  1. What did some Aggie dump you a few years ago, did an Aggie spit in your cereal or did they deny your admittance to their school - There has to be some salt in the wound somewhere to have that much animosity against a school like your have.
  2. Good one - Texas won A game that meant something!
  3. That's not a critique that's a statement and an opinion!  And an opinion not currently held by most in the know.
  4. Do not know when PhatMack19 was born - but since I graduated High School in 1974 (and really cared about the record) the record is 19 wins and 19 losses - not much of the annual beat down since that time.  You want to go back then yes before that date Texas ruled the playing field between the 2 schools - I will admit that - not that it matters to me.       As always you will state that I choose an arbitrary date and that Texas ruled before that date - no argument here - Texas did rule the games in the ancient times no doubt - but us Aggie's like to live more in the current time as (1) it serves our arguments better; (2) it is in a time that that playing field has leveled out in the state between all teams; and (3) I do not have to research the archives to get my facts.
  5. As always you failed to address the question asked - what if the new savior flops and A&M has more wins (again) then Texas - What will you say then was the question?   And Baylor will have more wins than Texas and A&M more than likely - Baylor has become he class of the Big 12.
  6. What will you say if they don't?
  7.   When the shoe fits you gotta wear it.   Texas CHOOSE to play in the mediocre Big 12 - A&M CHOOSE to play in the SEC (the best conference in the NCAA) - live with your teams choices.   You Texas fans seem to be upset at the SEC - stating that you should should support your team not your conference.  Texas A&M is and has been now for the last 2 -3 years a better program than the mighty Texas Longhorns and Texas fans point out that A&M was 7th in their division - fact is that they were but WERE STILL BETTER THAN TEXAS!   I still am not saying that Texas will have more wins than A&M - will make that decision after the SC game.
  8. I agree If he fails in Cleveland he may not get another chance.  We will see just haw mature he is now.
  9. Until he wins games and at Texas lots of games he is just another push-up doing head coach.   When he wins his first game against a ranked team - and he will (but will it be this year?) - then you can start signing his praises.
  10. But still sticking with my 9-3 prediction for Texas Chuckie (your name) will still pull at least one upset and win the games he should.
  11. I can actually see that happening.  If A&M's defense does not improve dramatically it could be a long season.   Difference is Big 12 - this year (in conference) they play Kansas (3-9), Iowa State (3-9), WVU (4-8) and TCU (4-8).     While A&M plays in conference only one team with a losing record - Arkansas (3-9) - all other 2014 conference foes had winning records with most being ranked.  A&M will face more ranked teams in conference than Texas will face all year - including their bowl game.  Even when you take the cupcakes that A&M has in non-conference their schedule is much tougher than the Longhorn schedule.   That was a choice that A&M made when it decided to move to the SEC - you take the rewards along with the lumps that go with that.  I still believe that in the long run it will benefit the Aggie's much better than if they had stayed in the Big 12 - and will make the State of Texas a much more level playing field than it has been in the past - Lets admit it Texas has ruled the State for a long time just today not so much as it was.
  12. Recent - having happened, begun, or been done not long ago or not long before; belonging to a past period of time comparatively close to the present.   So yes 20 - 6 with two top 20 finishes (one in the top 5) in the last 2 years while playing in the best and toughest conference in the country - I believe is not that bad.   While Texas A&M has not had the storied history that Texas has had we can enjoy things while they are going well.
  13. You will think I am crazy - but Oklahoma State will upset FSU.
  14. Looks like College athletes are going to be able to do a lot of things that are not allowed in today's NCAA - Times they are a-changing!
  15. That's good but then please work on your postings - you stated "finishes" - that actually means more than 1 year  :D
  16. Typical Texas vs. Texas A&M conversation.  Texas fans like to state ancient history while Texas A&M fans like to bask in their recent success.   Oh but of course you failed to mention the 1980's and 1990's when A&M won the same conference that Texas was in 9 times (almost half for those who have trouble giving A&M credit) and 2nd and 3rd place finishes 5 or 6 times.
  17. While middle of the pack finishes is not what any team wants - I would rather my team be middle to the pack in the best conference in the country (SEC) then where Texas has been - say the last 5 years - in the middle of the pack in an average conference.   Just an observation.
  18. I would and should have as well. But I really did know what it was saying - but it was an article that supported my position so I used it - kudos to you for researching it  ;)
  19. Ok I will try this again.   I hope Forbes will be good enough for you.   I am old and tried to link this but you can copy and paste this yourself to find he actual article.  While this article does not solely go on the academic strength of a school- it does rank:  Academic Success, Post Graduate Success, Graduation rate and Student Satisfaction.   [Hidden Content]   But again another major publication does not support your claim that Texas and the BIG 12 is a vastly superior conference than the SEC.  This is Forbes listing of the "Americas Top Colleges"   While neither the SEC or the Big 12 really have anything to crow about here are the rankings:   No. 54 - Vanderbilt No. 76 - Texas No. 87 - Florida No. 94 - Georgia No. 137 - Texas A&M No. 190 - LSU No. 195 - Baylor   Still looks like Forbes thinks the SEC is better than the Big 12.
  20. ^^^^  FOR FULL DISCLOSURE.   I do have to be fair and state that there were several academic rankings that had Texas much higher and better than the above ranking.   However, I did not see many other Big 12 schools ranked in those lists.
  21. I always heard this argument that the SEC has such low academic standards - so I found it interesting that Time Magazine ranked the College football top 25 - as ranked by academics.   SEC had six teams in the top 25 and the BIG 12 had just 3 - of the Big 12 schools they were ranked behind 5 SEC teams and only 2 managed to beat out the other SEC team.  Texas by the way was the lowest of the BIG 12 team ranked at No. 22.   SEC No. 7 - Alabama No. 10 - Georgia No. 11 - LSU No. 14 - Texas A&M No. 15 - Florida No. 19 - South Carolina   Big 12 No. 17 - Kansas State No. 18 - Oklahoma No. 22 - Texas   Kinda shots all kinda holes in that statement that Texas would not be in a low academic conference - as it appears they already are.   But I guess that Time Magazine has a SEC slant as well.
  22. Yeah too bad they are doing nothing with that title lately!
  23. And for the record - Self Regulation has never worked anywhere.
  24. This had been brewing for awhile the beginning of the end of college athletics as we know it.  This is not a good thing.  And I agree the small schools just got kicked in the teeth.  But many of the mid-majors will as well.
  25. Nobody said that Texas was not a "Player" still in the NCAA and should be taken seriously in any realignment or contraction and will be one of the main universities in that discussion.  But what Texas fans (some) will not admit or are scared to admit is that Texas A&M will also be in that discussion - maybe not at the same level as Texas but very close.   "I will give credit to the Aggie's for at least having the balls to break away being the Longhorns' step child and making a bold move (although they promptly assumed the role that Ole Miss and Miss St and other SEC programs play of vicariously claiming the victories of the power programs in the conference).  OU had a chance but couldn't quite break away and left that annoying little wagon hitched to the Longhorns."  Fact is that A&M left due to the fact that the Big 12 is Texas's conference - mostly run by them and most decisions made by them - the LHN was not the sole reason that Missouri, Colorado, Nebraska and Texas A&M left the Big 12 - it was the arrogance of Texas and its administration.  The LHN was just the straw that broke the camel's back - when Texas did try and leave the LHN was one of the main reasons it could not fine another home as other conferences would not allow it to happen.    Again I have stated over and over again that Texas will be back and I will state that Texas is still one of the power players in the country - but to a much less degree than they were 15 - 20 - 30 years ago.  The playing field is more level and getting even more so as other universities get more money and better facilities.
