  1. Congrats to Virginia - hard to root against a team that has not won it all since 1955 (before I was born) against a team that won it just last year.
  2. Now Mack you are just nitpicking - it is not what players actually make it into the school it is the ones that give the school the best ranking the day after the signing class is announced and the rankings are made in February. So what that 13% of the recruiting class did not - for one reason are another - make it into that school. Face it if this had happened to A&M's recruiting class some (TxHoops, GCMPats2, Bulldogbacker and Mr. Garrett just to name a few) would be screaming at the top of their voices that was PROOF that the A&M program in general and coach Sumlin in particular were imploding. GCMPats2 - please enlighten me is how 7th place in a 10 team league (and congrats you beat out Kansas, Iowa State and TT) is better than 8th (tied) place in a 14 team league - no no there is no need to answer as I already know the correct answer. Keep poking fun of A&M's standing in its conference and keep ignoring Texas standing in theirs. The correct answer is both teams were not very impressive last year - Texas being just less impressive.
  3. Why argue with all the anti-A&M crowd - you could show thousands of gorgeous gals from A&M (and they are indeed there) and they would make some comment about that. Fact is A&M has has plenty of very good looking co-eds regardless of what THEY say. And GCMPats2 - with you on the Texas State being a great university - would not hesitate to send anyone I know there - one of the best places in Texas to get a degree. I would not have said the same when I was attending SFA as Southwest Texas State was a known party school at that time - from what I hear still not a bad place to party just a lot better on the academic side now.
  4. So you think you are unique? I have been an Aggie fan since childhood - mainly as most if not all my family were Aggie's. My brother on the other hand did go to Texas and I have tried to root for both teams due to that - but the constant ridicule from Texas fans - well makes that really really hard. Yes Texas has the storied history - but lately A&M has narrowed the gap greatly and Texas fans give no credit at all. And it may surprise you that I have picked the opening game with Zona as a toss-up as A&M will be dependent on too many youngsters on he defensive side of the ball - will have to see how they perform. But yeah I guess that makes me a SEC homer - Would rather be one of those than and anti-Aggie homer that they are abundant on this site.
  5. Agreed and also from what I have heard a pretty darn good man as well.
  6. All I stated was that it was your AD that first took the childish attitude of "I will take my ball and go home if you don't play by my rules". Then I do believe that the SEC did A&M no favors by not letting the teams play this year. Fact is I believe that neither university really is pushing to play the other at this time - they both have too much to lose if the games went against them. It will happen but I do not sense a GREAT PUSH from either program to make it happen NOW.
  7. Quick History Lesson - Your (Texas's) daddy said no first but that is easy to forget is it not. Deloss Dodds stated that they did not want to play A&M again - Just a few quotes "We (Texas) gets to decide when we play again", "Could (the game) but on Texas's terms" and "We don't want to play Texas A&M at this time" and more recently your current AD stated "We are booked until 2027" and cannot play Texas A&M. But from Texas fans it is only A&M that won' schedule the game - Sorry fact is Texas ain't exactly coming in with open arms to get the game going again. But Texas and Texas A&M coaches have stated that they want to play every year. But both Administrations are throwing up roadblocks. Will it happen - very likely but I do not see it happening in he next year or two.
  8. Truly hate to see Terrance Jones leave - think once totally healed could have been a better player than he showed this year.
  9. If I had to pick a wildcard - Cal State Fullerton
  10. To me the most interesting part of the article was the popular classes with the athletes - examples: Children's Literature and Documentary Film Inquiry are classic. All Universities do this and they wonder why they are getting a bad rap on how they treat and abuse the "student athlete" cause after they "graduate" they are seriously unprepared for the working world - other than to say "do you want fries with that" - due to the fact that the university does not care after they either use up their eligibility or leave the school for whatever reasons. They need to make sure while they are there that they are getting a bang for their educational buck since they bring millions into some universities. That being said - the student athlete also has the responsibility to make the most of the education that is offered while attending a university not take drivel classes.
  11. Something must be wrong with my computer then. The quote that got me was - "Man. Aggies fall short again. Too funny." On my computer it states that quote was made by GCMPats and that is not accurate then I apologize to all concerned. And no I do not believe that I am a "SEC" homer and hope that TCU or LSU wins it all - reason that I put LSU know a friend whose son is on that team.
  12. And baddog my post was not directed at you anyway - it was directed at GCMPats2 I have no issue with your post - sorry for the confusion.
  13. Man you and I definitely have a different opinion of "being nice" - making fun of a school with a sm****ss "too funny" statement is not in my book being nice. And you might want to check the obsession noted statement at the door as this is a topic about Super Regional's which Texas was not a part of and you started this conversation by posted an Anti- Aggie comment so who has the obsession me or you - I think it is you.
  14. Guess that is still better than falling 1 short in the Regular Regional - Oh well
  15. 3 Years now and has always been better than 6-7 - you're right business as usual.
  16. You miss the point - they won the recruiting war even if none of them ever hit the playing field.
  17. Must say it appears that I am having to eat crow as I thought that they would be cellar dwellers again - Go Stro's.
  18. On a lighter note I believe as some of you do that a athlete many times attends a school not for the school but for the coach - so I also feel that student athletes should also be allowed to change schools if the coach leaves. If the payment of athletes does come into place my opinion on that will change as well - they then become (for lack of a better word) employees if that university then movement should then be restricted. Until then the NCAA should allow most transfers and allow young men to change their commitments if the university has a coaching change.
  19. (Shaking Head) You other Aggie's just do not understand - Charlie would never ask a Coach (Wink) to stay till after signing day to keep on the fence recruits from flipping so he OBVIOUSLY did not know that "that" coach was leaving till after signing day was over - how could he have .
  20. Will be interesting to see if this really happens. But Is Business Insider as "Aggie Publication"? or maybe just an "Aggie slant" article. I just thought it was interesting reading. From Business Insider: Texas A&M University raised $740 million last year according to DallasNews.com. The amount breaks the record set by Wisconsin in 2005 ($595 million) and could help the school's athletic department surpass Texas as the richest in college sports. It is unclear at this point how much of the $740 million was given specifically for sports. But according to the school president, more than one-third ($246 million) was donated specifically to cover the costs of the $450 million renovations to the school's football field. The president also cited the recent success of the football team, as a big factor in the donation surge. The donations for the football field alone would be more than $200 million greater than the total athletic department donations in 2011-12 ($35.0 million). Texas was the biggest money-maker in college sports that year, taking in $163.3 million in revenues. Texas A&M was sixth overall, with $119.7 million in revenue. We'll have to wait to see how the donations are divided up. But it is easy to imagine that A&M will surpass Texas as the biggest money-maker in college sports...
  21. You're "quote" unbiased" database shows the same numbers that the originally quoted report does - the only difference is that your database does not net the Total Revenue and the Total Expenses as good bull hunting does. You say blue I say red - both articles have legitimate assumptions and the use the same numbers so how is one "biased" and the other NOT? Fact: Texas has the 2nd largest Total Revenue shown Fact: Texas was the leader in Total Expenses Fact: Texas was Number 16 on Net Revenue These facts are neither good or bad by themselves - Texas should still be proud to make the most - by a lot - of almost any major college in the country - they just spend it and that is the reason that they have the best facilities in the country and can pay their assistant coaches the same as many college head coaches make. They should be proud of that fact. The fact that the net is better for the Aggie's than the Horns is a bright spot for the Aggie program which has struggled financially in the past. You opted to "focus" on the Revenue side since that showed favorably on the Texas program but you blast and Aggie fan for focusing on the bright spot for the Aggie's - called bias and it is always their for you, me and everybody.
  22. Oooops - Sorry my bad
  23. Texas does appear to have received a good draw and I think they have a good chance of getting back into the CWS as well. Just think that if Texas call pull the miracle it will solidify Augie's name in the history books - Hell I think winning the Big 12 tournament was a HUGE step.
  24. Can Big time college football get any crazier? I think I am going to sue my boss over control of his company - wish me luck
