Final score was actually 52-42 Kelly. Buna should have continued to work the ball inside in the second half, but they got away from it for some reason. Kelly spread the floor in the 3rd quarter and used their speed and quickness advantage to extend their 6 or 7 point halftime lead. Kelly does play aggressive man to man defense on the perimeter. Might be a problem when they start keeping track of player fouls in real games next week. Buna has a solid team and I wish we had yall on the regular schedule. Good luck during the season.

Tough team for Kelly to match up with. They have the 6'9" kid inside with a 6'6' backup, and three or four really good 3 point shooters. With our two best post player currently out, at times we are playing with 5 gaurds. However, the first quarter was pretty even as we came out hitting from behind the arch, but in the second quarter when the shots weren't falling, we fell behind and were down 32-22 at the half. We cut the lead to 7 several times in the third, but could never come up with the all important definsives stops to really get any closer. Final score was 65-51, not 65-49. Kelly was led by Andrew Messina with 14 and Taylor Pace and Thomas Falgout with 12 each. Good news is one of our post players in back Monday and hopefully the other is back the next week. We have only had the two of them together for about 7 or 8 games all year.

It will be interesting to see if we can hang with these guys. I know they have one of the 6'9" kids back (the skinny one) from last year and they also have Clyde Drexler's son who is 6'5". Not really sure whoelse they have, but have heard they are good, but not as good as last year. We will have to play great and get some kind bounces along with some good calls (lol) just to stay in the game.

I believe the boys JV game vs. St Thomas is at 4:30, then the girls varsity plays St. Pius at 6:00 and then the varsity boys play St. Thomas at 7:30. At least thats what I was told.

Tuff loss for Kelly. Had a 8 point led going into 4th qtr after having been ahead the entire game. Played without our two post players. One is ineligible and the other was benched for the game after getting in trouble at school. And then had 3 players with 4 fouls going into the 4th quarter. With all that still should have won this game. Kelly was lead in scoring by Thomas Falgout with 24 and Taylor Pace with 12. Next game is Friday at home vs. St. Thomas.

Beaumont Kelly vs. Bridge City Game Thread/Kelly wins

Kelly played what I would best describe as an uninspired first half and was ahead 31-28 at the break. For whatever reason we played much better in the second half and pulled away for the victory. Kelly was lead in scoring by Andrew Messina (30), Josh Kern with (25) and Taylor Pace (11). We have a very important district game at Houston Christian Friday. -
St. Pius is long and athletic. They have 4 kids in the 6'5" to 6'6" range, which is a really hard match up for us. However, Kelly battled the entire game, but the 2nd qtr was our downfall. We were outscored 28-12 in the 2nd qtr and were down 13 at the half. We battled back in the second half and cut the lead to 3 in the final minute, but couldn't pull in out in the end. The team showed a lot of heart. Kelly was lead in scoring by Taylor Pace and Andrew Messina with 20 each and Thomas Falgout with 15.

I gotta go with Silsbee, especially at home. Kelly just played both teams in the past week, and Silsbee's defense and depth are the two things that impressed me the most. By far the two best teams we have played all year, but Silsbee's defense makes it hard to get into your offense. I'll take Silsbee at home by 10. Toss up at HJ. Good luck to both teams.

I didn't claim that the refs were bad and in fact I thought they called a pretty good game. They let the kids play. I heard both coaches telling their team to quit complaining about the refs becasue they aren't calling the touch fouls and just go up strong. It just like I tell my boys, if the first thing you are going to say is it was the refs fault when you loose, tell it to someone else because I don't want to hear it. Play the game, adjust to the what the refs are calling, and give 110%. No excuses. -

Final score was 68-49 Kelly. Leading scorers for Kelly were Taylor Pace with 20, Josh Kern with 12 and Andrew Messina with 11. And yes the refs were 30 minutes late, but through three quarters more fouls were called on Kelly than Orangefield so I'm not sure what he is complaining about. -
Good win for Kelly against a pretty good Woodville team at their place in their own tournament. I couldn't make the game so I appreciate it being broadcast. At least I got to listen to some of it. Great job. From someone who was there, can you provide a brief summary of the game? Thanks again and hopefully I will make the championship against Silsbee.

Last year we started a freshman, a sophomore, two juniors and a senior most of the time. Believe it or not the only one with varsity experience was the sophomore. This year we start 4 seniors and a sophomore. They all played varsity last year except one and that experience from last year makes a big difference. Also this year our strength is our outside shooting and coach is letting them get the ball up the court, look for the open man and take the 3 if it's there. We take a lot of 3's and we make a lot of 3's most of the time. We also got a new player eligible at the Christmas break that has helped our depth a little. He's only about 6'1" but he is a quick jumber and has really helped our inside game. He rebounded well and blocked 3 or 4 shots against Lumberton. But for anyone who has seen the teams in our district, size matters. It's going to be really tough going up against St. Thomas and St. Pius with the size advantage they will have inside. Hopefully our hot shooting as of late continues into district play.

Kelly played really well again today and won 71-62. Kelly was up 33-29 at the half and extended the lead to 12 or 13 in the 3rd. Lumberton cut it to 6 in the 4th, but Kelly won it at the line the last two minutes. Good win for the Bulldogs. Kelly is off until after Christmas when they play in the Woodville tournament Monday.

Great. Thanks for the information. I don't remember us winning or that the game was at Kelly last year. It sucks to get old. -

On the Kelly schedule that I received from coach this is listed as a home game. Plus I'm pretty sure we played in Lumberton last year. And if it is in Lumberton, that middle school court is in bad shape. Why not the high school? -

Here are the Kelly scores from the Hempstead tournament: Thursday - Bellville 53; Kelly 50 OT Friday - Magnolia West 54; Kelly 47 Friday - Kelly 74; Houston Heights 44 Saturday - Kelly 76; Allen Academy 53 We were supposed to play Hope Academy Saturday afternoon but they didn't show up. Allen Academy from Bryan, who we played Saturday morning, is coached by former Baylor coach Dave Bliss. Kelly was missing starters for the games Thursday and Friday and we just don't have the depth to be able to have anyone of our starters out. The championship of the tournament was between Hempstead and San Antonio Cole (Shaquille O'Neale's school). We didn't stay but Cole looked like they would be able to handle Hempstead. Please update Kelly's results to reflect the above scores. -

For whatever reason, Kelly came out flat and fell behind by 20 in the first half. In fact Kelly only had 9 points at halftime. Played much better in the second half. Actually had two free throws with 4 seconds left down 46-45. Made the first, missed the second and then missed a put back at the buzzer. Lost in overtime. No more details as I wasn't there, just what I was told. Play 4A Mognolia West at 11:15 this morning. Any more updates available on this tournament? -
Kelly vs slocum @ toyota center updates..Slocum Wins/Comments

He really has done a great job there. I saw them play twice in the Huntington tournament and of course Saturday, and they are very fundamentally sound. They run a really good motion offense with lots of screens, back screens and back door cuts. Hard to defend. Coach Bruce's last year at Kelly when my oldest son's freshman year. -

Really a fun experience for the boys playing in the Toyota Center. A really good game as well. The lead changed hands throughtout the game with neither team having more than a 5 point lead. The nba 3 point line was in effect, no high school line in the Toyota Center, and that really effected the scoring as both teams shoot and usually make a lot of threes. There were only 4 threes made in the entire game by both teams. Kelly was lead by Taylor Pace with 17 (3 nba 3's) and Bryce Posey with 11. -
PN-G vs. Kelly Game Thread/PNG WINS 67-60!!!
bmtcpa87 replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
A little disapointed in the way Kelly played last night. Way to many turnovers resulted in lots of easy baskets for PNG. Maybe the 5 games in the Huntington tournament gave us a case of tired legs. Not taking anything away from PNG, Doty had a great game and they game to play and took it to Kelly in the first quarter. Kelly was lead by Pace with 23 (7 3's), Falgout with 17, and Posey with 12. Kelly's next game is against Slocum in the Toyota Center this Saturday at 1. Should be fun. -

Kelly's record is 7-6. In the team results you do not have the second win over Painview in the St. Loius tournament. The score was 48-28. Also, the score of the Crockett game was 84-73 not 84-43. We got beat but not that bad. It was a really good game. -

The Kelly Crocket game was a run and gun game. Score was tied at 43 at the half. Crockett was up 63-57 at the end of the 3rd. It was 78-72 Crockett with 1:21 left, but Crockett pulled away in the last minute. A very entertaining game. Crockett is good. Their guards can shoot and are quick and their bigs are athletic. They also have good depth off the bench. Their two posts players had 35 and 21 points each. I'm not surprised they beat Slocum, but I am surprised at how bad they beat Slocum. Kelly played Hempstead last night and won 62-50. One of the better games Kelly has played this year. Kelly was up like 44-40 going into the 4th. The boys steped up and played really well in the 4th to pull away. Nice to see after the tuff game earlier in the day against Crockett. Good luck today against Lovelady. Can't make it today gotta work. A report from anyone that can be there would be greatly appreciated. -

Kelly won 73-56 in Tomball last night. I could not make he game last night, so I have no details. Last Wednesday, Kelly defeated Plainview 48-28 in the St. Louis tournament. Plainview beat Ferriday Wednesday morning, so Kelly played Plainview again, not Ferriday. Please update Kelly's schedule/results to reflect this game. -
Thanks no-look. I appreciate your help. Any way we could get the entire tournament bracket? And how good is Crockett?
