Thanks for the encouraging words everyone. We came out COLD(2 fg) in the 1st quarter and really paid for it. We did not look in sync throughout the game and our youth finally caught up with us. Too many mistakes; We literally threw the ball to Centerville on 3 occasions that I can remember. This was the best referee-ed(is that a word, lol) game I've seen in a while. But for what it's worth, we had a chance to win it in the end, but the shot hit the back of the rim and bounced away. We'll be back, We'll be back. This 1-point loss will be the motivation for the young Lion team. Good luck to all locals still in the hunt. I'm extremely proud of them for sticking together throughout the season. They surprised alot of people this year be able to get this far.

Wow! Didn't know that. Also, New Waverly beat Hempstead by 2 a month ago in Hempstead. With me being from Kountze, I know its hella hard to beat a good team THREE times in one season. I'm thinking Hempstead will pull the upset.

And EC beat that same "5-7" Warren team by 6 points and few days earlier. Check your stats before you post.

Is this source "hawk77" even credible enough to be questioning? This game has been set since last week, and I'm sure there will be lots of security on hand at the Montagne for a triple-header.

Were any of you at the game? For all you know, the starters could have sat out the whole 2nd half. What are the subs supposed to do? Not shoot the ball? This is a VERY young Kountze team and I'm pretty sure the coach wants to keep his players "in the groove" as playoffs roll around.

In the TABC poll, it's all about who-knows-who, but I'll say this, it's a GREAT thing for Kountze and East Chambers not be ranked in the playoffs because teams won't really know what to expect from both EC or Kountze. I think they will again meet up in Tyler at Regionals.

Warfan, your hatred for the Kountze Basketball program is VERY obvious, but I'm am quite appalled and at the same time, outraged, that you would call our brand of basketball "THUG BALL AT IT'S BEST." Kind of a discriminatory remark, but I will not take that route. Fred Williams (Texas Hall of Fame Basketball Coach), Andre Boutte (Ozen Head Coach), David Green (Fort Bend Hightower Head Coach), Travis Williams (Silsbee Head Coach), Todd Sutherland (Hardin-Jefferson Head Coach), and current coach Duane Joubert. All of the previous names listed were successful coaches in the Kountze program, and from what I'm taking from it is that you're saying that they LET these kids play "THUG BALL AT IT'S BEST." We (Kountze) have been running the same press (with a few tweaks) for the past 15 years. That same "THUG BALL" as you call it has won District Championships, Regional Championships, and also STATE Championships. The kids are taught the SYSTEM, by the head coach, and execute it. I guess the reason I am so outraged at your comment is because I'm a former Kountze Basketball player myself and the way we played the game was never looked at as "THUG BALL."

Call it superstition, but each year EC and Kountze have met at the Montagne for a seeding game, Kountze went on the win the State Championship! Bring it on!

I had a good feeling Hardin would lose one of their last 3 games. They've played every team in the district close (except Buna, no pun intended). And Warren is a hard place to win in.
