HJ had 13 rebounds against Central........Rico only had two after having 22 against Kountze and only 4 against Nederland..........so nobody was blocking out and rebounding!!!!  Central also shot almost 60% from the field!!!!

I know one thing for sure............if that was mostly Centrals JV then they are going to be strong on the JV side of things this year!!!!

HJ lost to Central last year and went on to win Regionals and lose by 2 points in OT in the State semis......HJ will be fine, remember they still have football legs!!! :)

No real reason for the loss.........they just beat HJ.  Central did everything right that day and HJ did not!! :( :(

I just read this and would have answered with the same thing though..................HJ basically played what was Central's JV and for them to have those athlete's and basketball players on that team as a JV than they are much deeper and have more players to choose from because they are a bigger school with twice the enrollment.  Now there are also some exceptions to the rule.  Example HJ has played LCM, Nederland, Lumberton, etc in the past and have beaten them.  Size of school does have a bearing but not each time!!!  Dove I am just trying to come up with anything I can to make MYSELF feel better about losing to Central the other day!!!!

Just for clarification.........when did Kountze beat Central???

First of all he is almost 40!!!!  He is older than me!!!  Yes he is at a disadvantage that most good players went to Ozen, but with the "legend" gone he should be able to keep and actually get some of those players to go to Central now.  So you think that in 20 years that you will be able to compare Sutherland and Rice's resume???  If so you are crazy!!!!  And there is a huge difference in a 4a playoff and a 3a playoff team.  You think that Ozen and OF were close last season???  There is a difference.  I hope that Central has a great season and makes a deep run in the playoffs as well.  See it is easy for me to congratulate and wish a team well that beat my team..........it is very hard for some on this board to do that!!!! ;) ;) ;)

He may very well help his team but averaging a double double??  I know that this is the season if OF is to take out HJ, but they will need more than Hayes and Gunstream.

OF may have a shot at HJ this year at OF, but they don't matchup well with Silsbee and OF will lose each of these games by double digits!!!!!

I think Gus will be fine at PG and will be one of the top two in the district.  As far as Ricossa you will see by season's end that he is the best big man in the district.  he may not block shots like the two bigs from Silsbee, but offensively he is head and shoulders above the other bigs in 21-3A!!!!

My son and I are 50/50 on the Monday night deal in Beaumont but we already have tickets in hand for the taping of Smackdown and ECW the following night in the Toyota Center in Houston!!!

It was very obvious that I have seen two different Kountze teams over the last week!!!!!  If they play again I hope we see the same team that HJ saw last Friday night in Kountze!!! ;) ;) ;)

I have said a few times that Central has a very good team.  They beat HJ without there football players as well.  Central had a good game plan and HJ picked a bad day to shoot the ball terribly!!!  Most 3A playoff teams are not suppose to beat 4A playoff teams.  What is your point???  I have said congrats what more do you want???  How many playoff games has Rice won, how many district championships, how many regional championships, how many state championships, etc.  If we are gonna compare the two coaches that lets compare everything!!!!!! ;) ;) :D :D

BTW what does EC have this year???  I know that HJ plays them and then is also playing in the EC tourney.

I think they were..........but his excuse will be that Brey was not here last year and that it would have been different if he would have been there!!!

What about some 2A school???  Like Kountze.  You can make all of the excuses that you want.  you can say they were not ready from football, refs, poor shooting, coaching, missed layups, etc.......Kountze lost to HJ and unless they meet in the HJ tourney this year then HJ has the bragging rights for the entire year!!!

Weatherspoon will go in the first round............he is currently the best LB on the big board!!!!!  They actually have him going around 10th-12th pick overall!!!

This is the type of game that could bring the "team" together more!!!!  Not saying that they will go to Denver or Hawaii and win but the odds are better after getting a win last night!!!  If they had lost last night it would have been 5 in a row and likely would have been 7 in a row by next weekend!!!
