Silsbee 81 Kountze 64 I had to pick Silsbee to only win 81-64 since my Hawks beat Kountze 82-64!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

I REPEAT!!!!!!! One player fouled on in the 3rd.....that is a coaching mistake having him in!!!! The others fouled out late in the 4th (less than 4 minutes left on all 3)!!!!! HJ fouled a kid out and had a couple of others will 3-4 fouls. Kountze kept shooting jumpers and HJ was driving to the rim!!!!! Totally different style!!!!

Does anyone on this board really believe that people "from Sour Lake" or people "from Kountze" call a varsity basketball game? Really? The chapter assigns officials to a game and they will not assign varsity officials to a varsity game when the officials are from either one of the school's towns.

To answer the 4 players fouling out. One player fouled out in the 3rd. That is the coaching staff responsibility to keep tabs on player fouls....why was the kid in if he has 4 fouls anyways in the 3rd if he is a starter? The other 3 fouled out with less than 3-4 minutes to play. HJ had one kid foul out and 2-3 others with 3-4 fouls also. I would guess that the foul count was about Kountze 30 and 25 for HJ. The difference all of HJ's fouls were on the press and most of Kountze's fouls were in the lane and Hawks driving to the basket.

It is amazing that you continue to dog a team that has kicked your arse twice in the last two weeks!!!!! Why can't you just accept the fact that you lost twice to the better team??? You keep saying that Kountze is missing players and this and that excuse, well HJ is playing with 3 kids that have Varsity experience. Other that Benard, Burrell and Turner you are playing HJ's JV team from last season!!!! Kountze is a good team and will go far this season again. I hope that they win state and bring another championship to SE Texas and also give ex-HJ player Duane Joubert another state title!!!!

Very nice output whsalum about the ref. Now like u all know I didn't go to the game so that why I said what I did. But since I really know the ref aren't from HJ I can say my question finally been answered. Nice post MasterT!!!! HJ is not as deep as Kountze!!! HJ is the better overall team thought!!! I thought the game was called pretty well, but if a team had a advantage I would say that it swayed in HJ's favor, but in HJ's defense I will also say that they were taking it hard to the basket and drawing fouls from Kountze's agreesive style of play. Jacoby had 32 and made one 3 and the other 29 came from the line or in the paint!!!!! Great game to watch also. Best of luck to Kountze and I hope that Coach Joubert brings SE Texas state championship!!!!

I could not agree more whsalum!!!! The only thing was the 3 second call was late in the 4th when Kountze was making a run when HJ spread the floor a bit!!!!

This will be a tough game for HJ as they cannot match up with Central size wise. If Central has some bigs they will control the inside and you know that HJ is now 2-37 in the last two games from behind the 3 point line. I expect Central to win in a close game. :-[ :-[

Couple of things: Trey was 10/10 from the FT line and Trey is a perimeter player/guard. And all three of these guys are capable of going for 20-30 on any night. In their first game Trey scored 20 and Jarvis scored 34. In their second game Trey scored 24 and the difference was Jacoby and Jarvis only combined for about 20. Last night Jarvis (28), Jacoby (32), and Trey (10). The young players will come along and fill their roles nicely. I'll tell you what, if these guys are the high school version of the "Big 3" then you can say what you want, I sure like the result the "Big 3" had at the end of their season.

HJ will not face many teams that apply more pressure than Kountze and Silsbee. If it takes getting 60 from those two to win then I will take it. One thing that you must remember is that HJ has 3 players (Benard, Burrell and Turner) that have ever played Varsity ball before. Others will get more involved and comfortable as the season goes. Tonight Ricossa was a very solid player on the inside and his presence was felt in rebounding, blocking shots, taking 2 or 3 charges and scoring. I guess he had around 10 points. Also Gus is a sophomore and is getting better by the day. They are not as deep as in the past but with the 1-2-3 punch of the Big 3 then they will do fine. You can usually take one player out of his game but it will be tough to take all 3 out on a given night.

Jarvis had 28 and Jacoby Turner had 32 tonight. HJ was 2 of 20 from 3 point land tonight. That makes 2 of 37 for the last two games. That is good news and bad news. The good news obviously being that this trend won't continue and when they break out it could ugly. The bad news is they will have to grind it out until then.

HJ won 82-64 and led all night by as many as 20. Kountze fought back and cut it to 7 on two occasions. HJ was led by Jarvis Benard tonight and I would guess that he had around 26-28 and only hit one 3 and it came with 4 minutes left when Kountze cut it to 7. Kountze is very athletic and quick and they began to wear down the Hawks later in the game. Jarvis was the best player on the floor but Ramon Walker is a beast and can handle the ball better than I expected. Kountze will go deep in the playoffs with the coaching and experience that they have. I will be the first to admit that the refs were not exactly good tonight. There were bad and I mean bad calls tonight and HJ did benefit more than Kountze............however it may have made the game a little closer but HJ still has the better team overall IMO!!!!! HJ finally played the way that they know how to and are expected to. I really thought after Friday's loss to Nederland that it was going to be a long season and that the Hawks possibly could not compete with Silsbee, but I have renewed my faith and feel like the Hawks have rebounded from the loss and will once again be a force in 21-3A!!!!!! How did Torres do in the State Tournament 2 years ago while winning a State Championship and in the regional Finals losing to Silsbee last year?? HJ plays a tough schedule by playing a few teams that are up and the teams that they play down are teams like Kountze and EC who are state ranked. Hey don't get me wrong Torres looks like a great player and I would love to have a player like him at HJ to take pressure off of Jarvis, but Benard is the better player day in and day out!!! We will just have to agree to disagree!!!! I wish the best of luck to Torres and the Dogs!!! Hope you guys beat Ozen!!!! ;D ;D ;D

One game does not justify whether a player a better than another!!!! Torres was the best player on the floor on Friday night though, but that was that one game. Benard is one of the elite players in all of SE Texas and lets just wait and see when HoopinsiderCoop releases his player ratings for SE Texas and then see where the two players in question are ranked. I would bet anything that you want that Benard is not only ranked higher but considerably higher!!!! ;D ;D ;D
