It was '05. In '04 we were 3A (36-2) and ranked #9 Nationally in the Southwest Region by USA Today.

2nd year in a row...Kountze won it outright in '06

HAHAHAHA.. are you serious?? You dont think Donte Raymond is good IMO I don't think he poses a threat for any team. He has no "outside" shot. The leader for that team(EC) the next two years will be #1 Jacoby Carrington. I've seen him play a few times and was quite impressed to say the least. But saying that EC has Donte Raymond coming back is like saying that Houston Rockets having 'Dikembe Mutombo' coming back....

This is their remaining schedule: 2/5 @ Warren; 61-57 win first meeting 2/8 Anahuac; 60-57 win first meeting 2/12 Deweyville; 83-74 win in 2OT first meeting It came down to the last minutes for Hardin to beat each of these teams in their first games. Warren is a hard place to win, and Anahuac is no pushover. I think they drop the game on the road against Warren Tuesday.

Really crazy....All three teams have beaten each other..., but realistically I look for Hardin to drop another game and Kountze/EC to battle it out for the number 1 seed. Thats a great thing, that way Kountze can continue their streak of consecutive district championships.....13 and counting!

Didnt want to bring this up until later but whoever gets 2nd in district 24-2A will have a better shot and making it to Regionals. Why? Because the way the bracket is set up, 1st place and 3rd place out of the district will meet before Regionals. Crazy huh? You also have to look of for Jefferson in East Texas as well as Tatum. Hopefully Newton doesn't choke in the playoffs....

] Hey 24, I've posted a couple of times about the youth on this year's team. That could be the reason it has taken them a while to get rolling. I was frustrated at the beginning of the season, but I've come to understand that they're a VERY young team. Looks like they've found their swagger though....lol ;D

My prediction is that Kountze will win by more than 10 points. I believe Kountze took them for granted in their first game, along w/ playing in Hardin. If you look at the current Kountze team compared to back in December, you will see that they're very different teams. In other words.....THEY'VE FOUND THEIR SWAGGER! ;D

Gabe is currently at Texas State and sitting out this year per NCAA transfer rule.

I do believe that Hardin "SHOCKED" Kountze the last time they played and I'm confident that the Lions will win this one handily (+15). Kountzes' offensive weapons are coming to life at the right time. You have to remember that the Lions are VERY young. Zay McDaniel (FR.), Roman Walker (SO.), and Devin Bray (SO).) are key components to the Lions offense. The second part of the district season will be very interesting to say the least, as I look for Hardin to drop a few games.

FYI, Kountze and EC were Co-District Champions, with EC winning the playoff seeding game at the Montagne.

IMO I think they will finish 2nd in the district, with EC finishing 3rd, and Kountze finishing in 1st. EC already has 2 district losses, and I don't see Hardin beating Kountze in Kountze. Kountze has a good chance to beat EC in Winnie, which in turn could lead to EC possibly having 3 losses in district. I look for a dark-horse team to beat Hardin somewhere in the near future, as they play good one night and play like hell the next. This has to be the most interesting district on this side of Texas to say the least. Should be very fun in the second part of district.

Umm....what happened! Wow, we outscored them 45-21 in the second half.

16-6 right now....WOW! This is a great year for Deweyville basketball. In my Lee Corso voice "Not so fast my friend!" I could not help but post this. The Pirates have beaten the MIGHTY: High Island Cardinals (1-13), THREE, 3, THREE times this year - (81-45, 71-50, 68-32) Evadale Rebels (2-11), TWICE - (68-38, 78-27) Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns (2-18), TWICE - (92-56, 73-54) West Hardin Oilers (5-11), TWICE - (77-45, 82-75) By looking at your record, you had me fooled. 9 of your wins came against teams with 10 totals wins for the year. Your first win against an opponent with a WINNING record was Wednesday against Anahuac. Good scheduling at its best. Anyways.....Good luck tonight and for the rest of the season.

??? A CLEAN, HARD foul? Scares me... How can you have a CLEAN, HARD, foul? Is this the type of game you play IN Deweyville?

Glad to see the "Deweyville" faithful predicting that their team will win. The only reason that this game "has a possibility" to be close is because the game is being played 'IN' Deweyville. Get your guards ready and work on those ball-handling drills because you will need it. Kountze pressured EC into a large amount of turnovers on Friday and I don't think Deweyville has anywhere near the type of guard the Bucs have. The Lions are coming off a HUGE win against East Chambers and don't look for them to slow down any time soon. I know that the Pirate fans are happy with their current success but don't look at the Kountze record and think these guys are a pushover. The game will/might be close up to halftime witht the Kountze pressure taking its toll on Deweyville in the 2nd half.
