  1. Who says that MaxPreps is better or more accurate than Rivals - I don't think so myself. 8)
  2. It seems nobody noticed that Trey Williams was wearing an A&M hat during his post game interviews - kinda kills the rumors that he is leaving don't you think.
  3. I am sorry - but when a team is hands down the best team in the district this is going to happen.  And in 2011 Coldsprings was hands down the dominate team in the district - no other team really had a chance to beat them in 22AAA.  If you do not believe this you did not watch them play.  I watch all teams but Splendora play Liberty so I think I have a good measuring stick to make that statement by.  Are there other good players in this district - no doubt - but All District rewards players that performed on the field during the year and had the results to document that performance.  In my opinion CS deserves this if not more.
  4. When I said richest I meant they make more money $$$$$$$ then any other school on the country - well at least the top 3 - last time I checked.  I really  think that A&M does more (better overall program recently) with less ($$$$$).  And Team First you better hold onto that property cause when your wrong you may need a place to stay. I just think that it is funny how people think that A&M never was invited to the SEC - Hell it was verified by the president of OU right after it happened.
  5. It would be a mess if the Big 12 implodes.  On the LSU front – LSU was one of the schools that really did not want A&M in the SEC last time but was out voted.  The fact is that the SEC wants games in the state of Texas but really does not want Texas (the University) so that puts A&M in a strong position.  Why do they not want Texas – who knows – could be they know Texas likes to be control  ;D or they know that Texas has the richest athletic program in the country and they do not wish to compete with that ;).  But the fact is if the SEC can get games on Texas soil they will – period.
  6. I have been a Liberty fan for a long time and I do believe that they are improving their talent and competitive level.  I also believe that they have several players that could play for any team in the district.  But to crown them as the district favorite is - I think - a bit of a stretch if you look at the facts from last year. The 5 teams they beat last year had a total W-L record of 9 wins and 41 losses with most of the wins between themselves.  i.e. 4 of the wins of these teams were against Tarkington which was 1 and 9 and 3 of the wins were against Shepherd which was also 1 and 9 with their only win against Tarkington.  While Liberty did seem to get better toward the end of the year they lost their last two games by a combined 105 points (Coldsprings and WOS) they also lost to Huffman by 49 points.  In their losses to teams with winning records they lost by average of almost 42 points - pretty dismal numbers. While their 7 on 7 team did look pretty good 7 on 7 does not always transfer to winning on the full football field.  The games are just too different to make comparisons. I watched several games last year and I do believe that this year's team will improve on these numbers and will again challenge for a playoff spot.  But if I have looked and judged the talent correctly 2011 may not be their year - but 2012 will be the year that they may well challenge for the district title and be competitive in the play offs.  Watch the QB and Receiver combination as I think the next 2 years will be exciting watching them mature.  And Liberty will almost always have a good RB or two to carry the ball - the O-line and the D-line will be what makes or breaks their season(s).  My Prediction: Coldspring Huffman Liberty / Splendora Surprise team of the year: Watch Splendora they might surprise a few people. We will have to wait and see.
  7. Went to the game few days ago and this is my take.  Liberty has the same old problem - good players but not working as a team too many individual players to make it work.  This has historically been Liberty’s problem.  Two years ago they had a coach that had the team playing team ball - and they made the playoffs that year.  I really believe that the players this year are better than the ones on the playoff team - just don’t play team ball as well. But Liberty does have a young team so the future may be bright.  8)
  8. Yeah when you get my age and the kids have left the nest - boredom is a way of life  ;D
  9. Ok #1Stangfan - you just made an old man cry agian  :( - pulled out the old CD and watched the 2006 game agian. And dangit the outcome was the same - has not changed in all these years.  I stand corrected two of Earl's TD's were pass completions - in my defense one was a swing pass that was really no more that a lateral - but it was still a pass.  You are correct.
  10. Man lets not make it worse than it was - the final score was 60 - 0.  I have the Liberty game film the coach gave me and it is depressing as a Liberty fan to watch - Earl Thomas ran the opending kick off back for a touchdown and he played WR and RB during the game as well as defense.  He did have 4 touchdowns - but none receiving just running and the kickoff return.  He did not have many catches - cause they didn't need to pass.  But it seemed like he was in on every play on offense and defense - all we heard was Earl Thomas gained 10 yeards - Earl Thomas on the tackle - and Earl Thomas scores - made for a long night.  And the sad part is they had a lot of other good players as well.  The defense had the best team tackling  and speed that we had faced - well in my sons 3 years as a varsity starter. One of the most one sided games I have ever witnessed - and believe it or not Liberty really was not that bad - WOS just exposed the weaknesses that Liberty was able to cover all year.  Hell Liberty had a 5'10" 185 pound defensive tackle that lead the team in tackles - he was hurt the WOS game - but would have been shoved around all evening like the rest of the team was. It was sad that some good players from the Liberty side had to lose their final game that way.  But WOS was just good and I mean all around good.
  11. Does the 6'5" QB for Liberty play Basketball - I assume so - and is he any good.  I do not know and have not heard.  Did he play varsity as a freshmen and if so what were his stats. Just sounds like  talented  player that might help Liberty this season. And overall what does the Basketball team look like in Liberty = Good or Bad?
  12. I agree with Dreski - Liberty in 2 - 3 years might be really good - the soph. QB has had his moments and if he continues to improve they have 2 years with an experienced Qb at the Helm. The fact that he is 6'5" - I think that 6'7" is a stretch - but he is a tall one.  They also have several other young players that will also help over the next year or two.  Need to find a replacement for he RB - we will see who takes that challenge.  Also the JV and Fresnman have had good seasons - sll spells good things for the future.  Lets all hope that the get it together and make a deep run in the playoffs - say in a year or two.
  13. Also Beechnut I did not call you out - you called me out.  I also never said I was not proud of the Liberty team or its players - as always I think they did the most with what they had.  But the facts remain they have not played or competed well agianst quality teams - and I think a lot of that if due to toughness - or lack there of.  I never said anything bad about the caoch except the toughness part - and you then called me out by stating that my opinion is BS.  Take it as you wish but you seem kinda touchy. Pantherfan - thanks - son talks highly of you as well.
  14. Agian - never said he should be fired - just that this teams are not tough - physical - strong - use any term that you wish.  Also, just cause your a coach does not make you right about everything football related.  You must have an interest to be offended by me calling the Liberty team not tough.  If they play this week better than they have agianst any team WITH A WINNING RECORD - I will withdraw my comment.
  15. Beechnut - yeah you are kinda funny. First I do not have a dog in this hunt - if you would read - my son played several years ago.  Also, never said anything bad about the coach except I felt he did not install toughness into his players and I will stand by that.  Never mentioned any of the players but you had to try and insult me through my son.  Good try but he was a 2 year unanimous choice All District. As for the BS - I guess the "mess" this guy walked into turned into the 55-7 loss yesterday, the 54-21 loss to a great Huntington team (2-8), the 56-7 spanking from Huffman and Oh yeah the close game against Hardin.  I guess I have to remind you that the “mess” this guy walked into was 11 of the last 12 years they made the playoffs before him.  In those 12 seasons never had a losing season and the worst was 5-5 – wait the same record as this coach.  But I guess we will just not mention the previous 2 years and those records.
  16. Ok let’s not get personal here. In my opinion from what I have seen - and I have only met Coach Deel 1 time as my son played for Coach Stewart - is that Coach Deel does not piss enough people off - mostly parents but also the players. Coaches have to instill a want to win, a want to be the best, a want to beat the player across the line of scrimmage from them on every play.  If they are not willing to do that find someone that will.  This is what I do not see in Liberty's team under this coach.  Everything that I have heard about him from the players and people that are closer to him is that he is a good guy and knows football and teaches the basics well.  But I do not see the killer instinct that all the "good" teams have. In other words I am saying that his teams look to be soft and it shows on Friday night.  I am one of the few that hated to see Coach Stewart leave Liberty - the Panthers might not have been the best team on the field but never or rarely never did we get out hustled on the field.  The major exception to that was the WOS game of 2006 – we got out played, out hustled and out playered (i.e. better players).
  17. Hate to say this but Liberty got what it wished for - the Playoffs!  And I think they need to be congratulated - So GOOD JOB Liberty keep it up. Like '06 - and I agree I think the '06 Liberty team would have beat this years team easily (here come the multiple smites) - and if the WOS fans are saying they are better than the '06 team - watch out. But as I have stated before - Unlike when the '06 team left - for the next few years looks like Liberty will continue to improve - 2 - 3 years from now this might be a whale of a match-up.  This year - No so much But still - Go Panthers  8)
  18. As a Liberty fan - I wish I could have better hope. Liberty has beat the teams they should have - but have faired poorly agianst any team with decent talent.  They beat Porter, Tarkington, Shepherd, Splendora and Cleveland that have a total of 7 wins between them - and most of those are agianst each other (i.e. Shephards only win came agianst Tarkington).  Coldsprings and likely WOS have better teams an will be a tough nut ot crack.  But like they say thats why we play the games - Liberty could pull one or both of them out - but that is very unlikely at this time. Liberty has improved and have quite a few young players that will be back next year - so next year looks like a better year for the Panthers at this time.
  19. 1998 Liberty - 64 Stafford - 63 Exciting - just no Defense
  20. Have not posted for several reasons.  But this is what I got out of the game - WB is not as bad as the score indicates and Katy is not as good as the score indicates.  Katy is an all around team with talent and depth - this is what years of a great program will do.  WB I think is at the beginning of that ladder.  The are stating a program that has every chance to be what Katy is and soon.  WB should and will compete well into the playoffs - just use this game as a learning tool. Hope you do wll the rest of the season WB you deserve it.
  21. Katy 42 WB 27 Jack the Hammer - It is trash talking UNTILl you back it up ;) and Katy has to BEWARE every week cause they are the big game - everyone wants to take them down Sgt Rey - I like my Katy Tiger Stirred Up and Very Hot - your doing a good job of getting them there. Weebegone - The Turkey leg sounds good if you see me I will be wearing Red and a hat - see ya there 8) Agian good luck to both teams play hard and safe - and may the Best Tiger WIN :o
  22. Have been to only 1 WB game and yes almost all of the fans appeared to be first class.  I am sorry - I also know that a few posters do not represent an entire school.  Like I said this should be a great game and good luck to both schools.
  23. Gonna be there - but sorry got to go for the Katy Tigers - Graduate 1978. To close to miss a game between 2 top 50 teams. Good Luck WB - but I hope the Tigers win.
  24. How many of the WB fans expecting a "Butch Slapping" will be on after the game Saturday if WB loses?  I am stating that I think that Katy will win by 14 or more points - and if WB wins I will be here to take all the gruff that the WB fans will be sure to deliver to me and all other Katy fans; and I will also say that if WB wins they will deserve a big "great game" becasue this would have to be their biggest game in years and they will deserve all the kudos they would get. Will the WB fans do the same?  Frankly I have not been on the WB pages before as I live in Liberty and not Beaumont - I hope WB fans are bigger people than some of the teams that I have rooted agianst and had many SETXSPORTS conversations with. As a fan of this site I have noticed that most of the "trash" talkers have a bad habit of disappearing from the posts when their team instead of delivering the "Butch Slapping" gets a "Butch Slapping".  Just wondering? Should be a great game with 2 to 50 High School teams going head to head.  Katy is No. 9 and WB is No. 45 - if you don't have plans will be a great game to watch.
  25. As a graduate from Katy High School and currently living in SE Texas is does not make much sense to me that WB fans are calling the Katy team out.  While WB has a good team and should perform well they are playing a team with a long history of success - proven by state championships.  What does WB have in the recent past that even comes close to the history and teams that Katy can point to?  This year WB also has played teams with a W-L record of 2 and 5 - no be best teams to make your claim with.  While Katy has played teams with a combined W-L record of 4-2 - their only losses are against the Katy team. I hope it is a good game and I think that WB has a chance to win - but trash talking a team like Katy with their history - I do not think that is very smart. When I played years ago we were taught not to talk trash until we had proven ourselves on he field - otherwise it can get embarrassing.  Really we were taught to never talk trash but to let out play talk for us. Good Luck to both teams.
