you have to be on the agenda in most cases, which means you will need to get put on the agenda well ahead of time probably a week or two in advance. Most school boards will gladly share information with you. Get involved and go to the meetings. You will get to see a lot of the issues that the school board is dealing with.
 12. I was mainly speaking about taxes in general not just school tax, but I didn't know that there was a cap on school taxes...what makes me mad is when people start to complain about how much their taxes are but they have no clue what their tax rate is...
 13.

Also, I may be wrong but I think the money to pay teachers cannot come out of a bond, that money comes from another entity. May want to do some research on that also. I dont think any money spent on extra curricular activities for school kids is ever a waste of money. How much will a $25,000,000 bond make your taxes go up? I'm guessing $10 per year?
$10 per year if you live in a cardboard box maybe.
It depends on the taxable value that the tax assessor appraises the whole district for, if you live in a larger home it will appraise for more, a smaller house you will appraise for less usually. Tax rates are determined on the amount of debt accrued by that particular entity and the length of the bond. Usually in a town that grows (that would mean your ISD taxable value grow) you can do a little each year and keep the tax RATE the same, a stagnant growth it will stay about the same as long as no more debt is accumulated (like a bond for a new school) however, a growth rate that declines has an adverse effect your tax rate can continue to go up with no new debt and it can be a domino affect. In this scenario usually tax appraisals go down but you never see it because the rates have to be adjusted to make up for it to pay the "house note" as I like to call it. Man I feel like Will Farrell off of old school when he won the debate against James Carville....what just happened....lol
 14. OK now somebody wake me up in time for the first scrimmage of next season.... ;D
 15.

Ozen will win district next year . They have Green , williams , richards , and jones all coming back .
Are you sure about Green? Heard some rumblings at the state tourney about him leaving, with the biggest of the rumbles coming from his dad. ;)
well thats it he's probably moving to Silsbee.
 16. Nash I'm working on your karma.....you will be in the positive before long......
 17. I just love it when we can educate the masses ;) There are many times that people get on here and say things that they heard and I can promise you, that most of the time it is just a rumor.
 18. Were the plans for the bond not clear or available to the public. The only reason why I ask, is usually this local form of government is the only that you can have much control over...I HATE taxes as much as anyone, but you have a lot more say when it is local government. Just curious, did you ever attend any school board meetings?
 19. Big government spender's....... ???
 20. I do not believe that it is all a local problem...
 21. Burkburnett with the 9 point victory...
