  1. Yes JFF does prove the point that 3 star players can shine - there are also numerous other 3 star players that have doe the same.  However, the goal of every athletic program is to get the best recruits possible and that normally means 4 and 5 stars.  The hypocrisy is that just not too long ago Texas and its fans bragged about all the five star recruits they got and would always get.  Just now when they seem to be struggling getting the same results they now state that 3 star recruits are the BOMB!   I agree with you that I will gladly take all 3 star recruits if that lead to championships - but if history has proven anything the teams that have a good coach and recruit well (high star ratings) are normally the teams that compete for championships year in and year out.   I am not a newcomer to this process - Texas will be back and when is the only question.  But A&M at this time and I see in the future will be a player as to how many of the best recruits Texas will get.
  2. And a lot of other programs players as well.  A&M players appear to have drinking problems more that drugs - but hey who really knows.
  3. I agree!
  4. Wait - your not supposed to point that hypocrisy out man!  Now 3 Star recruits are better than 4 and 5 star recruits because Texas gets them.  ;)
  5. I really think the Texans will take him.
  6. Whats the latest word on the Max Wittek kid is he still coming to Texas or has he still not made up his mind?
  7. Could this be a blessing in disguise for Texas as now Swoopes might be able to show what he has to offer without the QB controversy starting.
  8. If it was just that easy  :P a lot is us might just get paid- but I just can't throw a football accurately enough
  9. Not Likely.  While this will not sit well with SEC haters - any team that does not have to go through the rigors of the SEC (specially in 2013) knows that they do not have the same hurdles in place to make the post season much less the NC game that teams from the SEC face..
  10. Baddog - I will have to agree with you that if you goal is the NC then 4 losses is a bad season if you agree then that means that Texas has sucked as well over the last several years even worse than A&M.   Difference is that while some Aggie's felt that with JFF the NC was in sight many of use realized that with the SEC - yes I mentioned the conference - that getting to the NC game is a long shot just to the conference grind you must face just to make the SEC title game much less the NC game.  I have only recently had fans post that the NC game will be in just a few years and those were not Aggie but Texas fans that have made that claim which with the current state of Texas football and the teams that they have to beat I must say sounds like a long shot at this time.
  11. Seems the new tradition of some Texas fans is to demean other football programs and their conferences until such time as they or their conference again mean anything on the national level - I can understand that - attack what you can since you have nothing to defend.
  12.   If Sucks = 9-4 in an elite conference so what does that make 8 - 5 in an average conference?   And A&M still finished as one of the top 25 teams in the country - I am sorry where was Texas on that list as I could not find them?  And does not Texas have the most $$$$$ of any athletic program in the country?  Why are they not the best team in the country year in and year out?   There is no doubt that me and a lot of  Aggie's have a chip on our shoulders when we have Texas posters making comments like A&M sucks when today - right now - A&M is considered the better overall football program.  Than might well change in he future and has not been that way much in he past but right now today that is a fact until Texas again proves they can win the big ones.
  13. In 2013 - all that means is that 7th in the SEC was better than 4th in he Big 12.  Which also means that the 8th place team in the SEC was better than the 4th place team in the Big 12.  I guess when 2/3rds of your conference end up in the top 25 that makes your conference "Top Loaded".    That speaks to strength of conference I guess.     You could say that Texas fans take pride in being in the top 1/2 of a conference that was lead by Oklahoma (I think Texas kinda don't like them) and Baylor (great turnaround).
  14. I stand corrected - do not remember that one  :D  - but will stand by that statement as I do believe that for the 2013 season.   I also agree that any slight of a school - and I have used some on occasion - is not in good taste as I really do believe that A&M and Texas are both quality schools.
  15. Gotta wonder where he will land.  I have often wondered and now more than ever what would this draft picture be like if he had not had the questionable off season after his Heisman Year.  He appears to have aced his draft test - every one - but some still question his maturity.  Had he had a better off season last year I think he would be the unquestioned 1st pick in this years draft.
  16. You might be right as I took this as a reference to the Kyle Field alone and might not have taken in the Big picture- who knows.
  17. Baddog you must have someone else's quote mixed up with mine as I do not remember stating anywhere or anything about the best 4th place team.   You might be ok as well but the ig's statements tells me otherwise - you insult all Aggie's with that statement alone and then expect to be taken seriously in you rants about A&M - lose the ig comments and you might find some better common ground here.   You might see some Aggie's disagreeing with you but I do not see many insulting Texas the way you are insulting Aggies.   Just my opinion.
  18. I am an A&M fan and I have to agree that I wonder about the motivation for this trademark.  JFF was a great player for A&M for 2 years - Kyle Field has been a monument at Texas A&M for a lot longer than JFF has been alive.  JFF did not make Kyle Field it is more likely that Kyle Field (or those crazy fans inside of it) made JFF.    I hope that the A&M athletic program bans the use of the trademarked name forever from being mentioned on the A&M campus - at least by the University officials.
  19. Texas fans seem to forget the Louisiana-Monroe, Texas El-Paso, Florida Atlantic, Rice and New Mexico powerhouses that Texas has scheduled over the last 4 - 5 years but state that only the SEC schools would dare do that.   And by the way they have North Texas scheduled for 2014.
  20. The fact is that the final verdict on Strong is still a long way from being settled.     But what he has not been able to do - that quite frankly most new "great" coaches to a new school are able to do (and Texas I would think would have been and even bigger boost) is the land several new "star" players on the recruiting board quickly.  Most new name coaches bring an immediate influx of interested recruits and it appears that Strong has not benefited from this surge.   Case and point Sumlin was able to make an immediate impact in the recruiting wars at Texas A&M - Strong has not been able to make the same impact so far it appears.   Will he catch up - Keep posted for breaking news - good or bad.
  21. So now when Texas schedules North Texas and UTEP that is ok - Also everybody knows that Texas has 2 patsies on their schedule every year in Kansas and Iowa State - so they have almost the same 3 guaranteed wins that A&M has scheduled just 2 of them are in the Big 12 (10)  - EVERY YEAR!
  22. Sorry - and I know that this will be considered bashing Coach Strong but how does his track record in recruiting stand on its own merit.  While Loiusville is not Texas his best recruiting class during his tenure at Louisville (2009 - 2013) was ranked at 33 (2011).  I could find no record of his being in the top 25 recruiting ever - now he should do better at Texas just because he is at Texas but his history does not yet reflect the ability to attract top 25 recruiting classes year in and year out.   Now he obviously was able to get the most of what he did recruit due to his W-L record but the Big 12 is a tougher conference then the Big East.  He also got the job on 2 back to back seasons that he went 23-3 which is notable - but the previous 2 season he was just 14 - 12 which is not that notable.     Sorry but he has yet to prove (A) can he compete in the recruiting wars with the Big Boys for the Big Players - and yes star ratings for High School players do not mean that much for some players in the long run (but it is generally a fact that the schools that win 10 - 12 games a year on a regular basis are almost always on the top of the recruiting boards so it must mean something) - and (B) can he get the same performance form his players at Texas that he got at Louisville in the tougher conference of the Big 12.   I have stated several times that I think that Strong will in the long run be a good hire for Texas but he does bring some concerns as well.  Like I like to say only time will tell.
  23. You would think that they would reevaluate him prior to letting everyone know that they have "pulled" the offer - all this will due is alienate this player for possible future consideration of the Texas program.
  24. I hope for Texas fans that he does have a plan as Jalen Campbell was 1 of only 2 4 star commits at this time for Texas.   Unless he has a way to reverse this it sounds like it may be a plan for a minor disaster.   Only time will tell.
  25. You could be right and if he is drafted high and flops there is no doubt that whomever drafts him will have egg on their face.     However, if you pass and he succeeds then you will also have egg on your face - possible lose lose situation.   Same could be said for all the big 3 - 4 but Manziel puts the Texans in a bad situation of he succeeds and their first pick does not simply because he is from their back yard.
