  1. Sounds like a great game! Thanks for the updates!
  2. Well I hate to say I told you so, but, well, I told you so. Seems things played out exactly as I saw them. Don't worry though my little cubbies, you'll be ranked No. 3 against next year and we can do this all over again.
  3. I tried telling you guys Brenham was overrated a long time ago. The Cubs did prove me wrong though in one facet. They outlasted Montgomery ... by one day.. Lol Don't worry Brenham fans, you'll be rated No. 3 again next year and we can all do this over again.
  4. Hard to win when you're rotating three quarterbacks in at a time. Atascocita is a school with a ton of athletes, always baffles me why they can't win there.
  5. I have a feeling Montgomery will be going further than Brenham once again this year.
  6. Sorry I'm late on this. Been browsing through old threads I missed tonight. I gotta say that what coach Morgan has done is night and day compared to what has been at Jasper in the past. Jasper was 2-8 last year, so for them to be undefeated district champs is truly saying something. Heck, check the history books, Jasper hasn't had an undefeated district championship since 1983. This is a coaching staff that came in late too, I remind you. Morgan and his guys haven't just done it at the varsity level. They've built the foundation of a great program. The Bulldogs won district championships at all three levels. Plus, Morgan has not only done it on the field but off the field as well. Jasper had a 78 percent athletic pass rate last year - that's up to 95 percent right now. Jasper has a heck of a challenge in front of them this week and the Bulldogs may not have the upper hand but the community of Jasper should be proud of where this program is headed. Coach Morgan and his staff have gone above and beyond what was expected of them this year.
  7. Look, a big reason why I think Brenham is possibly overrated is because I just haven't been "wowed" by the team. Maybe they are more vanilla against their weak schedule than they would be against tougher teams. I do think there are some obvious deficiencies built in as well, as I mentioned. Lack of depth on the line, a discipline problem and an absence of physical play can come back to bite you in the playoffs. I guess we'll find out soon how these things shake out. It's not like teams from Brenham haven't been overrated before and not just in football. I've seen the Cubs' basketball team, softball team and volleyball team ranked in the past two years and do absolutely nothing in the playoffs. It's only natural for a person to be skeptical.
  8. I'm just saying, I've seen Brenham play on four occasions and haven't once walked away impressed. I think it comes down to being physical up front in the playoffs. They certainly have enough skill players but up front I don't think they can get it done on either side of the ball. Malcom Brown is a great player but he can't do it all. I expect the first team that can run the ball and has big defensive lineman will have the Cubs scrambling for answers. Also, thanks to their weak schedule, Brenham hasn't dealt with adversity at all this season. It will be interesting to see how they react when the going gets tough.
  9. Just a thought but I really think Brenham is WAAAYYY overrated. I know, I know, this isn't anything new. The Cubs are overrated every year (see last year's bi-district turd). But this year I think its especially true. They have a good defense but beyond that there really isn't much to them - they are putting up mediocre offensive numbers against a very weak schedule. One injury up front on defense and they become an average team. Watching Brenham play, I also get the sense that they are far less disciplined then in years past. I saw the punter (yes the punter) pointing the scoreboard against a Montgomery back up and they were only up a touchdown. I also saw a Cub cornerback taunting a Spring Woods wide receiver when Brenham was up by 50. It was just sad. Sure the team can beat up on the Northbrooks and Spring Woods of the world, but what have they done to show they can compete with the big dogs? If the Cubs have any advantage this year, it's that their region is extremely weak. Really, Dawson is a favorite? But I still wouldn't be surprised if Brenham makes its now-annual second or third round exit despite being ranked in the Top 5. Anyone else share these thoughts?
  10. I never saw the point of this. Does it help the injured player if everybody takes a knee? Seems like as long as the players are out of the way of the medical personnel then it really shouldn't matter.
