  1. Wait - changing attitudes again - to quote Texas fans from last year - A win is a win regardless of how close the game may be or More importantly how good the opponent may be.  So "taking a good team to the wire" makes no difference- or have we again changed the rules since we are not longer talking about A&M :P .
  2. 4 Star Rivals or 5 Star on Scout.com - little difference as he is now gone (but may be back).  I just think he wants to have some free trips to several new cities in the future.  Party a little on someone else's money while they wine and dine you for your services  :)
  3. Don't know the answer to that - but the player that I know on the team told me that he and Hill get along very well and that he is happy - does that lead to him staying who knows.  But I think that at this time he MAY see Hill leaving early and still having 2 years (3 if redshirted) to play.  The wild card may well be Murray.
  4. Hate to lose a 5 Star prospect - but at least it is at a position that need is low.
  5. I think from what I have heard is that he is happy at A&M - I think he may surprise people and stay.  We will have to wait and see.
  6. Truly hate to hear this - looks like the Texas program is doing the right thing as well - kudos to Strong and Patterson.
  7. I'm going with Clemson with the upset - even if the famous guy would be at the helm all game.   Clemson 31 FSU 30
  8. For full disclosure - had a son graduate from Texas A&M and my daughter (previously mentioned) graduated from Lamar.
  9. Yes - Raised as an Aggie in an Aggie family but was the black sheep of the family as I did graduate from SFA.  But also had a sister graduate from Texas Tech - a brother graduate from Texas and another brother graduate from Texas A&M (Corp of Cadet as well).  So I come from a very diverse background when talking colleges  :D
  10. I do not see the situation at Lamar getting any better any time in the near future.   This is the problem with Lamar - Lamar does not have a lot of students that buy into the school the way other schools do.  When you go to Texas, Texas A&M, Sam Houston State, Stephen F Austin and most other schools you move to or near the campus and participate in the area activities many or most of which directly relate to the school - like the athletic programs.  A lot - and I think most - of the students at Lamar commute from their hometowns to attend - my daughter graduated from Lamar in December of 2013 and lived in Liberty the whole time she attended Lamar - I know many other students that did the same thing from many of the surrounding area towns.  Therefore, they do not become "sold" or "invested" in the school like students at Texas and A&M (and others) do.  I went to the college several times and was surprised  at the number of student vehicles that either did not have a Lamar sticker or had stickers from Texas, Texas A&M and other colleges on their vehicles.  Go to Austin or College Station and look a vehicles on campus and you will see virtually every vehicle will have a sticker for Texas or A&M - this is a loyalty question - loyalty leads to attendance at school functions that includes athletic events.   I went to SFA and we were called a suitcase college as a ton of students left every weekend to go home or to other colleges rather than stay in Nacogdoches, Texas.  Lamar's problem I believe is even deeper as the students never really buy into the school they are there because - in a lot of cases - they have limited other options due to (1) having to work, (2) parents cannot afford to pay rent for them to attend college away from home or (3) Married with children and the close major college is the best answer.
  11. Sorry - but you kill a program for 21 years and then try and restart from scratch this is the net result - years of struggling and low attendance and support.   It will take years to bring this program back from the dead.  Sorry but they need to hire a coach that is used to rebuilding programs and give him 5 - 8 years to get the best players that he can and start by getting a few wins a year and hope - and I mean hope that bigger and better players like what they see.
  12. Would love to see at least 1/2 of this come to pass (A&M) but this needs to be put into the Way To Early category.   While I like what I see so far from the Aggie's they still have a very tough schedule left to play this year and the defense while greatly improved still shows signs of some weaknesses.  I think that A&M is going to surpass everyone's preseason expectations but let's hold the Were No. 1 in the SEC chatter till they earn it.
  13. I have not heard that one yet.  Truthfully was just kind of watching the game in the 4th quarter - might have happened.  But if he had you would think the running up the score posters would be killing A&M right now.
  14. Good to have the support of the AD - However, I think that Strong has a pass this year due to the overall situation - But I do not think for an instant that if the recruiting does not pick up and next year the team struggles as well (this is based on the assumption that this turns out to be a long year for the Horns) Strong may just not get to the three year mark.  Texas and its fans expectations are much larger than most colleges.
  15. Now you may be understanding why some of us Aggie's - and I am talking about me in general - get thin skinned when the current Aggie teams and coaches are being trashed by some.  I like Roper84 have set through many a game and many a season where you had to wonder "would it get any better".   I agree - Texas will be back.  My hope is that Texas and Texas A&M can find and stay on the high road and we can see  these "discussion" about our teams as each is looking for and expected to compete for the NC year in and year out.
  16. Yeah I normally do (at work) but for some reason my home computer does not post the quote - must be in the settings - and I am by not means a computer guru.  Will work on that in the future.
  17. Baddog - this is a thread about Texas quit bringing A&M into it - (sorry just had too)  :D
  18. Baddog - was replying to a Texas fan post referring to Kyle Filed - maybe you should give them a hard time for mentioning A&M - Ahhh - I remember now they are Texas fans and can do no wrong B)
  19. Ducks are good would hate to face them  this year.
  20. But is the loss Coach Strongs Fault?   I taped the game and watched it again this AM.  Terrible offensive and defensive game plans.  And the halftime adjustments whatever they were made the 2nd half worse - he was seriously out coached by the unknown BYU coach.   He and his staff had a whole week to prepare an offense with what I and most other people thought was a run first pass second QB - he tried to run a pass happy offense with a QB that could run and it backfired - poor planning.  That could be a sign of the fact that he has only faced 3 top 25 teams in his 3 years at Louisville - could show he needs to work on the week in and week out tougher teams he will face coaching at Texas.   Akso, What happened to that Texas defense - I thought they would keep Texas in the game but they kjnda sucked as well.   This could be a long year for Texas if Strong can't right the ship and fast.
  21. Looks like Kyle Field.   A&M fans had to wait for 2 hours + for  the Kick Off and the stands were still full - FOR LAMAR.  How many Texas fans would have stayed for that long - I think not near as many.
  22. Might have to reconsider my 9 win prediction.
  23. June Jones may be done at SMU after this year.
  24. In Liberty on Comcast channel 114
  25. SEC - SEC - SEC   Close games that really should not be:   Tennesse 31 Ark State 19   UAB 17 Miss State 19
