If you could pick one coach and one player...
PoppaBearstarr replied to bullets13's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
You are kidding me....By the way I think Toney Dungee is a much better coach than Wade I don't care what ----- he is. I think Toney gets a lot more out of his players than Wade. So that blows your theory out of the water, but I would have to say I expected a comment like that comming from you. From what I have seen no one has said Boutte was a bad coach even though thats what you are trying to make it. Man think before you speak. -
Great game played by the Stangs, The Hawks were deffinately off the mark last night, we just couldn't get in the groove last night. Yes we were off a bit on our predictions, ( usually we are a lot closer) but thats OK a wins a win. Hopefully we will get it together before we play Silsbee and Orangefield. I was impressed with the stangs ball movement last night they really did a better job. Keep up the good work coach your team has improved.

Who does more with less. Thats how I gauge it. I think Boutte is a good coach, I just don't think he is as good as Sutherland.Sutherland has never had "that I know of" an NBA talent on his team, and just like you said How many D1 prospects, bluechips any of that but yet he still wins day in and day out, I do not think that if your guy had the same kind of talent he would do as good, Not saying he is a bad coach becuase he is not, but as Lazeek said earlier I'm glad to have them both in our area, I just think that Todd gets more done with less every year. -

It is a hard job no doubt about it, I could not do it. for sure so I don't have any room for critisism. As I said in a earlier post, I have never seen one throw a game and refs do not win or loose a game for a team generally as HJHawks said there are alot of other reasons for the loss. -

It should be an interesting finish. It will be tough for HJ to go to Silbee and beat them in their own house with being down one starter. ;D We will see.

You have two in 3 A as well Orangefield and Silsbee, One in 2A Woodville, So that 5 all together from this area... Not too shabby with hopefully more to come.

Great job Lady Hawks...now lets keep it rolling and win out

Refs usually do not win or loose games for a team. I have never seen a game where it was totally one sided, I have seen some bad officiating but it was just because it was different than what I was used to. I think every teams has to adjust to the calls, what I see that bothers me is inconsistency in calling it makes it impossible to adjust to. One second this is a foul and then it's not, it is very impossible to adjust to. They do get paid yes, but even the pro's make mistakes. Saying all of that to say this, the absolute worst officiated game I have seen all year was the HF at HJ varsity game. I felt sorry for both squads, it was very inconsistant. -
Best game you have watched this season?

HJ vs tyler Chapil Hill the gym was on fire that night...two great teams # 1 and #3 in the state, it was a great atmosphere and of course a close second the HJ and St. Thomas game and a close third HJ vs. Silsbee. -
looks like i need to make a trip to burkville and madisonville this year.

agreed. I hate to see a parent that way. It's a shame that it's that way but it's the same way in politics, the vocal majority is usually the minority overall, a small group of very vocal people can swing an election just becuase they it APPEARS they have the community behind them, but thats usually not the case. and by the way the new gym is coming just had the ground breaking on the new highschool Monday. Good luck to yall the rest of the year, I'm pulling for yall to make the playoffs this year. ;D

HNIC I appreciate the Hecklers this year, they have really cleaned up their act. I hate to say it but last year it got out of hand several times. They are doing a much better job this year as far as keeping it clean....Still not perfect but by far better than last year. I love to see them when they get really loud, it's so awesome to sit on the other side and hear it. I think the administrators have done a good job giving them some guidelines to go by.

Thanks Bleed, I appreciate the kind words and I do understand I was just playing devils advocate trying to get deeper into the problem, I guess my biggest point was that what was being said was the problem not sitting next to another parent from another town, I mean I have freinds that live in other towns that I do buisness with and we always take a few shots at each other about upcomming games but it is all in fun. but i guess if it was a perfect worldwe wouldn't need police men and women. dang extremist ruin it for everyone. and I understand what you are talking about I coached little league for 8 years and only four of those I coached my own son.

Evadale is so cool it's even got that big glass wall between the court and the snack bar...I could sit comfortably and watch a whole tourney there no problem.
-
Evadale has the best gym I have seen....everyone sits in their own chair.
-
That is kinda what I was trying to say to some of it. maybe I said it wrong when I said the show MUST be on the court not in the stands maybe what I should have said is.....the focus should be on the court not the stands. I do not have kids playing, just a die hard fan, so I don't get offended very easily, but I could understand how a parent could. I have seen kids get fouled and the parent of the kid doing the fouling get mad because they didn't think it was a foul and holler out foul him harder next time get your monies worth. To me whether or not anyone is sitting there is inconsequential, it's wrong to say. I hate it when you hear something that makes you turn around and look like :o To me parents should set the example to how there kids should act in public, Not separate everyone so no one can hear whats said...to me that's silly. For instance if you have an employee that keeps stealing money from the cash register do you just separate him from the cash and let him keep working with you or do you fire him and file charges. It's OK to be passionate about your team and stand up and cheer them on. Lets some it up with kindergarten rules 1.) treat others like you would like to be treated 2.) Respect others. 3. Don't bite, spit on, or hit anyone. 4.) Foul language will not be tolerated.
