Schools drop in state funding
PoppaBearstarr replied to PoppaBearstarr's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
You could also say that almost every school district around here provides a quality education for about $7.50 an hour per student per year....that is what a lot of people do not understand. Top heavy, maybe. There are not many situations where you have someone sitting at a desk with nothing to do. They split up duties so each can focus more on the task at hand. I promise you it is not what you think. I do not work for ANY of the schools either, I have researched this for a while though. -
Dunigan Delivers Energy Emotion To Evadale Boys
PoppaBearstarr replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Isn't Dunigan the kid that played for East Chambers last year (2009-2010)? If so, I seem to recall him playing in the HJ Last Man Standing Tournament and he suffered something like a broken nose. The guy played through the pain, however, and almost helped the Bucs win the Consolation Trophy. They would have won if they had completed the most incredible play I have ever seen. From behind the other team's goal, the player through the ball inbounds from all the way across the court... Dunigan went through a screen and tried to tap the ball in. Why tip it in? Because there was like .4 seconds on the clock and that's all you were allowed to do. He came within a hairsbreadth of making the tip in!!!!! That would have been one for the ages. If I remember correctly, Dunigan really played a good game that day, even though he was suffering through whatever injury he suffered.
That was prolly the very best out of bounds play I had ever seen, and yes he came so close to making it. -

that is correct, Steven Ash...but from what I'm hearing that will not even be enough. I hate to see a lot of sports get cut down to nothing and the kids suffer because lets face it a lot of kids stay in school and keep their grades up just because of sports. -
Lets hear it....How do you feel about it, are you ready for teachers and extracurricular activities cut down to almost nothing.

Cutting all Texas sports???
PoppaBearstarr replied to pepperspray's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
YOUR RIGHT PIRATES, It is a bad situation for many, not just parents, but athletics, teachers, kids, and the futures of a lot kids (not just athletics). I would very much support more taxes at the local level like to our school district but not to the state or the government. Everyone is fed up with money going to Washington and it is thrown around like there is no tomorrow....see clip. I'm really glad this guy represents us... [Hidden Content] -
Mexia vs Athens---MEXIA WINS 60-59!!!
Lazeek and Pappabear: thanks for the broadcasts this year. Keep 'em going forever, please. I'm already looking forward to next year. We just got home from Huntsville feeling sad, yes, but gratified for another great season of HJ hoops. Congrats and best of luck to Mexia. Not many teams withstand our comeback surges in the playoffs. Great job. Seemed like a bunch of really good kids, too. HJ Seniors: thanks for the memories, and so many nights of driving home happy. Work as hard in your future endeavors as you worked for your coaches. The sky's the limit for you guys. Coaches: you guys know how I feel about y'all. Many, many thanks. Best of luck next year. We'll see y'all at the games.
Me too Dr. slam I feel the same way, and I really have enjoyed watching your kids play you should be very proud of them they are wonderful young men and are a reflection of their dad, who is a pretty good guy. I love the fact that even though your kids are gone from the program that you still follow it just as passionately as they were still in it...as far as the broadcast I hope we can keep doing it, I love the fact that Hawk nation can listen even if they cant make it to the gym...

After watching both teams play...Athens will win this game.....they are the best team at the regional tournament I believe. sealy's #4 is a stud, but athens has a couple of those as well.
Don't sleep on Mexia!! ;D
Ha Ha (in the most sarcastic voice you could ever imagine) ....You know I think we all remember you saying that 14 times already...say what you want HJ didn't take jabs at the almighty Silsbee Tigers after they lost...remember they were supposed to win it all this year.....and lost in what their first playoff game....anyway mexia will have a hard time today against Athens, they will be tough to beat from here out, they are very good..I'm so very proud of the Hawks, another over achieving year...a year where we were supposed to be beat like like a drum by Cleveland and you proved them wrong...I will miss all of the seniors we will all miss you it has been an absolute pleasure to watch all of you compete at such a high level.

Reminds me of a team that HJ had trouble with during the regular season. I can assure you that HJ is focused squarely on the Black Cats. And that the people stirring the pot and talking trash on here are SILSBEE fans, that are deep down inside hoping that the Hawks trip and fall!!!! They really only have 2 players over 6 foot, but are quick and athletic. It appears they do not have the depth of Silsbee, which is a good thing. Should be a really good game!!!! **HARDIN-JEFFERSON vs CLEVELAND... HJ wins 75-68!
Man that sounds like you are ready for this year to end. But seriously, next year the favorites tag is squarely on the Hawks. Only question as far as our rivalry will be how well your new pt guard will handle the pressure the Tigers will apply. But HJ will have a huge weapon in Prudhomme and two other big ones in Persohn and Bosha. A big height advantage over us unless our two 6'10 transfers are eligible by the time we play. The Tigers will probably just elect to not show up on nights we play HJ just to save our energy for the other games. :)
Now I know your joking Silsbee has never had any problem getting transfers and making them eligible, and no way am I ready for this season to end... I'm positive that Silsbee will be very good next year, they always are, for the last four years we have been taking turns going to austin....I hope that we do not disappoint this year... -

Trey Richardson will be a deciding factor and Ced will cleanup everything under the basket, Good luck Indians
Seriously, Cleveland will win this game and continue on their journey to state. Not to take anything from HJ, but the Indians will definitely compete.
Sorry but HJ has had Clevelands # the last 3 years now....They do have a great team, but they always seem to catch the HJ flu...
