I think Texas will win 27 - 14 - they still have the athletes over Rice at this time.
-
Who wouldn't - but a little late don't ya think? One game does not make or break a season - Texas season is far from over but definite improvements will have to be made.
-
TxHoops - while I have not watched LHN this week has been fun. As you know through the years A&M has been on the other side of the coin too many times where Texas is involved - Let us enjoy while we can
-
Yeah meant Kyle - got too excited

Got to be a smarta**: Was the storms name Notre Dame?

My take on the Aggies game - if you should care: 1. Kirk is the real deal - 2 years then Pro loved the way the coaches were quoted as saying he was a team player - but do have flash backs of "Thrill" Hill and the Heisman comments after 1 game 2. Defense appears to be much improved and much more aggressive - if that continues could help A&M turn the corner 3. Conner struggled at first and still appears to have a long way to go - but (1) the 2nd half was much better and (2) was impressed with his comments after the game on being taken out for Murray - not one gripe 4. Murray - expect them both to play a lot as that give the offense two distinct types of offenses with basically the same personal - could work in their favor 5. O-Line looked over whelmed in the first half and that affected Conner it was obvious 6. Was a good win but too soon to place them into the playoffs - still a long hard season 7. Spavital should be replaced

My take on the game - remember I root for the Aggies: 1. Malik Jefferson is the real deal - Texas will have him 2 years then a first round draft pick 2. Texas Offensive Line is bad - could cause issues all year 3. Defense was not nearly as good as last year but they lost a lot of core players to the draft - if the new players do not step up and soon could be a long year 4. I am beginning to think that Coach Strong may not be the man to turn Texas around on the field - my high school coach said you see what type of players you have an design your offense and defense around those facts - this is his 2nd year and he has had Swoopes and Heard now for 1 full season and 1 full off season and he - appears to me - to still be trying to turn a run first pass second kind of QB (both Heard and Swoopes) into a pass first and run second QB and it has not worked - is that due to the O-Line maybe - but you have to know what you got by now and design something that may work in your favor.

When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." Maybe just Maybe you should listen to his advice! In this discussion it appears to me that your team (a Big 12 member) has no room to "throw stones" at the SEC - In my opinion. When the Big 12 programs continue to schedule cupcakes like SFA, Lamar, Georgia Southern , Liberty, UNI, Toledo, Central Arkansas, Rice, Texas-San Antonio, Akron, South Dakota State, UTEP (which by the way several of the SEC teams play teams off this list as well), Kansas, Iowa State and others ...... I would equate that to throwing stones. Opppppps - sorry should have left Kansas and Iowa State off that list - while cupcakes that are on the conference schedule.
-
You still trying to preach that SEC non-conference line. So let's look at the Big 2 (Baylor and TCU) non-conference schedule for this year will we. SMU (both teams), SFA, Lamar and Rice. Not exactly loaded with powerhouse programs is it?
-
Not too surprising as all the judge did was say that the LA courts have jurisdiction - still will likely be pursued in the LA system. Just move favorable area for LSU and would not be surprised to see Chavis lose.
-
LSU vs. A&M might just be a grudge match this year - gonna be fun to watch.
-
Fact is that there are a lot of football players that are kicked out of schools that can still play and perhaps should be given a second chance - however, if it was left up to me any felony - specially ones that involve sexual assault - would be prohibited from any second chance options.
-
Kinda like that
-
That's my only issue with the "Total Number of Arrests" figure. The total number of 22 does throw A&M into a bad spotlight and to a degree that is deserved - However, you look into the actual violations and with the notable exception of the 2 players with the assault charge the other charges range from PI, Mary Jane possession (1) to Noise violations (several). While some schools have much more - even if lower in number - serious violations. Like I am not aware of any player at A&M being arrested for sexual assault like another school in the state had 2.

This stated nothing but what my Texas friends have been saying for the last year. No Texas Ex that I know likes and / or wants to keep Patterson. They all think he is at best hindering and as worst destroying not only the Texas athletic programs but negatively affecting the University as a whole. From what I have read I tend to agree with them.
-
Texas A&M and Texas on on the opposite sides of the same argument: If A&M's defense improves they have a chance to be one of the surprise teams of the year, that being said if Texas can find and offense and their defense can come close to what they were last year they have the same chance of being one of the surprise teams of 2015. But I do wonder if Texas can repeat their defensive stats from last year with the losses suffered in the draft - Can they replace 4 players that were drafted and one pretty good DE that was not (Cedric Reed) - thats a lot of good players gone. I also agree that Texas A&M is rated too high on that list.
-
Got my Information from Rivals - And I think that with past on field accomplishments you should not include the 2015 year since those athletes have not stepped on he field yet. Look both teams are both doing better than Texas and Texas A&M with the recruits they are getting - that is hard to argue with - which is better HELL flip a coin. On Strong - I may be wrong but do not think I am - but was not Texas favored against BYU and ended up losing 41-7?
-
Briles doesn't really do more with less, that would be what Patterson does. Briles gets high level recruits on a yearly basis, especially on the offensive side of the ball. I hope you do not really believe that - Baylor's Avg. recruiting class from 2010 - 2014 was 39.2 (highest class 31 in 2013) while TCU's Avg. recruiting class for the same period was 37.8 (highest class was 26 in 2011) so while neither has a bragging rights in regard to recruiting the case is that TCU has had better classes every year with the exception of 2014 and 2010. So in reality both do a lot with not a lot. With that Baylor has been 40-12 over the last 4 years while TCU has been 34-17 basically facing the same level of competetion - Advantage Briles. On the position of Sumlin and Strong we could argue back and forth all day and spout statistics to support our case - the only difference here is I also think that Strong is a good coach and do not throw out hate against him the way the anti-Aggie crowd does against Sumlin - only thing that I feel is that Strong has yet to prove himself is a real conference like the Big 12 year in and year out as he made is rep in he Big East / ACC and in 2013 Strong's best year (12-1) he literally played only 1 ranked team and lost and in 2012 was not much better as facing any ranked teams - but he does deserve credit for beating the #4 ranked and SEC team in the bowl game in 2012. Strong is 43-22 as a head coach while Sumlin is 63-28 as a head coach - still believe that is a slight advantage Sumlin.
-
Briles - Does more with less and still wonder what he could accomplish with Texas or A&M recruits Patterson - if it was not for 2012 (7-6) and 2013 (4-8) would have him as No. 1 Sumlin Strong Sorry can't put Strong over Sumlin till he does better than 6 - 7 at Texas
-
Coog02, So it is your belief that no matter how much things change they always stay the same! Interesting - Look nobody specially me is saying or has ever said that Texas was going to fade into oblivion like the anti-Aggie crowd seems to think will happen to the Aggie's (likewise with TCU and Baylor) all I have said is the state is now split and that will not change overnight and even if Sumlin were to depart for any reason. Do I think that A&M is guaranteed a top 10 class every year - NO they will have to work hard to keep the edge they currently have. But regardless of if Texas fans like it, admit it or even accept it the SEC is a big deal in attracting the top recruits into considering your school. Texas is Texas and will be a force to be reckoned with in the great State of Texas - they just are not longer the only team on the podium and I believe that is not likely to change soon. And your concern about A&M QB's it touching but I really think you need to be more concerned about your (Texas) QB play at this time!
-
Will just have to agree to dis-agree - If Sumlin was the ONLY reason for the A&M to have top 25 recruiting classes then why then from 2002 - 2011 did A&M have 3 top 10 classes and another 7 top 25 classes (only 1 year 2007 was out of the top 25) before Sumlim, new facilities or the move to the SEC? And don't bring up previous classes like it is just at A&M that players leave as if you look at the Texas 2013 recruiting class only 8 out of 14 signers are still on the roster at Texas - So it happens to all universities. And only quality players come to play for Sumlin - REALLY? Texas A&M has 34 listed on NFL rosters at one level or another so do not tell me that A&M cannot attract the top players - it does have to start getting better seasons and longer back to back winning seasons there is no doubt. And even if Lampkin is the "only" player that won't be on campus that still makes A&M with a better 2015 recruiting class - but I expect that more than Lampkin will be no-shows.
-
And to I think that A&M can compete with the top of the SEC - they will have to prove that first as well. But keep getting quality recruits and the chances of that will improve as well.
-
Are we talking kids signed on signing day or actually enrolled in school - there is a major difference this year. If you take kids actually enrolled in school then it appears Strong's preaching might - just might not be as good as you think it is. If Strong - Hell any coach at Texas - cannot pull in a top 20 recruiting class should be immediately fired as just the Texas name and history should pull in that many recruits. I have stated manys time that I hope and do think that Strong will be a good coach for Texas - but the blinders that some Texas fans have amaze me - he is not perfect - just like Sumlin is not perfect either. In my opinion you are right on one point - Sumlin if not successful this year will be in trouble in College Station - However, do I think that if Sumlin is replaced that the recruiting will just dry up - No - The facilities, SEC and other factors will not go away with Sumlin's departure - Texas will have to share the Texas recruits with A&M, Baylor and TCU for a time to come. Can A&M get a top 10 class every year - I doubt that very much but a top 20 should be expected. I would say the same thing about Texas A&M coaches if they cannot have a top 25 recruiting class every year with what they have to offer then replace them as they are not performing.

At least you got the "Weak Ass Big XII" right. Please win more than 6 games before you and your coach claim the next NC. Take TCU and Baylor out what you have left last year?
