You do make one good point that also begs the question - did the recruits come to Texas due to Strong on the Texas reputation.  I knew Texas would get its fair share of recruits just due to the allure of the Longhorn fame - but whether you like to admit it or not over the last few year Texas has not gotten all the good recruits like it used too.  The gap has narrowed greatly and A&M, Baylor and TCU (and others) are in fact getting recruits that they would not have had a chance at 5 years ago - that is likely not going to change.

Fact is on recruiting for 2015 - both teams appear to have gotten a lot of help that they both will need to become top tier programs again.   The final decision may well be split decision as of right now Texas is reported to have the better class on Scout and 247Sports - and the Aggie's on Rivals.  Strong and Sumlin appear to have ended the process with a bang - great for both teams.   But I keep hearing that Strong is a much better coach than Sumlin as well as others (Stoops) but can anyone really say that when he is 43-23 most of the wins is a sub-par AAC/Big East that has several easy wins in conference play - and remember I have stated that I think that Strong will be good for Texas - but by and large the jury is still out.  I  think the Big 12 will be a much harder challenge than the AAC/Big East was.   But Strong appears to have done his best work at Texas this year during the recruiting process - My only wonder is why he was not able to lure a top tier QB recruit or transfer into the fold - might be a problem for Texas in 2016 if the QB position still is an issue.

Sorry but Texas fans can sing the praises of coach Strong - but until he puts up better than a 6-7 (at Texas) record it is like whistling in the wind - means nothing.   That said - congrats to Texas on a good recruiting year.

If A&M makes the cut will be a good year for A&M basketball - regardless of how they fair in the tourney. 

I always go with my gut - and I was right with Jefferson - and I think that the Mack decision is far from final - hope he is an Aggie just due to his talent - but he may just turn out the be a Drama King as well (not so good).

I agree on Mack will not be 100% until the fax is received  :) Still think he can go Texas - A&M - or even TCU

It appears that the final class rankings may well rest at the feet of Daylon Mack - if he chooses Texas then Texas wins the 2015 recruiting wars - If he chooses A&M the same could be said.   Either way both teams appear to be heading for very good recruiting classes - Texas just needs a QB - they better hope Locksley signs.

No I actually did the research.   Caused me to learn 2 things (1) to remember just how dominate the Horn program has been over the years; and (2) be surprised of the fact that Texas has had so few losing seasons.  Know I understand the fact that Texas fans are in denial since they just cannot wrap their mind on having a losing season or seasons or being in the same stratosphere as the Aggie's. :P   It gave me a new perspective on the pain and suffering that Horn fans must be going through.  ;)

Again to "Rule this State" you have to win on the field - Texas 6-7 record does not allow them to make that claim.  You can recruit the best but if they do not perform on the field then you are still just average - right now based on the recent past both Texas and A&M are in the average area - just A&M a little higher at the moment.   Quite frankly A&M should quite using it as well until they compete at a level equal to TCU and Baylor.

Could ask the same question about Coach Strong - Answer is for both instances is replace them and move forward.

Good win for Texas for these two.

Quite frankly I am tired of the old and worn decline in win argument from you and other Texas fans.   But if that is the case then the following holds true as well:   Texas 2014     6 - 7 2013     8 - 5 2012     9 - 4   So I guess Texas must be on a continuing decline as well - and ain't it funny that then new high dollar coach has a year with one some of the most losses in Texas history (7) (only 5 times since since 1836 has a Texas team lost 7 or more games) with the most losses being the 9 loss team in 1956 - but yet he is crowned the savior.     And don't come back with the cupboard was bare argument as it is a lie  ;)

So now that Texas SOS is weak - then SOS makes no difference - sounds to me like a typical Texas fan argument.   ;)

I guess you get your optimism from the 10-15 (2-14 SEC) record since Bret took over - And if I remember right you stated that same thing this year - and you can still state that the "Lipstick on a Pig" quote is about A&M with a straight face  - just maybe you might want to look in the mirror.

Yeah - we can always believe an ex-Texas alumni to not be biased - Right  :)   While I will be very surprised if Strong gets all the recruits that this non-biased expert expects - If he does it will be a major off the field victory for Strong and Texas.  And make me and other A&M fans listen to the boosts of prowess from Texas fans until football season.   If Strong does pull this off - will he be able to match the high from the great recruiting year on the field - my opinion is Not Likely.   But the fact of what Strong has already done this year and what he might still be able to do is impressive - No my question is can Sumlin or Strong close the recruiting season with a bang - can't wait till next week.

If Strong pulls off the three peat of Mack, Murray and and Boyd - this would be a major coup for Strong.   But might also be a curse as the expectations for Texas in 2015 would be immediately greatly increased - would Texas fans accept another 6-7 or even a 8-5 year after that?  Would Texas be that much better in 2015 with that great recruiting class - as most freshman have and adjustment period?  Time will tell.

I will say that IF all that is true - then all it proves is that Coach Strong is just like ALL other coaches and will do anything to get the edge on a recruit.   And Mack will go to wherever has the best recruiting class he thinks is going to be rated the highest.

This is my opinion:   1. Anyone that thinks that Texas will not be back at some point is wrong: 2. Any Texas fan that thinks that Texas will be the "God Figure" in National and even Texas football is also just as wrong;   I have stated before that Texas is still the premier school both academically and athletically as well but Texas A&M, Baylor, TCU and others have seriously narrowed the gap in facilities, stadiums and overall attractiveness of their programs.  Not that long ago Texas was the only school in Texas with top notch facilities and staff - now almost all the major schools have.  Also, not that long ago Texas was the only State of Texas school that was on TV every weekend - you never had to miss a game - now Texas A&M has every game televised - that is a big equalizing factor.   And while Texas fans do not like too - and never will - admit that the SEC move by the Aggie's was a major plus on their side (it was and will be for the foreseeable future).    So while I do think that Texas will be back - I also doubt seriously if they will be able to command that Great State of Texas the way they once did year in and year out.   Some fans will have to accept that the playing field has been leveled and I do not think that it is going to tip in Texas's favor only for a long time.

Looks like the Big 12 needs Texas to get back on that Horse and lead  :)
