  1. Firs sentence tells me he is an apologist for Texas.   So the Longhorns haven’t been relevant since 2009. Big deal.    I guess six years just really ain't that long in the big picture.     And to remind you you - Baylor and TCU currently run this state (until unseated) - as my mom used to say both A&M and Texas have some work to do.
  2. Final game of the season might have just sent them to the NIT - hope not - but we will see.
  3. If this is true and Texas passed on Briles - for any reason - could be the worst mistake Texas has made in a long time.  Strong was not a bad choice but you put Briles with what he can do with 3 star recruits and give him the recruits that Texas will have regardless of who is the coach - you might have had that Texas dynasty back a lot sooner than even Texas fans think was possible.
  4. Both Chavis' lawyer, Bill Youngkin, and Texas A&M made it clear that there is no dispute between Chavis and the Aggies.   “The University stands behind its commitment to Coach Chavis to pay any buyout due to LSU. The issue is that Texas A&M disagrees with LSU that any buyout payment is actually due.”   You must read all he information and not just pull the parts that you think put Texas A&M in a bad light.
  5. Sorry - you are right about the order of the league and won might have been the wrong word to use as tied for the conference championship would have been more accurate - but if you look at the standings there were 5 teams all tied at the top with 6 - 2 conference records - that still puts them tied for first.   Texas A&M  6 - 2    9 - 4 Nebraska     6 - 2    10 - 4 Missouri       6 - 2    10 - 3 Oklahoma    6 - 2    12 - 2 Okie State    6 - 2    11 - 2    The last time Texas was 1st place or even tied for 1st place - was 2009 that is still before 2010 so overall my statement still stands as accurate.
  6. Again-A&M likes using the recent past and then refers to the late 1980's and the 1990's while Texas loves to throw out the 1939. And their long history of dominance that they rightfully refer too.   But the fact is that A&M over the last 4 - 5  years has been a better program than Texas - that is the recent past.  And just a little fact - A&M won the last conference championship when they were both n the same conference with Texas - 2010 Texas A&M 1st and Texas was 6th in the South.   Since A&M went to the SEC it has enjoyed much more success than - say - Texas.  The fact that they have finished no higher than 3rd and no higher than 5th in the nation is still much better than Texas has done over the same period.
  7. This is a non-issue - with a Texas fan trying again to make waves.   If you watch the video it stated very clearly that A&M in its contract with Chavis agreed to pay LSU the amount if it is owed - this lawsuit is for the benefit of A&M as if it is found that LSU is not owed money all it does it save A&M $400,000.00.   The fact that it is a College Station attorney kinda gives it away - all Chavis is doing is filing the suit for the benefit of A&M.
  8. 12 Non-conference games listed and you pick the one respectable team and miss the point the 11 of the 12 for the next 5 years are patsies - I thought that Texas A&M scheduling Ball State, Nevada and UTSA over the next few years was weak - but at least the scheduled UCLA (2x), Oregon (2x) and Arizona State during the same 5 year period.
  9. Lebron should understand this - as long as he is the player that he is and he has a son (regardless of the talent level of his son - even though it appears that he has talent as well) all coaches will want the LeBron name associated with their program if possible.  I agree with Buddy G that LeBron did not start this but he should be aware that it could and likely would happen - and if he wanted to he could put an immediate stop to this if he wanted to all he has to say is "leave me and my child alone and if your persist he will NOT consider attending your school".  Over and done.   That being said the NCAA with all its rules and regulations should address this issue and set a age or classification age for any student to be "recruited" - should be not earlier than Freshman or Soph. in High School - this recruiting of young children has to stop - does anyone really think that scholarship offer made to that 10 - 11 - 12 year old will be 100% honored if it is not in the schools best interest at the time that student is ready for his prize - No way - Hell it is not really likely that the head coach will still be there at that time.
  10. Yeah on the surface this ruling suks - Silas appears to be taking the high road - I wish him all the best.
  11. Will be interesting -  think that they have a good chance of an undefeated season - would be a great feat for that program.
  12. If they stay home I would be very surprised to see Barnes at the helm next year - Texas BB has been under performing for the last few years with the players that they have had - Texas won't stand for that long.
  13. Who know at this point - if baseball throws around ridiculous money at him he will be gone - I think that he will be a two sport player at Texas A&M at this time.
  14. A&M got their QB this year - this is Texas just trying to catch up at the QB position.   Good catch fort he Horns however.
  15. I tend to like not allowing freshman to be eligible - think it would be in the best interest of all college athletes (students) to not have the pressure and time required of today's student athletes during their first year in school (boy do I live in a dream world )   But this will never happen as it would put the Big10 and whatever other conferences that adopt that policy are putting themselves at a serious recruiting disadvantage.
  16. Let me state that I am not proclaiming his innocence - just that as TxHoops pointed out most of the evidence seems to protect him more than indict him.  As to the entitled behavior there is no doubt that on all college campuses that most college athletes think that they are above the law.   But in this case as well as many others - the fact that the police and the school failed to actively follow up and check evidence appears to provide the argument for a "cover-up" that only makes what might just be an innocent man appear guilty to the average onlooker - hell I was one early on that stated that I thought he was guilty but my position has softened as more information has emerged.     Would it surprise me to find out in the future that he was at least in some way guilty - Not really.  But he was crucified in the media and tried in the court or public opinion - you can't win that type of trial ever.
  17. The truth is that if school and police officials had done a proper investigation it is quite likely this would have been water under the bridge - but since they dropped the ball (no pun intended) it left Winston out to dry to have to deal with the "implications" of the charge and not so much of the facts in the case.  Appears to me they might have done Winston a major disservice instead of helping him.
  18. If they can manage to upset Arkansas I think they will be a lock for the field of 64.
  19. Another big win today for the Aggie's to become an NCAA Tournament team - Let's get behind them Ag's.  :)
  20. Bad time to be having arm issues.
  21. Ouch - but a good one  :P
  22. Going back awhile are we  ;)   But if you want to poke - Texas was put on 2 year's probation about that same time (football violations) - I recall something about throwing stones in glass houses
  23. I tend to agree  :)   But someone once said to me - I believe in regard to JFF - that when you sleep with the dogs expect to get fleas - or something like that  :D
  24. Kinda ignoring the violations at that big 12 school WVU ain't we  :D   Only in 14 sports so definitely NOT widespread there was it???
  25. Fine with me I'm out.
