Will see how long that lasts - Hoyer has not been know for his ability to put up game winning numbers so far in the NFL. But really I would like to see Manzeil sit as a back up for a year under a NFL coach to develop as I think it would do nothing but help him in the long run.
-
If he succeeds even a little will you ever admit it - I doubt it very seriously. Your dislike of A&M and JFF makes your constant anti Manziel post almost laughable. I have never seen anyone give a good player absolutely no credit the way you do. I have to admit I hope he succeeds a lot and early more that before just so I can troll you when he does :D

The great thing about the NFL is that he might not have been drafted here or Dallas - but that doe not mean he will not eventually play for one of those teams in the future

Leaked Manziel scouting report
OldTimer replied to HurricaneCal's topic in Professional Sports- NFL, NBA, MLB, Etc
Well that did not take long as now there are several reports that this was indeed a fake scouting report. Will continue to monitor and see if the report is true or not - we will see. Only part that really surprised me - if the report is true - is from what I have heard and read the players on the A&M team really liked JFF and many had called him a team leader - so again we will have to wait to see the outcome. -
Leaked Manziel scouting report

Interesting if true. And if true my opinion would lower a little of JFF. Will be watching the news intently to see if this is indeed a true report - I have my doubts - but readily admit that is due to my like of JFF and his ability as well as A&M in general. Waiting to see what the Patriots say about this report. -
Call them what you wish the only reason that I list the Big 12 as Big 12(10) is that after 2 years they would consider a name change or add 2 new schools.

I am glad that Ben Molena is going to get a shot - seemed like a decent kind of guy. -

Why the Hate of the SEC - ohhhhhh yeah the Aggie's are in the SEC - I got it now. -
I bow to your draft knowledge as you were right and I was wrong. I also wish he would have landed somewhere other than Cleveland.

4thintheweakBig12(10)!!!!!!!!!! So What?
-
I think that is yet to be determined - playing in the SEC, Big 12 (10) or any other major conference makes players play at a high level against top level opposition in at least 8 - 9 games a year - Buffalo did not have that kind of teams on its schedule. While it appears he may well be the real deal - will he be able to make the plays every down against NFL caliber position players? Players that play in the SEC, Big 12 (10) or other conferences have the same questions but have played week in and week out against top players Mack has not - so we will have to see.
-
The great thing about the draft is that the results (good or bad) of any draft may not be apparent for several years later. As always there will be surprises and Carr may well be one of them - I just hope he fairs better and has a better offensive line early in his career than his brother did.
-
Will have to back off a little now - as I did hear 2 experts that stated that the chance for JFF to drop out of the top 10 is about 40% - that means he has a chance to be available for the Cowboys at 16 - not likely - but even some experts are saying last minute jitters about his off field adventures might drop him. Still think it is unlikely. Can't wait till draft day to find out.
-
I guess I would like to know whom this "many" is as I as an A&M fan and a person hopeful that JFF gets drafted high read almost all the reports on his Pro Day and with the notable exception of the (I believe) Minnesota Head Coach - almost to a man the experts stated that it did nothing but help his draft stock.

Predictions for 2014 season.
OldTimer replied to AledoBearcatsCO2014's topic in College Sports Forum
You may be right about Sumlin at this time while I like him I have questions myself - he has had a rash of player issues this year and not that many in the past at Houston or at A&M (except JFF which was not really issues except 1 it was him just not keeping his twitter feed off) so is it his management style of just a run of questionable actions by a few players - time will tell. As far as win loss he is 20-6 at A&M in the SEC - not a bad start. He was 35-17 while at Houston - in a much weaker conference - but that still gives him a 55-23 record which is not bad at all. How will the rigors of the SEC play into his legacy we will see - it will be rough at times I assume. -

Jury is still out on that one. He was 11-2 at A&M with the Heisman Trophy winner at QB. He had a good run at Houston as a position coach but had Keenum - another really good college QB - and and weak league. Do I think he is a good coach and will be a good coach - you bet. But best in Texas - I think Briles, Sumlin and Strong might have a say in that - and Patterson at TCU has not been a slouch either. His main problem may well be Lubbock, Texas - it is way out there. -
That is just wrong - Quite likely also it appears very correct ;)

Donald Sterling
OldTimer replied to Peppermint Patty's topic in Professional Sports- NFL, NBA, MLB, Etc
I tend to agree with you - but that is about our current society in general - what we are talking today is the NBA. But the same thing can be said about all professional leagues and further all people. But you have to be fair about what is punished (in society as well as the NCAA, NBA, NFL, etc..) - if you punish one race or group of people grouped together by another basis (women, gays, etc..) for "offensive" comments then you need to punish all races for "offensive" comments - that is just what is right. We can always argue if racist speech is worse than say murder, rape, theft etc... because at the current time the NBA (and other leagues) seems to have turned a blind eye to all of these issues it appears IF the athlete (and in some cases owners) charged is good. -

What he said - taken in context - is totally unacceptable. But with that being stated - there have been a lot of "unacceptable" comments and actions from players, coaches majority owners and minority owners (and I mean in this case owners with a fractional interest in a franchise) that have been worse or equally offensive and no action was taken - that needs to change as well. This action will not clean up a league that through the years needs a lot of soap. ;) -
However, I do agree with you that all Dallas does not need is a QB controversy - with the way Romo struggles (often) and the way that a lot of Dallas fans are very impatient this could set Dallas up for an interesting year and foil any plans to let JFF develop over a year or two. While I am not a Romo or Dallas fan at he moment - this would not be fair to Romo if that indeed did happen.
-
Almost none if any of the experts seem to agree with your assessment (in fact I found none that picked him outside the top 10 - but I only searched the 7 most recent reports you may have a better source) - most I have seen or heard put him between the 3rd and 6th overall pick and most experts are talking like he will be the first QB off the board.
-
Think it could make a big impact on his decision. If Allen has a good to decent year Kyle Murray may well leave for other pastures.
-
I agree Dallas has some issues that need addressing - but you must remember who you GM, Head Coach, All Position Coaches and Owner (all rolled into one is) if he wants JFF what makes sense does not matter.
-
When I first saw this topic It thought "How Crazy" but now it appears that Dallas has a serious interest in JFF and per the article I saw today will do whatever it takes to get him. I think it is still a long shot as I do not believe that JFF will be around at pick 16 (from all indications) - will Dallas trade up to get him - that would be interesting. Romo will be there for a few years maybe that would be a help to JFF in the long run? Would not mind seeing him in the Dallas star - even though I am not a Dallas fan - might have to change my thinking on that issue if this happens.
