Could Shawn Pruhomme be the best player in SETX?
PoppaBearstarr replied to BADSANTA's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
But it is closer than dogs1218 thinks....SP was playing with a lot of pain when they played NED. He prolly hasn't seen him since. -

This game turned out nothing like I thought.....Great game plan by the coaches and even better play from the young men. Also glad to see Gus get his shot back...he knocked down some big 3's -

Congrats HF on the game sounds like the kids played well, & yes if my team was predicted for a 30 point loss and it looks like my team has improved like they have, I couldn't help but beat my chest a little so IMOO I say be proud that your team is moving in the right direction. -
I do understand that in order to like girl sports you really have to have a kid playing. I do not watch it on TV but I also do not watch the men on TV until March Madness. That being said I do not believe that the schools are doing this to promote the girls. Why would they do that? At Orangefield we have good crowds at both rather we are winning or losing and so does HJ. When my daughter was a senior they played at HJ and the gym was packed. Both of those schools do not need the boys game to fill the gym for them. Maybe the support is not there at other schools during down years? OF and HJ does not have that problem. Yes, OF has had some down years. Not many though. All in all it is, how well does a community support their team? If some of you guys had a girl and a boy playing your thinking would change. I think if you ask the kids themselve's, most of them like it. The guys want to see the girls play and the girls want to see the guys play. Before they only got to see each other play when their school held a tournament. Also how nice would it have been for Todd Sutherland to watch his daughters play on a regular basis. I know he chose that profession but he would have liked to see his daughters play more. Instead he had to watch film. To say that they changed to help the girls crowd is "Hog Wash". I have seen some girls do fantasic things with a basketball in their hand. Some had the boys going "WOW". ;) ;)
That is not completely accurate, I enjoy watching the girls play too. I do not have a kid on either...I love the format, I hope it's not a one year deal as aggie says, It is for the kids not the parents anyway. I think that it is great that we as fans can watch two varsity games in one night......Besides as I said the other day I have heard numerous support on it, just most on this site are complaining, but most of the people upset are watching teams that are struggling, that does make for a long day.

I just prefer to sit in the least crowded side, and the majority of the time that is the visitors side. Like I said before if the players can be mature enough to crawl all over each other on the court, then the parents of opposing teams should be mature enough to sit on the same side.
Please forgive bobcat4life who mentioned fans sitting on the vistor side. He is getting old and does not remember himself sitting on the vistor side at home games in the old gym. A lot of us parents did for many reasons. Here are some, kids that stood up during the whole game and was loud, then you had the adults you could not sit by because they embarrassed you(LOL!!) and like poppabearstar said there is simply more room where you can enjoy the game. Before we got the new gym I sat on the vistor side. When we got the new gym I sat on the home side in a corner by myself away from some of the idiots that sat right behind the benches or in the middle. When I did sit on the vistor side ( Old Gym ) it was fun listening to all the whinning that was going on. I heard this lady from Buna say "We always get cheated when we come to Orangefield" well the final score was 73- 38. She could not realize that maybe Buna was not that good and it would not have mattered if we played in Buna. LOL!!!!!!!
I would forgive him if it were necessary, but it is not no offense taken here, I don't take it personal, trust me, I'm just like you I just simply want to enjoy the competition. I just have been waiting for a while now to use my piggly wiggly comment... ;D -
I like it, maybe it can be modified to accommidate all the whinning parents. Back when I played the girls and boys varsity played together. Our parents did not have any problem with it. Who cares if kids don't go to bed before midnight, they don't anyway. You people are never happy. Complain, Complain and Complain. Good grief!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D I think it great and about time they went to this format.
Did I ever tell you I like the way you think.... ;D
poppabearstarr football games are fri nights, not tues nights getting home at midnight during a school night is uncalled for!!!
I forgot about it being Tuesday instead of Friday, I do realize that it could probably start sooner. Right now it is about an hour longer from what it was to what it is now, or at least that is the way it seems, I got in my car at 10:00 after the game last night and it used to be 9:00.
-
If it is late nights then do you go to football games.....it ends up being about the same time frame. I agree it could be started a little earlier, but this is what the people who do this for a living came up with, They are educated people, they go to school everyday ;D, if it doesn't work I'm positive that they will change it. JMHO I like not having to decide witch varsity I'm going to watch (boy's or girls) but I have heard 5 complaints about it and 25 or better say they love it.

They keep getting better, -
I too think that it is great, Most of the fan support is for the the boys side so the girls have very little support when it is in the other format.
Wildcatter...........great game from the Bobcats tonight. If that is the way that they always play then they will compete for a playoff spot. I was very pleased with the game that your son has. Must get it from his momma!!!! ;D ;D ;D OF had the Hawks on the ropes tonight. HJ played as bad a game as they have played all year and I credit it to the in your face pressure that the Bobcats ran all night long. OF had Prudhomme frustrated all night long and it showed as he missed easy layups and two easy dunks. More importantly I have never seen him have a verbal argument before with an opponent, and tonight he did. But I am sure you will have access to see the tape and understand that not only was it #10 for HJ but it was also #23 for OF. Both were going at it. I agree........how did HJ get the ball after Persohn tipped it out of bounds on the opening tip???? ::) ::) ::) OF came to play tonight and it showed. HJ must have been looking ahead to WOS on Friday and it almost cost them. Score is NOT as close as this game really was. HJ took their first lead with less than 30 seconds to go in the 3rd, and then made the FT down the stretch as OF had to foul. Foul count was within a foul or two until the final 2 minutes when the Bobcats had to foul. Great game and I am sure that it will be a great one in a few weeks!!! Good luck the rest of district OF!!!! Way to overcome some adversity and not hitting a single 3 ball tonight to win the game Hawks!!!!
It was a good game, OF played well, They came out with a lot of intensity and beat up on us for the first two quarters. Now before you get all piggly wiggly on assigned sides for home and visitors, I would think that if the players can play on the same court then the fans SHOULD BE mature enough to sit on the same side of the gym. By the way it is not the only place, I have been to every gym in our area for many years, and a lot of places there are few home fans sitting on the visitor side if thats the way you see it. Me for one I do not like to sit in a crowd of people, I like to sit where I have a little room around me, and that is usually on the visitor side, but I do not have kids playing so I'm not all emotional about it. I have friends at almost every school in our District and sometimes I will sit with them. I'm only aware of you that has had an issue with it. There were probably several missed calls but I can promise you that they were pretty equal missed for each side, you will not get a perfectly called game ever, You just have to adjust to how it's being called. as far as blaming # 10 only, it takes two to tango partner...I would have been upset to if my uniform were constantly being tugged on every time I tried to jump....just watch the film of the game. -

Gumbo taste better than hotdogs though!!! ;D
Yes, it does my friend.
I wouldn't know.....mike ate it all!!!!!!! But I feel ya brother on the picks, I told Janet early on that I felt we would win against OF, This team is different then the teams that we have had in the past, they are very quick so passes that look like they are right to us were just well timed darts through the passing lanes. I hope everyone enjoyed the broadcast, we did the best we could with what we had to work with, our view was blocked a bunch. Orangefield had a rough night shooting the ball I know, but part of that was that we bought those basketball rims from the carnies at the SE Texas state fair.....lol..... Wagner and Wyatt played well, I think it was Wyatt that had a sweet behind the back and reverse layup that made me go wow... -
The start of this game was CRAZY!!!! 19-0 run then a 17-0 run by the other team....
