I got word today that the Coach Pitch League will begin October 6th and go for 4 weeks and each team will play 2 games each week. Glad to be able to play the season!!!!! ;D I mean my son is glad to play the season!!!!

Just got word that the repairs will be done in time for district for sure and maybe a little sooner. Maybe several road games to start the season.

What options would HJ have to host home games if the Hawks Nest would not be available???? ---The other gym(Blue Gym) at HJ has no seating!!! ---The junior high gym(Henderson) is not big enough for the HJ fans, much less fans from other schools!!! ---The Little Dribblers gym(Nome) will hold about 150 total!!! Possible options in my opinion........ ---Play all home games at Ford Park!!! ;D That would be sweet!!! ---Play all home games at West Brook. None of the five options are very realistic.........hopefully they can have it ready by the time district rolls around.....at least the home game verses Silsbee!!! ;D

FINALLY!!!!!!!! I have power back and I am in my bed watching TV and have my laptop with me!!! No DirectTV though!!!! Hope I can get it fixed before Sunday for the NFL Sunday Ticket!!! ;D

You sure are helping my argument. Where do they get that "basketball mind?" From playing many many hours of basketball. Not just 3 months out of the year, it has taken many many years of playing year round, and good coaching. You are also wrong on Burrell he is an outstanding athlete and could be a really good football player if he puts in the time. I would bet every school in the district would trade one for one right now. Athletes are athletes, heck Antonio Gates never played football in college only basketball and now he is in the NFL. Football is a team sport requiring many players working together basketball can be dominated by one or a few. Again, i would say HJ has more athletes and better athletes than HF and OF, but have lost in FB. And Silsbee has better than each but HF beat them as well? It is about commitment to the sport and winning. OF and HF commitment is Football.......not basketball!!!! [/quot And? And? come on?? what is HJ's Commitment in??? The answer to the million dollar question for the original coach basher on here was......? HJ has a commitment in both sports. That is why HJ athletic director is Martel. If it was solely basketball then they would have hired Sutherland as the AD when they hired Martel. They wanted to improve the football program!!!! It is just very hard with the talent pool and the district that they are in!!!

There is a difference between athletes and basketball players!!!!!! I would take 10 basketball players over 10 athletes on the hardwood any day!!!!!! HJ has basketball players or basketball minds, not athletes!!!!! Burrell and Turner are the exception....they are athletic and have a basketball mind!!!!

Silsbee is good in football and basketball!!!!! Ozen is good in football and basketball!!!!! WOS is good in football and basketball!!!!! EC is good in football and basketball!!!! Oh really??? Year in and year out?? I don't think so!!!!! Go back and check your past season records on each!! I think your reaching there!! But I am not saying it cant be done I am saying it is rare and usually requires an exceptional number of skilled athletes. As I said earlier........HJ does not have the athletes that these other schools have in our district. Coach Martel has proven that he is a winner. If he had the athletes that other schools in the district (WOS, Silsbee) have then HJ would be a playoff team guaranteed!!!!!
