I am a loyal and frustrated Cardinal fan, but with the "great" recruiting classes that we have "had" how come we can't get the athletes and players that CC and SELA have? BTW TT the PG that you guys have is a stud!!!!! That is the type of PG that LU needs to get to replace Dawkins!!!

First of all, you are wrong by saying that Travis requested the UIL. Both schools agreed to use the UIL when they were told that the BMT. Chapter refs that both schools agreed upon would not be available. Also, if you will look at HJ's losses this year, all 5 of them have come at home. I will be posting a thread today explaining what went down with the Silsbee/HJ ref problem. Actually only 4 of the 5.........HJ lost against Central at Ozen.

TheRef, From what I have seen in this thread no one is blaming the refs for the outcome. I thought the officiating was okay. I think people are wondering why these two teams, who have always used the bmt. chapter for all their games suddenly go outside the chapter. Also, why would bmt. feel it was okay to pull their underlevel officials at the last second. That is not "handling their business".

Roc has now played almost 20 games with these guys and he still does not have them playing together. They play no defense. They really have no offense to speak of and not one guy that they can go to like Daniels a few years ago. I am not so worried about the offense because we have guys that can chip in 7-9 points consistently like Worrell, Hall, Harper, Custer, etc. but the problem is that we play no defense. Roc said after the game that this team is a driving team and that they wanted to keep them outside shooting. They did and they knocked down 14 threes!!!!!! At what point do you come out of the damn zone and go man??? Roc never came out of it and it cost the Cards big time!!!!! Poor coaching again and it may cost the Cards this season!!!! > > >

whsalum, My brother in law told me that last week on a Thursday night there were TWENTY THREE officials not working. Legacy had THREE officials at their junior high game and HJ had ZERO officials at their junior high game. Apparently, the "assigners" for underlevel games are not assigning games but, rather, asking officials to go online and sign up for games if they want to call them and if no one signs up for a game then you MIGHT get notified that you don't have any officials.

HJ usually is very good from downtown, but they really had a off night due to the pressure from Silsbee. If we are comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges then all of these schools are very equal. The difference is who can make the contested shots and who cannot? HJ's shots last night were contested and Silsbee's were not.

When the gym was 70% hawk fans and 30% tiger fans were do you suspect that they go? Here is a novel idea......grow up and quit acting stupid and stuff like this will not happen. Always too much sh#t talking going on in the stands. Sure is funny that I saw nothing but sportsmanship out of the players on the floor and coaches the entire game and after the game. The kids is what it is about......not the trash talkers in the stands!!!!!

He crawled into a little hole after the game last night and will likely be in there all weekend after the Steelers beat his Cardinals as well!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

I noticed that HJ's athletic director (Coach Martel) and a local guy had to referee the 9th and JV games last night. I also noticed that the officials that called the varsity game were not from the Beaumont Chapter. What is going on? I asked my brother in law why Coach Martel had to referee the game last night and he told me that Coach Sutherland got an email at 3:30 PM from a Beaumont Official notifying them that there would be no 9th or JV officials at Hawk Gym last night. 3:30 PM-----SERIOUSLY!!! WTH???? Anyone know what is going on here??

Really nothing to compare at this point. HJ started 5'10, 6'0, 6'4, 6'7 and 6'7 and ran you to death. They subbed 5 at a time the entire game. The second group was 5'10, 6'0, 6'1, 6'3 and 6'5. They also had two other 6'0 on the bench in the 11 and 12 spot. They were truly 10-12 deep and the top 8 likely would have started for any other team in the area at that time. I would say that athletically Silsbee has the edge, but HJ and Kountze IMO would both beat Silsbee pretty easily. Coaching edge goes to Coach Breithaupt from HJ over the other two coaches. Coach Sutherland was also an assistant on the 1991 HJ team.
